Amazing home with a beautiful view!
Since this was our first experience using VRBO (actually our first vacation home rental), we were skeptical and a little hesitant. But from the first time we contacted the owners, Albert and Marsal Vanetti, we felt reassured that we had made the right decision. The owners were quick to respond to our every inquiry in a friendly manner. We rejected another rental because the owner's response was just the opposite (delayed, unfriendly...where's the Aloha spirit?) There was plenty of Aloha spirit with the rental process of the Pineapple Palace!
We are a senior couple traveling with our son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter (age 21 months).
Because of the baby, we had safety concerns (pool, stairs) and practical concerns (high chair, baby bed).
The owners have two young children of their own, so they had those items and so much more... children's toys, books, even a playground!
The house is even more awesome than described. The pictures don't do it justice. There are no pictures of bedrooms #2 and 3, but they're lovely, as well. And all the bedrooms, with the exception of the loft, are downstairs. That's a plus when you have "senior" knees!
The kitchen is lovely and very well-equipped. Every appliance, large and small, is available, as well as cooking supplies, pantry items, dishes, utensils, etc. The washer and fryer are a big plus, too.
The only thing we missed at times was air conditioning, as the house got pretty hot when it had been closed up. But once we got "home" and opened up windows on all sides of the house, the trade winds and multiple ceiling fans helped with the cooling.
The pool was nice and in its own locked area. The deck, which runs entirely around the house and is child-friendly, is beautiful. We spent many hours sitting on the deck, watching the tiny fishing village of Milolii and the beautiful sunsets.
This is a lovely place to stay if you want a midway point between Kona and Hilo. It's a drive to get to any restaurants or stores (Ocean View to the south or Captain Cook or Kona to the north), so don't expect a lot of activity in this area. But isn't that the point of vacationing in paradise?
