The apartments are located in a small palace dating back to the 15th century in via dei Cordari, a small pedestrian road very close to Piazza Duomo, Porta Marina and to the sea front. Both apartments have been recently renovated using traditional materials, and retain several old architectural and decorative elements (face exposed arches and niches). The apartments suit perfectly for a comfortable stay in the heart of Ortigia, the historical centre of Siracuse.

Apartment Porta Marina is located on the ground floor. It has a separate, private entrance directly from the street. The walkable surface is 40sqm. It has a single very large room with built in kitchen, closets, large dining area and living area with 2 single beds-sofàs. The double bed is located at the end of the room, in an area with a volted ceiling, close to the bathroom (with shower) and can be separated from the kitchen, dining and living area by pulling a curtain. The apartment is fully equiped with tv, fan, air conditioning, heating and can well house 4 people. the weekly rental fee includes water, electricity, cooking-gas, bedlinen, towels and final cleaning.

Perfect location, perfectly fine

We spent 5 nights in the Porta Marina apartment at the end of February. Two adults and one toddler.
The good points: the apartment is perfectly located, everything is reachable by foot, even the train and bus stations were an easy 20 minute stroll. The fantastic food market and other shops all within 5 minutes, in fact almost anywhere on Ortigia is just a few minutes away (the cathedral, the castle, the fountains and springs). The apartment is on a quiet alleyway with almost no through traffic (ie. mopeds), we got up late every morning because it was so quiet. Everything was clean and tidy, the bed large and comfortable, the shower functional. The apartment was perfect for a toddler, nothing breakable or dangerous within reach, everything on one level, and a baby bed provided (no high chair). We had a friendly welcome.
The not so good points: the apartment is on a small alleyway, so it is a bit dark, but at least for us in a cosy kind of way and the lighting was just right. And the apartment is quite airy, not too well insulated, so a bit fresh at the end of February, but the heating unit easily kept us warm in the main room, only the bathroom with window was cooler. The stone floor was cold but we had slippers with us. All these points probably work in favor as the weather gets hotter. Probably a bit small for 4 adults (in the photos, what you see is what you get), especially cupboard space and the small bathroom. The decor and furnishing is functional rather than luxurious, but more than adequate and with a nice big table.
Altogether recommended as a base for a short break for sightseers, but not the place for people who want to spend time at home.

Schöne Lage, schöne Wohnung, waren sehr zufrieden!

Wir, ein junges Paar, waren für 8 Tage auf Sizilien.
Die Wohnung hat eine perfekte Lage. Siracusa war von all den Städten die wir im Südwesten gesehen haben die Schönste. Viel Bewegung von Morgens bis spät Abends, selbst am Sonntag. Ein Auto ist notwendig wenn man was sehen möchte. Wenn wir nochmal nach Sizilien fahren machen wir eine Inseltour.
Die Wohnung ist modern eingerichtet, es lässt sich gut kochen und man lebt in Mitten der Sizilianer. Dann ist aber auch klar, dass es ganz schön laut sein kann, was einen nicht stört, denn das ist normal. Motorroller in den Gassen, laute Nachbarn und vereinzelt nachtschwärmende Gruppen.Die Wohnung ist relativ dunkel(Gasse) wer viel Zeit in der Wohnung verbringen möchte, sollte sich eine andere suchen. Für uns war sie genau richtig. Wer es kuschelig mag, sollte sich einen Bezug mitnehmen für die Decken. Wir hatten für die Nacht eine Tagesdecke und kein Bezug für die Decken, die noch zur Verfügung standen. Sonst alles super. Hatten mal unseren Schlüssel in der Wohnung vergessen. Kein Problem!!! Vor Ort war jemand, der uns wieder geöffnet hat. Deswegen...am besten Nummer ins Handy speichern. Baden in der Nähe am besten Fonte Bianche. Bloß nicht in das Restaurant eine Gasse weiter (Tische und Stühle stehen auf den Treppen) die totale Abzocke und das Essen so wie die Bedienung waren schrecklich. Sonst ist jedes Restaurant zu empfehlen...am besten auf dem Markt frische Sachen zum Kochen kaufen....lecker!
