Like location, flat, balcony transcending view
Excellent location, lovely neighbourhood, the view is transcending. The owners are very easy to get on with, accommodating and pay attention to details (for example: we were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine). We were the first to rent the flat.
Located on a hill just by the Castro area. The studio is ideal for couples for short stays (like a week). The area is very clean, residential and quiet. You feel at ease at all times in the flat and walking outside. It's a 15 min walk to the center of the Castro area where most good shops, restaurants and trendy bars can be found. The hill is steep but the walk will keep you fit and the view is worth it. It is near Twin Peaks and we also managed to walk to the Golden Gate Park in around 20 mins. Most of San Francisco is easy to access via buses or if you walk down to Castro by Tram and Subway.
We slept a couple and a young baby very comfortably for a week. The apartment is well equipped with a delightful balcony and garden from which we enjoyed the sun with fresh lemons (from the garden) for a week. We managed to comfortably dine 4 people. Our guests were also impressed by the flat and the view (In fact we never got tired of the view!). The balcony is wide and high up, it can also accommodate 4 people. The garden below is charming and more isolated.
The balcony is facing east which means you get plenty of light in the morning and get a nice cooling shade in the afternoon so you can enjoy the balcony all day. The widows are quite big and the flat is bright.
The flat has cable TV, shower, Internet access via Wifi (no wired access available though), washing machine, all the necessary kitchen equipment. The large double bed is comfortable. Air conditioning works well. Wifi worked well with some disconnection at times which made the VOIP phone calls from my cell (connected to the wifi) unreliable (we're from the UK and needed to make phone calls in the US and abroad and we wanted to avoid expensive roaming charges). For the communication addicts like me, there are no land-line in the flat. The layout of the flat works well. You have kitchen and dining area close to the balcony. Then the bed and a sofa TV area on the other side.
All in all, it's a very charming place, much better than a hotel (more privacy, more room and more options for cooking and stuff).
Would we have the money and lived in San Francisco, we would buy a flat like this one.
