Christmas in Ireland

My Fiance and I stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas. We had the little apartment on the side which included a beautiful bedroom and en suite bathroom as well as a fully equipped kitchen and a really cozy living room. The apartment itself was immaculate and also decorated for Christmas for us! Riona went out of her way to welcome us and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. The location was fabulous for short trips around the Connemara area, I'd definitely recommend a car! The views were stunning in every direction.

Cosy place

Bru Na Mara is a very nice place for enjoying the sea, the air and the surrounding beautiful nature of Connemara. It is a beautiful and cosy location at the end of a little road. The seaview with some little isles is salving.
We felt very comfortable and being welcomed by Riona. Her information helped us to discover local places and to plan day trips in Connemara. We liked walking along the coastline behind the house and loved it beeing sometimes guided by her cute dog. We liked the landscape and the atmosphere very much, especially the bog with the sheeps, the coastline and the mountains. We enjoyed the daytrips to the Island of Inishbofin and a walk on Diamond hill or to some sandy beaches and also to Galway-City.
We appreciated cooking at home and to buy and taste the local products and also to go out to Pups and to enjoy the delicate seafood.

Staying there gave us great impressions!

A very nice place to stay. Very quite and picturesque. The hostesses are very hospitable. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Wi-fi is available. Probably, it is a little bit hard to find the way to the pier if you are traveling by the car.
Very highly recommended!

Bru Na Mara: My Favorite Place in Eire

Submitted: July 31, 2011 Stayed: June 2009
I agree with all has been said in the reviews and don't want to repeat anything.-Having been here with my family in 1973(!) already and 5 times again since then I love the place, feel at home with the Connolly - Family. And I love the rough weather. " It is a soft day today" I heard when it had been raining. A few hours later the sun was very hot and we went to the beach close by. I loved to be shipped to the MacDarra Island by boat or stay at the harbour and listen to the quietness. Or walk - the last time with by own bike- around. When I had been here in 2009 after a long break the only thing I have missed was the smell of the turf - fire like in former times, already when you came to Rosslare by ferry-boat.

A wonderful spot by the sea

Sonas Bru na Mara is the ideal spot, if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Beautifully located by the sea we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Riona made us feel at home right away not only by a warm welcome, but by giving us lots of useful tips what to do and where to go - and even some food in the fridge for a nice breakfast.
The flat was very clean and equipped with everything you need. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and have already done so. There are lots of opportunities for wonderful walks in beautiful Connemara and if you look for nice towns you can go to Roundstone, Clifden or you can visit Kilmore Abbey and do many other things so that you will not get bored. In Carna itself are some small shops where you can buy the food you need, and there is a pub where they play life music.

We have had absolutly nice holidays in Sonas in a very beauty Area. Riona has a functionally and very clean home and explained us Connemara delightfull. Her coatching was very good and lovley! - We will never forget such a pretty Eire with such nice people!

Connemara and Macepier are most intresting for everyone who is intrested in beautifl nature and typical irish areas.

I`d prefer to visit this county with children at a warm summer to visit the wonderful beaches like >dogsbay< or >coralbeach<.

In spring and autmn you can find lot of many nice nature like >Connemara National Park< the >Twelve Bens< or >River Errif< and many more.

Very nice getaway cottage

Took Sonas at very short notice for 10 days in November 09. Riona was great hostess with everything I needed laid on. Weather was brilliant for first part of the holiday allowing me to walk and cycle in some very attractive country. Being November,it did start to rain, but even so, the Cottage was a great base for touring in Connemara and always warm and cosy when I needed it to be. Great fun getting the turf fire going in the evening..! It is a lovely location which I would be happy to recommend to anyone who likes rural activities. Must return some day during the fishing season.

A geniune country experience!

5 of 5
Submitted: September 9, 2009 Stayed: June 2009
We were lucky to find such an authentic experience with lodging that fulfilled all our needs at such an affordable price.  The property was clean and well maintained, with laundry facilities and a perfect kitchen for cooking in or packing a lunch, which really cut down on the money we spent on meals.  This property is in the country, very rural, but also very close to so much to do in the Conemara area.  We stayed a week and could have easily stayed longer.  We gained a sense of familiarity with the countryside, got to know our way around and meet some very interesting locals when we were in need of directions!Because of the location, we didn't venture out too much at night (but we don't really at home either).  In exchage, we were rewarded with some awesome walks along the rugged coast, past countless rock walls that were constructed by who knows whom and when,  leaving much to the wonder of the whole experience.  Not to mention black faced sheep on the narrow (easily travelled) roads, and green green green landscape (July 1-8, 2009).As a proprietor, Ms. Riona Connoly Green was very professional, helpful, and thorough.  I was at first nervous about wiring money to someone on line who I did not know, but I took the chance and I must say it worked out very well.  We had a wonderful trip.

Just a wonderful holiday!

Submitted: September 6, 2009 Stayed: April 2009
we are a couple from north of germany and wanted to spent our holidays in the rough and beautiful ireland. on the internet we found
riona connellys offer. the price was good and the pictures promised a nice landscape around our appartment. it did not promise too much!
we rent a car at the airport otherwise you cannot get in this lonely region. but our navigation did a good job and riona helped us a lot, too.
what we found was much more better than we had thought!! riona welcomed us very friendly and showed us our cosy little appertment with a big bed and an oven in the living room. very tidy and nicely arranged furniture let us feel like home and better. one step out of
our appertment (10 metres) we were at the sea. the rough coast with its beautiful sight over the grassland filled with stones was just pure nature for us. the house is settled in a cute small haven and when the sun shines on to the water it was just wonderful.
with our small little car we made a lot of day trips to near and far sights worth seeing.riona gave us a lot of information what we need to see and where we could go on trips. we had 6 sunny days, but a rainy day could not stop us. we travelled along the coast up to clifden, through the mountains of the national park up to the aasleagh falls
which are little but beautiful falls. we also went to the cliffs of moher which was really a hightlight of our trip.
and everyday we could fall in our big comfortable bed. the kitchen was also nice for cooking. you have to think precisely what you need from the supermarket and when your car needs oil. but thats a small price if you want to see real beautiful irish nature. the best was that our appartment was directly at the coast with its beautiful sight and the
lonelyness. that was just what we needed to cure ourselves from all the stress at home and spent a realxing time. we still sap our
energy from our memories of the trip. we had 8 wonderful uncomplicated days in ireland and we plan to come back exactly there. in rionas nice little place. and watch out the sheep! they love to walk, eat and sleep on the streets and they really do not care
if you want to drive there :)
