On the very edge of Willow Glen, this cheerful three-bedroom, 2 bath home is ideal for families or business travelers who enjoy a bit more room and comfortable surroundings. Perfect for family gatherings, weddings or graduations or just to come and have a place to stay while you visit family and friends.
The home retains its original hardwood floors in the living room, dining room and hallway, with a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, one car garage and patio with umbrella table and chairs and Weber BBQ grill.
The house has HDTV with satellite, Blue-Ray DVD player, Wi-Fi, a roll-top work desk and a comfortable sofa that can be used for curling up with your newest book to read which can be found in the bookshelf provided.
The three bedrooms are each distinctively decorated. The front master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, full dresser, walk-in closet and full bath with shower. The middle bedroom has a full-sized bed and dresser while the back bedroom has a queen sized bed and dresser. The second bath has a tub-shower combination and is located in the hallway next to the back bedroom. If desired, a roll-away bed is available (as is a portable crib) to use.
Just outside the kitchen is the back patio with umbrella table and chairs and the BBQ near at hand adjacent to the sunny back yard. A full washer and dryer is provided in the one-car garage off of the patio.
A full kitchen complements the home with stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher (and bottled water dispenser), and all dishes, pots, pans, utensils and flatware. If anything else is needed, all you need to do is ask and it likely can be accomodated.
One block away is a small shopping center with Italian, Chinese, and Mexican Restaurants, a burger joint, yogurt shop and a Starbucks. There is also a higher-end grocery store with numerous take-out options or find your own meal at their meat market and deli. Also in the shopping center is a major chain pharmacy and other smaller stores.
You will find that the home is close to Highway 87 and a short drive to downtown San Jose, and even closer to Lincoln Avenue in the heart of Willow Glen where numerous boutiques and specialty shops abound as well as more distinctive restaurants. This would be a great base of operations for those day trips to San Francisco, Monterey Bay area, Santa Cruz, Napa Valley, the many local or State Parks or even Yosemite National Park!
With the many amenities to be found in the home, the comfortable surroundings and easy access to other locales and highways, we are confident that you will find your stay relaxing, comfortable and the perfect home away from home (without all of the distractions!!)
Sue and Brian are 'recovering attorneys' who love to travel, cook and enjoy the local sights, sounds and tastes wherever they go. Brian likes to play guitar and often their destinations will involve music festivals. Sue is a former National Park Ranger and enjoys hiking, camping and exploring new areas.
While traveling, they seek out the local farmers' markets, shops and other street vendors to experience a real taste of the local cuisine and culture. Northern California, and the Bay Area in particular, is known throughout the world for its local and sustainable cuisine, great chefs and restaurants, performing arts (and artists!) including symphonies, opera, and theatre, not to mention the many free music festivals that abound throughout the year.
We are also graced with some of the finest parklands that Nature has to offer! (Don't miss the annual Monarch Butterfly migration at Natural Bridges State Park, or the elephant seals at Ano Nuevo State Park during the winter months!) Even Yosemite National Park is just a day trip away, with more local National Parks close at hand in San Francisco and Hollister (the Pinnacles).
For those seeking an adventure closer to home, downtown San Jose offers some of the best taquerias and Vietnamese food in the Bay Area, and a wonderful day could be had by all with a visit to the Tech Museum, Christmas in the Park at Cesar Chavez Plaza, Childrens' Discovery Museum, Rosecrucian Egyptian Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, and the Municipal Rose Garden. Or, for some, creating your own gourmet meal at this home using the best local ingredients from the various farmers' and gourmet markets could be just the ticket for a satisfying day!
Wherever your interests lie, it is our hope that you can make this home (which used to be our home) your personal retreat for the time that you are here, and discover all that San Jose and the Bay Area has to offer.
Sue purchased this home initially as a rental investment property as it was in a nice, quiet neighborhood, a good location close to everything and a place she would like to live. When she and Brian married, they made it their home and stayed until the family became just too large (four kids and two cats will do that to you!) and they had to find larger quarters.
Since then, we have made numerous upgrades to the property but have tried to keep its innate charm intact.
We love the area and the neighbors, and the nearby restaurants are always beckoning.
The house is on a cul-de-sac with no through traffic, it is close to shops and restaurants and has easy access to most major freeways in San Jose.
In other words, a family-friendly house on a quiet street and in a quiet neighborhood. . . What could be more ideal.
