A Little Disappointed

We, a party of 6 have just returned from 11 nights at Maaya. Immediately the views across the Indian Ocean dominate the 2 main bedrooms.
There was, however, no tv`s in bedrooms, as stated by last reviewer, no fresh flowers, no wifi,no coffee machine, no ice maker, no hair drier, no ironing board, no ,mosquito traps, only nets,no working oven and minimum towels. The third bedroom is well below European standards.
However, once we got used to all the wildlife inside and outside the villa, we loved it!!
Nandhi,Linda and Nihal were marvellous. Nihal, the cook served up whatever we asked for supper. For a set price each night, the 6 of us had many meat and vegetable dishes to sample.Nihal excelled under the cramped conditions. It was amazing, a little throbbing on the lips at times.
Sitting on the wall at the bottom of the garden was just priceless. The odd fisherman plying his trade on the beach, was all we saw, apart from the turtles we saw feeding off the seaweed.
We loved Nandhi and Linda, survivors of the 2004 tsunami, and wanted to bring them home. We shared a tipple or 2 with Nandhi, and my eldest son even bought himself a sarong like Nandhi to wear at the local disco.(He`s 27 !!)
2 tuk tuks were on hand everyday offering tours and general transport.
We had lovely days whale watching with the Sri Lankan Navy, trips to Yala National park, Kogalla lake, Mirissa and the local turtle hatchery. Everywhere we went there were wide beaming smiles.
Maaya villa and the people who run it, touched us deeply, and will always be in our hearts.
