Little Gasparilla Island House Rental Photos and Description
Sand, sun, and water during the day....lazy, tropical breezes at night

Cracker Landing is aptly named for the Florida owner's affinity for the Florida Crackers who settled this land. The owner is descended from many early settlers to southwest Florida. The name reflects a respect for the beauty of the coastal island and for the lovely, interesting life the waters provide. The home is situated in the middle of the island, requiring about a two minute walk to the

beach....approximately 500 feet to the boardwalk. Gentle breezes blow most of the time. There are community boat ramps for those who wish to bring their own boat. There is also a water taxi available for hire at minimal rates. The price quoted will provide you with a trip to the island, a trip off the island when you leave and one during the week should you so choose to use it. If you do not need that service contact the owner for a price break. You will need to pay for parking on the mainland at Eldred's marina, which is currently $6.00 per day.The house is fully air conditioned, has two flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi, and all linens, dishes, and appliances are furnished It is a two-story house with two open decks to sit on. You can relax with your

coffee on either deck as you enjoy the tropical flowers, coconut trees , and watch the ospreys and seagulls as they fly the azure skies.

The inside of the house is mostly paneled with cedar . The upstairs loft-room is also pecky cedar with numerous windows to provide an open feeling. The house has an outdoor shower for showering off the sand from the beach.

I am a third generation Floridian who has a great respect for the 'Old Florida' style of living. That connotation implies a closeness with the land, with honor, and with a more simplistic approach to life. Little Gasparilla provides a peaceful sojourn for me as I watch the Ospreys fly about and as I often watch the incredibly lovely, yet changing colors of the daily sunsets.

My husband and I loved the natural beauty Little Gasparilla Island provides. We built our house in 1984 . It has an abundance of natural cedar wood on the walls; has provided many happy, family times over the years. The appliances are modern, the house well-maintained and is designed with numerous windows for those who like the open feeling.

All comforts of a home setting while being also close to the bay and 7 miles of gorgeous gulf beach. Extra lot next to the house provides for privacy and room for children to play. If you are looking for absolutely gorgeous beach and outstanding fishing...then welcome home, traveler. You have arrived at the right spot.

Cracker Landing is a wonderful house on a secluded Island of Little Gasparilla. We have been coming to the Island for a couple of years now and we love it. We come in Feb and July and love it each season! We have only stayed in the condos before this trip but we decided to rent a house this time and so glad we did. The house is located near the ocean and bay off pier 75. It is a very short walk from the pier to the house and from the house to the beach. Linda and Doug are wonderful and make sure you are completely happy with your stay. They are wonderful people. My husband and I brought our 16 yr old daughter and her friend and they had a blast as always. They have been coming here
with us for the last 2 years on the Island and love it. They love to explore and hang out and read on the beach. We always rent a golf cart while on the Island it just makes it a bit easier if bringing coolers and other things to the beach but it is not necessary since the island is only a 1/4 mile wide and seven miles long. Which means you can walk from the bay to the ocean in about 5 mins. The house is very comfortable. The girls loved the upstairs loft with all the windows and the birds eye view of the kitchen to check what was cooking. They are 3 beds upstairs and a large smart TV to enjoy with netflix. The kitchen is very spacious and they have all the pot and pans needed for anything you will want to prepare. They also have a stand alone icemaker and it is great for filling a small cooler with ice for the beach! Did I mention the trach compactor which is a great asset to the kitchen and helps with less garbage which is a great on a island! The livingroom also has a large smart Tv with netflix aswell. The master bedroom is wonderful with a nice king
size bed to enjoy after the sun at the beach! The large wrap around deck is a great bonus and we spent many hours playing card out there. The house also has a outside private shower...It is great!!! We all planned who would have it first after the beach each day.....the teenagers won most of the week but they had great fun showering outside. The home is very secluded so no worries about peeper lol ! I would recommend this home to couples and/or families it's great for both. Thanks so much Linda and Doug for letting us get away from the Winter for awhile. We Love LGI and Cracker Landing!

Staying at Cracker Landing is wonderful for northerners in the winter. Everything on the island is green and flowers bloom. Most every day is sunny and when chilly, a light jacket will do. As the temperature can vary, it is a good idea to check the long range forecast to be sure you have appropriate clothing. Shorts and sandals are the usual attire.

The short boat ride to the island is one of the attractions. Wildlife includes Ospreys nesting on posts along the way. This is a bird watchers delight.

The home is a short walk from the dock and a quick ride if you rent a golf cart. I would recommend renting a golf cart if you want to explore the whole island. However, if you enjoy walking, the island can be seen on foot. The roads are of sand and many scenic homes are seen from them. The sort walk to the beach is hastened by using the golf cart which can also carry your provisions such as books, towels, snacks, and field guides.

The home, like all on the island, is raised one story above the ground and accessed by stairs. It is furnished for comfort and relaxation, with everything you will need for your stay. Do stop on the mainland and purchase food for your stay. It is easily transported to the island, and ask that groceries be bagged for a boat. The stores will double bag your items. There are no stores on the island to distract from your relaxing get-a-way.

While I have not stayed with children, this is a child friendly home. It is a safe environment where children have freedom to explore.

I have stayed at Cracker Landing several times and am ready to return. The owners are congenial and helpful.

Cracker Landing offered my family and me a terrific chance to sit down and do things together that we forget to do in the hubbub and rush of our lives on the mainland. The beach is gorgeous, the bay lovely and the house provides a really comfortable setting with all the modern conveniences yet a sense of privacy and a time for reflection. Each day, my family and I had an opportunity to discover something new and exciting at the beach.

My husband and son enjoyed fishing off the dock and attempting to catch shrimp when the current was flowing. My daughter and I spent most of the time looking for shells at the beach and building sandcastles near the water. The house is two story with two twin beds in the loft and a double bed. The main floor bedroom is spacious and has a king-sized bed. There are two bathrooms and a large tiled shower. The entire house is furnished nicely and is designed for leisurely activities. We loved staying there and hope to return again next year.
