The apartment is situated in the centre of Plagne Soleil, one of the 10 villages making up the La Plagne ski area. You can drive up to the rear entrance and there is FREE open air car parking. Undercover fee-paying parking is also available. Located on the 3rd floor, in a quiet location, the apartment has a large balcony overlooking a piste and views over the mountains. Included is a lounge/dining area, a well equipped, fully fitted kitchen with 4 ring hob, fridge, dishwasher, eye-level oven and a microwave cooker. There is a bathroom and separate WC. A double bed is located in a separate bedroom. There are two single bunks in an 'Espace Nuit' or if preferred the sofa bed in the lounge can be converted into a very comfortable second double bed. Also included is underfloor heating and additional convector heaters. There is a DVD player/monitor, CD player/radio, books and games. A ski-locker is located below the apartments.

Alternative Winter Sports: Just below Plagne Centre you will find the Olympic Bobsleigh Run used in the 1992 Albertville Olympics. Rides can be arranged/pre-booked.Outdoor heated pool at Plagne Bellcote. Hang - Gliding. Parapenting. Skating. Snow-shoe walking. Ski-doo hire.

Getting There: By car: Motorway from Calais to Albertville, superior dual-carriageway to Moutiers, then a further 15 miles via Aime up to La Plagne. Please note that it is illegal not to carry snow chains in the mountains during the winter. It is advisable to practise fitting them before your journey to the Alps.

By Train: Eurostar from London Waterloo and Ashford (St Pancras from Dec 07) via Paris. Alight at Aime for local buses or taxis up to La Plagne.

By Air: Fly to Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble,St Etienne or Chambery. Many tour operators offer transfers to independent travellers. Hire a car to drive to La Plagne. Regular bus services from Lyon, Chambery, Grenoble & Geneva. Trains from Lyon, Grenoble and Chambery.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS Our local agent who can meet you on your arrival,hires bed linen,towels etc. Beds can be made up for your arrival. Lift passes can be obtained in advance. We rented this superbly-sited apartment over the Christmas period.The property was clean,very well-equippedand furnished with all the necessaries for a successful self-catering holiday and had adequate space for a family of 4/5.The view from the balcony(which has plenty of room for ski storage)overlooks one of the local pistes and was perfect for doing some people-watching while enjoying an apres-ski cognac or two.
The highly-efficient heating system was great for drying off our wet gear and there was plenty of storage space for clothes,boots etc.At the entrance to the building there is a well-stocked Spar which satisfied all our needs and nearby,within metres of the store,the ski-pass office is located.Also on the ground floor of the building is an excellent and reasonably-priced family-run restaurant serving local Savoyard cuisine.Access to several pistes is a short ski away from this genuine ski-in/ski-out location.We received a warm and friendly greeting on arrival from the owner's agents,Bob and Maureen Morris who have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the La Plagne area.The apartment really couldn't have been more conveniently situated and we're considering returning next winter.I would highly recommend this property.

Beautifully furnished, very clean apartment in an excellent location with doorstep ski-ing included!

Surrounded by good facilities - shop, ski hire, ski school, restaurants - what more could you wish for?

The owners also provide video and dvd players with a good selection of films to watch.

The agents, Bob and Maureen are extremely helpful and you are sure of a good welcome on arrival.

This is a little gem of an apartment and can be highly recommended.

2011 Ski holiday

Excellent location in terms of accessing slopes, ski school, very good supermarket, ski hire shop.

One thing that was not communicated to us pre-arrival was the nature of the hot water system. This is not the apartment for you if you like soaking in a hot bath after a hard day's skiing! On arrival, we were advised that the hot water tank is extremely small ('if you take a 15-minute shower, no-one else will have any hot water') and takes up to 5 hours to re-fill! In practice, this meant that we just managed to get 4 short showers in succession.

Apartment was clean and very well-equipped. It's is at the rear of the residence - the balcony overlooks the car park, a section of one rarely-used piste and one mountainside, as shown in the picture (view from balcony). It doesn't have views over the mountain range, chairlifts etc. The double bedroom is very small - it's only possible to access one side of the bed.

La Plagne is an excellent ski area for teenagers - good range of runs and also easy to access Les Arcs via Vanoise Express. Approx 2-3 hrs drive from Grenoble.

Owner's Response: My agents in La Plagne inform me that hot water was an issue with these clients as soon as the family arrived and obviously had baths or showers and used all the hot water in the tank ! The immersion volume is standard for the size of apartment, but cannot provide the capacity that visitors from the UK are used to at home. It is clearly unreasonable to expect to enjoy the extravagance of a 15 minute shower !

This client was made fully aware of the size of the apartment before booking but clearly did not appreciate that the area rented is proportional to the rental that one is prepared to pay .

This client complimented the apartment for its excellent location, cleanliness and being well equipped - key factors for a convenient skiing holiday.

As regards being at the rear of the block overlooking one mountainside, a piste and three floors above a small free car park (where you can unload and load your car ) it is important to realise that the front side of this block faces onto the front of Le Cervin apartment block. I know which view I prefer when I am in the Alps on a skiing holiday !
The piste referred to incidentally, is no more than 50 yds away and conveniently skis straight down to the start of La Bergerie express chairlift linking to Bellecote, Belleplagne, Champagny or into Plagne Centre for access to the Grande Rochette cablecar & Montalbert.

