quiet terrace with barbecue amidst plants, few minutes to the beach

My “Finca Monica” seems to be located all alone in the mountains but it´s only a 5 min. drive to the nearest small shopping center at Playa del Cura and the beach. The nearby little town Puerto Rico offers more shops, restaurants of all kinds, pubs and discos and a lot of different  leisure activities such a tennis, squash,  large trampolines, gym and golf (nearby). If you are ready to go a little bit further still (ca. 20 km) you can share the nightlife of Playa del Inglés – that is the absolute contrast to Barranco del Cura – you´ll see... Therefore, it is recommendable but not urgently necessary to hire a car   – when contacting a “Rent a car” I´m very happy to help you if you like.

How to go to Finca Monica and adress: From the airport take the motorway South, past Playa del Inglés, further on to Arguineguin and finally to Puerto Rico to the end of the motorway. – At the roundabout go to the right towards Mogán. – Following the street about 800 meters, you will arrive at another roundabout with a sign post leading you to the right at “Barranco del Cura”. – You´ll have to go straight on at the lightly ascending way that after about 500 m will turn into a somewhat bumpy lane. Carry on straight, on reaching a big iron gate I will meet you and guide you on your last meters to your vacation home. Now you are only 8 min away from Puerto Rico, at your destination – Finca Monica in the midst of charming mountains, so quiet that during the night you can hear crickets chirp – something for individualists.

Transfer and sightseeing / excursions: If you need a transfer from or to the airport please inform me. For a small fee I`ll be very happy to arrange it for you.

Maybe you are interested in tours or excursions to the surrounding areas, or all over the island? I can help you find the best with my island experience, of almost 14 years! Maybe an interesting example is a folklore event that takes place at every Sunday in Las Palmas in the North of the island. There is also an open tourist bus to see the sights of the city. Inland, you may visit caves where people still live almost under conditions of ancient times – only the antenna outside testifies to modern inventions such as television.

Spanish lessons and hiking: Finally something totally different: If you like you can have a bit of education and additional knowledge. Although I´m not an examined teacher I have intense and long experience with tutoring and beginner lessons in English and Spanish. Perhaps you´ll discover an hitherto hidden talent of foreign languages then – please tell me if you´re interested in this…

If you feel like exploring the area on foot all over in the barranco (engl.: rocky valley) you can discover something new. Also dogs (by appointment please) can sport about nearly everywhere. This idyllic part at the southwest of Gran Canaria is situated quite near to the main tourist centers but right here you´ll find only hikers, some animals and those few residents of this Barranco, all of us nice people of all ages.

Beautiful gem nestled away in the Barranco

My partner and I stayed at Finca Monica 2 for 1 week during January 2013.

The owner Mona arranged to collect us from the airport, she was really nice and welcoming and even let us nip to the Spar before going to the Finca to get breakfast supplies as we had arrived on an evening flight.

The Finca Monica 2 was perfect for my partner and I. We didn't hire a car as we like to keep fit and enjoy walking and running but we have to say, if an older couple or people who struggle with mobility would like to stay here we would recommend you hire a car.

The property is well equipped and in a good location for those looking to escape the crowds. There is a nice dining area inside and also out on the terrace with sunbeds to use. Its very quiet and peaceful and we had a perfect time just relaxing and enjoying our surroundings.

Mona also provided mountain bikes for us to use and they were great for what we needed them for.

We spoke daily to the maintainance man Gino who was really kind and helpful and there is also a beautiful dog, Arka, who may come and see you if your sat outside, but she is very friendly.

Overall we had a great experience at Finca Monica 2, we didnt want to leave and wished we could have stayed for longer than 1 week!

Mona is really efficient in communicating with you both before and during your stay and we would really like to re-visit again in the future. We may visit the Finca further up next time with friends but if we come alone Finca Monica 2 will be just perfect.

An excellent stay!

