Great holiday at Villa Fougères, Sanguinet

Anja and family Gävle, Sweden
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
After visiting this part of France in August 2008, we wanted to come back and show this area to our son and his family. We wanted to find a modern villa, big enough for six people. This villa is very spacious and has modern nice furniture (mostly IKEA), which appealed to us from Sweden, as that means, for example, that the beds are big enough even for tall people like us. All the furniture is just for this villa, very tasteful and there are no worn and shabby things, which so often is the case when renting a holiday house or an apartment. We were a bit anxious because there was no air-conditioning in the villa, but there was no problem at all, even if the temperature was around 30 C.

We loved the pool - especially our teenagers - and spent a lot of time in and around it, from having breakfast till ending the day with a barbecue dinner in the sunset.

We made a trip to Dune de Pilat - that is a must when you are here. We went also to different beaches, both at the ocean and at the Sanguinet lake with its wonderful warm water. We visited the local market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which provided us with local cheese, vegetables, fruits, shellfish and chicken. And the local boulangerie (the one close to the "Mairie" roundabout) was the goal of our daily morning walk.

We really enjoyed our holiday at Villa Fougères; it has all you need: high standard, pool, quiet location, but at the same time it is close to shops and restaurants, because the village is quite small.

Fantastic holiday in Sanguinet-Southern France

Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We were delighted to be back at this beautiful villa in April/May this year for what proved to be an equally enjoyable holiday to our previous stay in September 2007. Booking the villa with the owners was a very professional experience and we again much enjoyed all the facilities the villa has to offer. It was a lovely time of year to visit and the weather was again very good. We brought our golf clubs with us and much enjoyed the local courses. We particularly liked the course at Biscarosse Lac, only 15 minutes by car. The delightful and beautifully kept 18 hole championship course is set between the lakes and the ocean and backs onto the pine forest. We also much enjoyed the championship 18 hole course at Gujan Maestras which was just 10 minutes drive. The clubhouse terrace overlooks the 18th hole which has a splendid water feature around the green and is a lovely setting where we had drinks and a very pleasant meal afterwards. In between our golf, we enjoyed some picturesque walks and picnics around the lake at Sanguinet and Biscarosse. A particularly enjoyable day was hiring a boat and taking it out for the day which everyone much enjoyed.
We promised ourselves we will be back!

Sanguinet and Villa Fougeres

Steve and family. London, England
Review Submitted: August 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We made a second visit in July to Sanguinet in this lovely part of France and stayed again at this beautiful villa. Our previous holiday stay was in August/September 2006.
The villa itself is located in a very private, tranquil position and the lovely pool and villa are completely unoverlooked. It is very spacious and well laid out and offers everything you could need. In the hot weather which we had both times, the double-glazing keeps the place refreshingly and welcomingly cool.
Everything you need is close to hand with excellent local boulangeries, good supermarket and cafes in the village which is two minutes walk. There is also a local market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The area has much to offer with the beautiful lake only a few minutes walk and the excitement of the breakers and surfing (lessons available!) at Biscarosse Plage just a short car drive.
We hired bikes and enjoyed the (flat!) pistes through the forest. We can recommend also the boat trip around the Bassin D’Arcachon, which everyone enjoyed. It is also worth making a trip to the Dune de Pilat, which is the biggest sand dune in Europe, and has fanatastic views from the top across the sea and the Bassin D’Arcachon.
We enjoyed dining out at some good restaurants including L’Authentic in Pyla sur Mer and Captain Aldo on the seafront at Arcachon.
There is plenty going on to suit all the family. We attended the Sanguinet Jazz festival, which is in its 10th year, and saw several performers including the finale by the excellent Blues Brothers Band.
We can highly recommend both the villa and the area. 5/5

Villa Fougeres

Chris Issy and Chipps Northumberland
Review Submitted: June 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
This villa is beautifully appointed and the swimming pool was a marvellous facility in the hot weather (mostly in the 80's). Sanguinet is a lovely village with several excellent restaurants; we can recommend the local bakers! In walking distance was the lake with a variety of watersports activities and several sandy bays for picnicking and swimming. In the region are more attractions than we could find time to visit including Biscarosse Plage (lovely beach, surfing galore) Bordeaux only short drive away; le parc ornothologique, and beautiful forests to explore.

Fantastic villa

Beautiful villa in a fantastic location for exploring the Bordeaux region and beyond. Clean, modern, bright and really well equipped. Rooms are all big, great living space, lovely pool and outdoor area to chill, eat, sit. There were only 4 of us but I would imagine that even with 8 there is enough room for everyone to have their own space. The village is quiet off-season but it still has everything you need. The owners are very pleasant and professional to deal with and we would have no hesitation about going back!

Beautiful Villa in the Bordeaux region of France

Nigel P Boxmoor, Hertfordshire, England
Review Submitted: May 9, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
If you are looking to rent a luxury and spacious Holiday Villa in the Bordeaux region of France then I doubt if you will find a better example than this gorgeous property located 800m from the beach in the picturesque village of Sanguinet, set in the heart of the largest pine forest in Europe.

The photos are stunning however even they don't fully capture the quality and luxury evident throughout the Villa. The furniture and all equipment are to the highest standards.

The property is very well presented and excellently maintained. I found the book detailing the attractions and amenities extremely useful and saved me a lot of time when planning the holiday itinerary.

The villa is located in a secluded setting and is also near to all the local amenities.

The Villa has the ingredients for the perfect holiday experience and I am definitely looking forwards to returning again soon."
