Toute la famille a été ravie et agréablement surprise en arrivant à la Lucarne. Le charme des pierres et des poutres nous a épaté de suite.
Revivre un petit bout d'histoire avec le confort en plus nous a beaucoup plu. Ce petit coin de paradis mérite d'être connu, même par des français comme nous. Quelle chance de permettre au patrimoine d'une petite ville de garder sa valeur et de pouvoir en profiter. Effectivement le confort est la préoccupation première de Mr et Mme Harkers. Tout le nécessaire a été pensé, juqu'aux parapluies... ! Nuits très confortables, bref un régal. Accueil parfait, très propre, on se sent vite comme chez soi. Un ami natif de la région a d'ailleurs également été étonné de cet endroit dont il ne soupçonnait pas l'existence. Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir. Merci aux propriétaires et bonne continuation.

We spent a week in the Lucarne Suite and found the town and the gite to be exactly we wanted. We would agree with all the points made in the other reviews about the suite. We loved the space in the kitchen/living room and the large table, which meant we had plenty room to leave stuff lying around, which is one of our bad habits!

Our particular concerns are available parking and internet access for keeping in touch with the family, both of which were no problem in the Lucarne suite. It is great to have Kelly and Byron near for any questions and advice, and we made good use of the books and travel info on hand.

In short we had no complaints and we don't often say that! We would definitely recommend this gite to friends and we hope to visit again.

Excellent 2 bedroom apt. in the center of the village and close to bakeries, deli's and excellent restaurants. Apt. had everything you would need to make you feel comfortable. Lots of charm and owners live nearby and can help out or make sightseeing suggestions as needed. Rates are very economical/reasonable and I would highly recommend it.

**Please note** The apartment is reached by taking two narrow and somewhat steep circular staircases and the small terrace at the top of the building is accessible by ladder (but what a view!). My very healthy mother of 79 managed with little difficulty but this could prove a challenge to others.

What better way to visit France than to find oneself in the middle of a little town, in a flat right above a small shopping street, in easy reach of very French shops? The flat itself is part of a wonderful old building, with beams galore, a stone spiral turret and wonderful doors all of different sizes, and the views from the flat offer more crazy roofscapes whichever way you look. Kelly and Byron, the owners, made us very welcome, and the flat was fitted out with everything we could want. We chose to cook for ourselves, mostly, but there are also lovely eateries in easy reach, and exploring both Charité-sur-Loire and the surrounding towns and countryside in a relaxed way really made for a lovely family holiday, with a very French feel to it. Kelly and Byron had left ample sources of tourist information in the flat and were able to point us to some of the more unusual sights in the area, and we found places to see to suit all four of us - two adults and two teens. We'd love to go again :).

We wanted to stay in a small French town and that's exactly what we got.
The accommodation is just off Place de Gaulle. It is steeped in history and full of original features.
The access is via. an entrance door at the side of a driving school shop, along a corridor to a spiral stone staircase which will not suit all, although we enjoyed it, all 33 steps, it kept us fit...!!!
On entering there is a spacious hall with large fitted storage cupboards, the living/kitchen area is very spacious with all facilities and equipment you need for your holiday. It includes TV & DVD player. The easy chairs were very comfortable to relax in after a busy day.
The double bedroom was up another set of stairs into a bedroom with all the roof timbers and beams exposed creating a main feature. The en-suite was ideal for our needs.
From our bedroom there was another door which led to the top of the spiral staircase and gave access via a captains ladder to a roof top tower with small table and chairs to sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying the views, particularly of l'eglise Notra Dame and the Ramparts. Access is not suitable for all, but certainly worth the effort if you can make it.
The town itself has all your needs with a couple of supermarkets and number of places to eat or just take a relaxing drink and watch the world go by.
Ville de Livres (town of books) is very interesting, problem is all the books are in French....?

Just a short walk is the Pont de Pierre which takes you over the river Loire to nice sitting and picnic areas by the river.

There is plenty to explore around the central area and the l'eglise Notra Dame and exposition areas.

The owners Byron & Kelly were very hospitable and accommodating, their useful tips & knowledge was also very helpful.

The people in the area are very friendly. We parked our motor bike in Place de Gaulle during our stay (we are pensioners not hells angels) and even the local police told us they would keep there eye on it for us.
As with any holiday it depends what you want, for us, Lucarne Suite ticked 98% of our boxes, great holiday.

The Lucarne Suite, a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite was perfect. It had all the amenities of home and a big plus for me, it had air conditioning and was a non smoking appartment.
The appartment was well located in a medieval town that had everything you needed to make your stay perfect (grocery store, bakery shops, tea shop, outdoor cafes and restaurants). The owners Byron and Kelly were wonderful and helped us find beautiful towns to visit within a hour drive. I would definitely recommend this gite to my friends.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely French town - Charite Sur Loire and it was made especially nice by the welcome given by Kelly and Byron. The apartment was very well appointed and an amazing place to stay, the windows overlook the cathedral and we sat outside on the turret overlooking the cathedral grounds.
The property was clean and well-maintained and the owners were very obliging. It was very pleasant being in a small town where there was a small supermarket, breadshops, bookshops etc. We ate lunches in a very good restaurant The Auberge de Seyr. The house with the apartments is right in the centre of the town.
We would thoroughly recommend it and will go again,

We had a great week staying at La Charite and unexpectedly good weather which saw us use the roof terrace several times. The apartment is very spacious for 2 adults and child and perfectly suited our needs. It would also be ideal for those with 2 kids or 2 adult couples as the rooms are on seperate floors with their own facilities.

It is on the main road of the town so you are in the heart of everything but it is not a noisy place at all. Very clean and tidy with the renovation retaining having been done in a manner sensitive to the building but enough mod cons to ensure comfort - heating, washing machine, nice showers, tv/dvd. Family friendly though not recommended if you have pram/pushchair/wheelchair given the spiral staircase.

We found eating out expensive but blame the Euro/£ rate.

You can park for free directly outside the property in time restricted zones but the free unlimited parking is only a short walk and can be seen from the apartment.

Overall we thought the apartment ideal for our stay but would want more outside space if we'd been there in the height of summer but then we like the sun and have an energetic 6 year old !

We have visited Burgundy several times over the last 15 years but not this part and found lots of things to do and see. We had planned a day trip into Paris if we had a wet day but never got round to it !

Byron and Kelly were great hosts and have the balance on their support/presence just right. We'd certainly go back.