We had a very relaxing week in Finca Monika 2, away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Rico or Playa del Ingles. The Finca has everything you require for a week or two's holiday and everything was as described on the website. Mona was very helpful and made sure that we were comfortable. I would recommend hiring a car as the journey to and from the coast would be a bit tiresome every day without transport, although if you are a fan of walking then you would probably think nothing of it. Definitely a place for people who don't like crowds but love the countryside. Thanks Mona!

Einfach schön !!!

wir ,paar, 40 Jahre, waren zwei wochen im juni 2009 in der finca monica 2. das haus sowie die anreise waren exakt beschrieben und gut zu finden. das haus ist gepflegt, gemütlich und sehr gut ausgestattet. die lage ist einfach traumhaft und sehr ruhig. die vermieterin ist supernett und wir haben uns wie zu hause gefühlt. ein wagen ist unbedingt erforderlich. trotz der unebenen auffahrt zum haus ist ein normaler mietwagen völlig ausreichend. die selbstverpflegung ist über den nahegelegenen sparmarkt, ca. 5 autominuten entfernt, zwar nicht billig aber die preise sind ok und die auswahl gut. weitere supermärkte finden sich in den nahegelegenen orten puerto de mogan und puerto rico.
es war ein wirklich schöner, ruhiger, erholsamer urlaub und wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen.

Waren imNov.2010 bei Mona.Kurzum Ruhe,Ruhe u.viel Spass.Alles was man braucht vorhanden.Grosszügiges Arppartement.Super Liegeterasse.Abends konnte man den eigenen Herzschlag hören.Hatten saugeiles Grillfest mit Mona.(Gärtner Walt durfte auch grillen).Mona immer hilfsbereit.Mona Handfest flott heraus einfach topp.Keine Angst vor dem Wachhund Kato,der verdient sein Fressen mit schlafen.
Ganz lieb.Einfach gesagt: Danke Mona/Walt für eine sehr schöne Zeit.

Ruhe und Erholung pur

Die Finca liegt ruhig und romantisch in einem Baranco. Der Zustand war absolut sauber und in Ordnung. Als Willkommen stand uns Wein Wasser und Saft zur Verfügung. Es ist nicht weit zu den nächsten Stränden in Amadores Beach oder Puerto Rico. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind ganz in der Nähe. Deutsches Fernsehen - war für die Fußball WM ganz wichtig- ist vorhanden. Mona hat uns nett und freundlich betreut. Alle Tips von ihr waren super. Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

Traumhafter Urlaub in traumhafter Lage

Wer die Ruhe sucht wird hier garantiert fündig. Gerade einmal ein paar hundert Meter weg von der "Hauptstrasse" im "Barranco del Cura" ist man weg von Allem.
Die Finca ist wie beschrieben - sehr geräumig, sauber und mit einem schönen Ausblick.
Wir waren hauptsächlich zum Wandern auf der Insel, haben aber die Stunden am Strand - vor allem an den Dünen von Maspalomas sehr genossen ; hier ein Tipp: einfach mal eine halbe Stunde länger Laufen und sich auch nicht von den Nudisten abschrecken lassen, und man ist dem Liegenmeer etwas entkommen.
Die Schlüsselübergabe und alles drum herum lief problemlos ab - schade war, dass unsere Vermieterin (Mona) erst 1 Tag vor unserer Abreise aus Deutschland zurück kam... aber trotzdem haben wir noch ein schönes Glas Rotwein auf ihrer Terasse gehabt (Danke nochmals dafür).
Morgends bekommt man relativ häufig von den 2 Parkhütern (ein schwarzer großer und ein weißer struppeliger kleiner Hund) Besuch... welche aber erst nach einer ausgiebigen Massage wieder verschwinden.
Alles in Allem war der Urlaub wie immer zu kurz, und es gibt sehr viele Gründe wieder zu kommen... wenn es vom Termin übereinstimmt wieder in die Finca 1,2 oder auch 3, 4 - mal schauen...

