Great apartment but not too clean
Although we really liked the layout and location of this apartment, it was not too clean upon our arrival. Both the armoir and dresser in the bedroom had a lot of hair and dust inside. We were too disgusted to store our clothes here so we just had to lay them out on top of the dresser and leave the rest in our suitcases. Also, one of the pillow cases had a large brown stain on it. When we wrote to Lenna about this, she apologized and made excuses, but nothing more. She should've at least knocked off the cleaning fee for us, but unfortunately she didn't think that was necessary. It's really a shame because it's a truly beautiful apartment in a wonderful location, but because of the lack of cleanliness we won't be returning, nor would we recommend it to anyone we know.
Owner's Response: In the interest of transparency, I would like to mention that this review was submitted in October 2012 for a 5-day stay completed in early August. In these 2 months the guest has repeatedly threatened me with a negative review if they don't get the cleaning fee back. I leave any conclusions to the reader.
To come to the subject of the review, my apartments are serviced by a professional cleaning company who has several employees. The cleaning person who was working on the day the guest arrived obviously neglected to look inside the closets, which was of course a mistake for which I have, in my turn, complained to the cleaning company and ensured that won't happen again. The sheets and towels are being washed and ironed at a professional laundry. Sometimes the laundry machines leave yellowish-brown stains on the linen; the cleaning personnel has instructions to exchange any linen that comes back from the laundry with such stains. Unfortunately 1 of the 4 pillowcases the guest was supplied with had a laundry-machine stain that was overlooked by the cleaning person. This was also a mistake that shouldn't have happened and I have made sure that the cleaners are well aware of it. These are not "excuses", as the guest writes in her review, but facts. I have naturally apologized to the guest for the shortcomings of the cleaning person that day and very strongly complained to the cleaning company. By the guest's own admittance, the apartment was in all other aspects perfectly clean and to her satisfaction. For this reason I found her demand to have the cleaning fee returned unreasonable and the blackmailing tone of her emails clearly inappropriate.
