In 2002 David (DJ) and Harriet George settled in a most beautiful natural setting on the heights of Mount Rodney.
Their superb location, DJ's classic Caribbean/European cooking and the couple's genuine warm welcome, have made their Heights Cafe/Bar the venue to visit in Northern Grenada.
The George's classically simple holiday cottage, a calm haven in an exquisite setting, provides you with a tranquil and relaxed base for exploration of this enchanting area ..... and with the famed Heights hospitality immediately available should you wish.
We have no hidden extras - rates include daily housekeeping and provision of a local cell-phone, together with recommendations and transport (if you wish) from your on-site hosts.
We invite you to relax in this breathtakingly beautiful location and to enjoy the Caribbean sunshine, with its magnificent dawn and dusk, and our constant cooling breezes, whilst absorbing the panoramic view over the meeting of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Some background: The Heights Cafe/Bar, set high on Mount Rodney, has built up a fine reputation as one of the leading venues for locally produced high quality food - all is prepared by DJ, born in the parish and now back home again after many years in the UK.
The cottage that DJ and Harriet have had built, after nine years in their dramatically beautiful setting, incorporates all of their experience of living in this unique location. The view is breath-taking and the cooling breezes are a joy. Your cottage is a calm haven, designed to take maximum advantage of these great natural blessings.
Your veranda is your outdoor living area - blending seamlessly with the calm and cool blue and white classic cottage interior - ice cold drinks from your capacious fridge - taking in the breath-taking Caribbean panorama ...... a little music perhaps .......feet up and relax. www.grenadaheights.co.uk
Enjoy meeting with the local community: Your cottage is in a completely private area, but only a very short stroll to the intimate open-sided timber building that is The Heights Cafe/Bar. Breakfast, lunch, a beer, a Heights rum punch or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc ................. as you wish.
As long term residents of this very special part of unspoilt North Grenada, your hosts are well known locally. Their cafe/bar clientèle is cosmopolitan and you will meet, if you wish, with a wide cross section of Grenadians plus a truly international range of other visitors. D's cooking is phenomenal ........ and very much appreciated.
Savour a sundowner as you greet the dusk ..... watch the movement - and the lights - of the Ocean liners as they pass along the living Caribbean panorama that is yours to enjoy
Some places to go: When you're ready to explore a little, maybe visit Sauteurs - stroll along the ocean side and perhaps have a cold drink en route at Agnes' bar. Sauteurs itself is a most welcoming town with internet cafe, two banks, two schools, varied bars and eating places and most of all an integrated and family based community where you'll be made very welcome.
A walk down to the five star Petite Anse Hotel will give you the opportunity to meet visitors from Europe, Scandinavia, the US and Canada and again you'll be made very welcome by UK owners Philip and Annie Clift and their local staff.
Slightly further afield - you must visit Bathway beach - jaw-droppingly beautiful, almost deserted and totally safe bathing - Belmont Estate, Grenada's prime eco-tourist estate, is a great day out, Rivers rum distillery might also appeal .............
Harriet and DJ will be pleased to discuss and recommend............ the Heights view and veranda are there to welcome you back after your day out
