Pahoa Cottage Rental Photos and Description
Private cottage in the Puna forest reserve sleeps up to four, full bath, kitchen

Awake to the sound of the song bird in the morning. You will love the real peace of being close to nature while staying at our Puna Rainforest Cottage. We are located at 1200 ft elevation so our temperatures at night are always cool and very comfortable. With the beach only 15 minutes away you can have the best of both worlds - sunny weather and restful rainforest. We are located near the Puna Forest Reserve and are surround by hundreds of acres of ohia forests.

We have a suite (2 room) cottage that sleep up to four persons with a queen bed and two twin beds, a full bath and a small kitchenette (mini-fridge, gas range, pots and pans and dishes). Our cottage has a full lanais (porch) with a distant ocean views. We have a common area with a propane BBQ grill, and have free wireless internet, suitable for checking email and websites.

You will love the tropical decor and accents and will be comfortable for a night or for a week's stay or longer.

Visit funky Pahoa town, only 4 miles away for local restaurants, shops and markets. Lots to do and see here, and we are centrally located for your stay. Visit Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park, the Ahalanui Beach Park with the warm ponds for swimming, Pohoiki Park for ocean swimming and surfing, the Lava Tree State Park, and many other sites to visit while here. Visit Makuu Farmers Market Sunday mornings until 2:00 pm, Seaview's Space Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, and Uncle Roberts evening market on Wednesday nights in Kaimu near Kalapana.

Drive to Hilo (30 minutes away) for Hilo Farmers Market Wednesdays and Saturdays, and visit Imiloa Center in Hilo for a great planetarium and cultural center and restaurant.

We are the former owners of Waterfalls Inn B&B (Hilo, Hawaii) and enjoy hosting guests and sharing our slice of paradise with them! Our Hilo B&B was selected as one of the top ten in the USA in 2004 by Tripadvisor. We hope you enjoy staying with us in the rainforest as much as you liked Waterfalls Inn!

George purchased this cottage in 2008

We are located in the most peaceful part of the Big Island, yet only 3 miles to Pahoa and only 15 miles to the beach. We are located 22 miles from the Hilo (ITO) Airport, and 95 miles from the Kona (KOA) airport.

Starry skies at night, crisp tropical mornings with a morning rainfall, rainforest sounds to lull you to sleep. Unplug and unwind!

We really enjoyed our stay at George's place. The house looked new and everything we needed was there. Thank you for the fruit basket and be sure we will visit again.

A Wonderful, Quiet Place to Stay! (Family of 3)

The property is well maintained, and the cottage is clean and comfortable. George and Barbara are very nice and considerate - they even left us food, books and movies! The owners have two dogs and a cat, who are all extremely friendly. The place is quite close to Hilo and to the Volcanoes National Park. Pahoa has few grocery stores, but many affordable restaurants. We were surprised at the diversity and quality of the food. Yet Pahoa somehow manages to retain its local vibe and is not overcrowded with tourists.

Keep in mind that this cottage truly is in a rainforest, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper because the frogs and birds are loud!

We enjoyed our stay immensely, and would recommend this place to anyone, especially those who want the peace and privacy of home away from home.

We stayed two nights at this lovely place in the middle of the rain forest.

George and Barbara were great hosts and the cottage was the best we had during our two weeks at Hawai, absoutey clean, modern and equipped with everything you need.

We really enjoyed this place as base to explore Volcano National Park and the Puna Area and would come back every time...

Owner's Response: Mahalo! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are continually upgrading our property and are planning to install satellite internet service soon. We are out in the middle of the Puna Forest Reserve and we are living as independently and sustainably as we can. Our fruit trees are stating to produce fruit and we hope our avocados and breadfruit will come to fruit next season so we can share with our guests. Please return again!

Beautiful Secluded Cabin Perfect for Making Memories!

My husband and I and our two children rented the cabin during our stay on the Big Island and couldn't have been more pleased. The cabin was like having our very own home on our vacation. After seeing the sights and nearby Volcano, we'd retire and have dinner and drinks on the porch while gazing at the incredible Hawaiian sky. This is the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. Highly recommended for a single traveler, couples, or families with children as you have your own space and freedom - a home away from home at a great price. Will come again!