Urlaub für Individualisten

Eine Woche in der Finca Monica 2 -fernab des Touristentrubels - für ein junggebliebenes sportliches Paar mit 21- jährigen urlaubsreifen Sohn - genau das Richtige, allerdings eindeutig zu kurz. Den anderen positiven Bewertungen ist wenig hinzuzufügen - die verdienten 5 Punkte könnten natürlich dazu führen, dass es in Zukunft schwierig wird relativ spontan hier unterzukommen!
Alles war genau so wie beschrieben . Ausstattung, Zustand, Lage - top. Betreuung auch, tolle Tipps erhalten und ausgesprochen nette Vermieterin und Nachbarin.
Wir würden auf jeden Fall ein Auto empfehlen, man ist dann ganz schnell in den Dünen von Maspalomas oder im hübschen Fischerdorf Puerto de Mogan. Am ersten Abend haben wir auf Empfehlung im Restaurant Guantanamo ( 5 Min entfernt ) gegessen - war ein super Einstieg in den Urlaub, haben dort auch den letzten Abend verbracht, ausgezeichnet!
Fazit unseres Urlaubes . kurz und gut und unbedingt weiterzuempfehlen.

Wir hatten einen schönen dreiwöchigen Urlaub in Finca Monica 2.
Die Beschreibung der Finca entspricht der Wirklichkeit.
Ein sehr geräumiges Zweizimmer-Appartement mit guten Betten.
Eine wunderschöne Aussicht, sehr ruhige Lage und dennoch den touristischen Zentren sehr nahe. In 1,5 Km Entfernung gibt es einen gut ausgestatteten Supermarkt.
Die Finca und der Garten sind eine Oase im felsigen Barranco.
Ein Auto ist empfehlenswert und eigentlich unbedingt notwendig um etwas von der schönen Insel zu sehen.
Im Zeitraum, in dem wir da waren, war ein Teil der Zufahrtstraße (nach schwerem Regen) sehr schlecht, aber man gewöhnt sich daran …
Auf der großen Terrasse kann man im Februar von 9 bis 16 Uhr die Sonne genießen.
Während des Aufenthalts wird nicht geputzt, aber man kann die Finca leicht selber sauber halten.
Müll muss man selber entsorgen, aber auch das ist problemlos und fördert das Umweltbewusstsein während des Urlaubs.
Handtücher- und Bettwäschewechsel sind nach eigenen Wünschen zu vereinbaren.
Wir hatten eine gemütliche Nachbarin und 100 Meter weiter eine behilfliche Vermieterin: Klasse!
Es hat uns so gut gefallen, dass wir schon für 2011 reserviert haben.
Empfohlen für alle, die viel Platz und Ruhe lieben.

Eine Romantische Finca mit Erholungwert!

Wir sind Motorradurlauber und dies ist ein ideales Urlaubsdomizil ohne Streß - wer Ruhe u. Erholung sucht ist hier richtig. Zum Touren, Wandern u. auch Baden ideal. Mit einem Fahrbaren Untersatz ( der schon erforderlich ist - zum Supermarkt oder Strand - alles in 5 min erreichbar) erreicht man alles schnell. Die Vermieterin Mona ist super, wir kamen uns vor als währen wir zu Hause, genau so super ist die Finca sehr sauber und ansprechend.
Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder mal vorbeikommen und freuen uns auf ein wiedersehen. Diese Finca mit Anhang bekommt von uns 5 Sterne.

Ein ganz toller Urlaub!

Drei Wochen in der Finca Monica 2 waren einfach nur schön. Bezüglich der Angaben im Inserat zur Lage, Ausstattung, Sauberkeit, Beschreibung und Betreuung können wir uns nur den vorherigen Bewertungen anschließen. 100% Übereinstimmung. Mit dem Auto haben wir von hier aus die wunderschöne Insel erkundet, sind zu den nahe gelegenen Stränden gefahren oder haben einfach auf der schönen und gemütlichen Terrasse gefaulenzt oder Abends gerillt. Die Finca ist abseits des allgemeinen Touristenrummels gelegen, Strände, Einkaufs-möglichkeiten und gute Restaurants sind in wenigen Minuten mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Einfach ideal für Erholungssuchende. Wir können diese Unterkunft bedenkenlos weiter empfehlen.