Overall the vast majority of my clients appreciate the qualities of my apartment and as one can see by viewing the availability for winter 2011/12, my apartment is already 45% booked for next winter season, many of which are rebookings. Need I say more.

A great apartment in a great location, with very quick and easy access to the Piste.

The apartment is well looked after, it was very clean and tidy, nice furniture and comfortable, all you need for a great skiing holiday.

We had the pleasure of staying in this apartment last week in January 2010.The last review in February 2009 really says it all but we would like to update it a little by saying that the apartment was extremely clean, warm and attractive, well equipped and ideally placed for ski in and out.The apartment had a well stocked DVD,CD & VHS library to suit all tastes..All the neccessary amenities on site eg small super market, lift pass office, ski hire and restaurants.We received a warm welcome from the agents,Maureen & Bob Morris who attended our every need and have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for a small family group

Ski La Plagne, Stay Les Drus!

La Plagne is an excellent resort for families and skiers of all abilities, as we found out, this week, being my 8 year old daughters first time on skis.
The area is vast, you won't do it all in a week.
We chose this apartment for its proximity to the slopes and that of the ski school meeting point. Both are outside your door, making life with kids very easy, without the need to make a special journey, worth its weight in gold as a parent!
Similarly the hire shops, lift pass office, and Ski School office are all outside the block opposite about 50 metres away max.
The apartment is well looked after, clean, tidy, and essentially warm with the heating adjustable. It's well equiped, everything works, and again of value to us was the entertainment by way of TV/DVD/VHS, etc, along with masses of films to watch should you wish.
The beds are comfortable, and the new sofa bed makes a great double or single bed, it's big, not the normal two or three seater type.
The Dishwasher is a handy extra.
Nice views from the balcony, and again a small point, but its proximity to the main lift is great, only 20 or 30 feet away, as if you take as much stuff as we did, it makes loading or unloading easy!
The girls loved it here, so much so we have booked again already. We are a family of 5, with three kids aged 8 to 3, the apartment is big enough to accomodate us all.
Below the block is a well equiped Spar shop, it's not cheap, but its got the lot. We took our own food, and used it for odds and ends, get there early after 8 am for fresh Croissants, they go fast!
Didn't use the restaurants so can't comment, but again right below the block there are plenty.
Plagne Soleil is just perfectly situated, being left of the resort, and high, which means quick access towards the Vanoise link to Les Arcs if you wish.
Booking on line with the French Ski school,is easy to do, and best of all outside your door on arrival. The beginers slope is within view, by mid week my 8 year old was on mid mountain blue runs!
The owners of this apartment John and Donna are pleasent to deal with, helpful with advice and tips for the journey or area.
The in resort reps Bob and Mo again, very helpful, making arrival an easy event.
We drove here, by far the easiest and cheapest option for us, the resort roads are easy to deal with, and parking a plenty.
All in all a great week, looking forward to next year already.

This is the fourth visit I have made to La Plagne and John and Donna’s apartment in Les Drus, Plagne Soleil. This year (like last year and the years previously) the skiing was fabulous and because it is so extensive, also exhausting! The apartment is clean and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Flexibility of the sleeping arrangements (it can sleep 6) ensures that everyone gets good nights sleep. The apartment is always warm and there is plenty of hot water. The view out of the French windows is of the groomed piste and the hillside, and if you are lucky enough, you may greet the sight of the ESF instructors carving through the powder early in the morning! What is really good about this apartment is its situation. It is but a few paces from the lift on the third floor and then a few paces from the square which leads directly on to the piste and the lifts. Just beside the lift on the ground floor is a supermarket which stocks just about everything you can imagine and, adjacent to this is a top class restaurant, the lift pass office and the ski fit shop. Just across the square is an equipment shop and a takeaway pizza café.
What’s not to like???

Apartment was a bit small for 2 adults and 2 teenagers but managable. Fridge was a bit hit and miss and the double bed was not comfortable at all, had to use the pull out bed in the main room. Access to slopes was excellent and the agent on site (Bob) was first class. Resort area was quiet which was very nice. I would go back to the resort but perhaps a different apartment next time with more room.

Owner's Response: This property is a 25sq.m, very affordable apartment in a world class skiing resort.As you will read in other reviews,it is well equipped, clean and well cared for. Should one wish for an apartment in a ski resort to be "spacious", clients will need to pay a significant premium above my very competitive rental rates. Following this client's comments, the fridge was checked and the thermostat was found to be on its lowest operating setting. Once turned up to the normal setting of "4" it worked perfectly. Also, this client had requested to take his dog into the apartment. In the interests of my regular and future clients ( to maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards) this request was of course, declined. During the week prior to this rental period it was discovered that the client had plans to take his dog in with him, in disregard of the owners decision.The bias of this review therefore came as no surprise.

Great property

We had a fabulous week. The apartment was very well situated directly on the piste. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We found all the comforts of home albeit in a smaller space! We appreciated the small library of videos as it was very expensive in resort as the pound is so weak against the Euro. The caretakers were very helpful and friendly.
