The master bedroom, Family room, and large Florida room have sliding doors and views to the patio, seawall, dock, and canal. The patio and pool are screened; the patio is covered by a roof. The private dock is under repair; the boat lift is usable. Special care has also been taken to provide room darkening shades and curtains, to allow peacefull rest in the bedrooms, while those who are not resting can enjoy the central get-together spots. The pool is surrounded by a safety gate.
The two car garage provides plenty of storage for travelers. There is amble closet storage in all bedrooms, including two walk-in closets in the master suite.
The kitchen has modern appliances, and anything needed to prepare meals for groups up to 15, assuming you will invite friends and family to visit.
The rental property manager is located close by, and provides any support required, including arranging special cleaning services during your stay, if needed. The use of the washer and dryer is included, as well as the supplies.
One of the two docks are being rebuilt, check with the property manager to determine progress. The electric boat lift is useable, but requires previous arrangement to be made with the property manager. Estimated dock completion is Nov, 2013.
The screened porch and open patio by the seawall allows the choice of enjoying the sun, or the cool shade.
There is a small beach and park within walking distance of the property, that has an exercise course, a dog walk, tennis courts, and a small beach and boat launch. Within 3 miles is the famous, award winning St. Pete Beach, with gourgeous sand, great water, and easy parking, 100 feet from the beach. Within 5 miles is Fort DeSoto park and beach, with great bike paths, excellent swimming and boating, and fantastic camping, with some spots right on the water.
I have owned a waterfront property on the same street for several years, and was happy when I was kayaking past this property, and found it was going on the market. It has been fun fixing it up and furnishing it with renters in mind. In addition, this is potentially my retirement home! It is very secure, quiet, and perfect for sharing good times with families and friends. The layout invites getting together in the shared areas, while providing peaceful separation for those who need the occasional Florida nap.
The house is all block construction, with a great layout. It is on an island, with two bridges providing access. The property is very safe. If you google Coquina Key, you will see that the island is relatively small. Also, the property is protected from storm surge, because the water sweeps past the island. I bought it because it is great for fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, and napping. By car, it is 3 miles to downtown St. Pete, 35 minutes to Tampa Airport, and two hours to Orlando.
Getting into Tampa Bay requires about 3 to 4 minutes by kayak. It is possible to kayak to downtown St. Pete by kayak from the property. Kayaks are available for use, some at no charge, if arrangements are made in advance. Bring a camera, because you will see beautiful Tampa Bay shots, manatees in season, dolphins, rays, plenty of fish, and many birds, such as egrets, diving ducks, great blue Herons, and Night Herons.
