After a day of sightseeing or hanging out at the beach, my home welcomes you back with Hawaiian hospitality. Before the evening activities, you might want to take a short nap out back in the hammock, catch up on the latest news on the 47' TV or with the free WiFi, or grill some fresh Hawaiian shish-ka-bobs from Hibachi's on the patio. After dinner in the beautiful dining room, you can go for a leisurely bike ride through this lovely neighborhood. And then catch the beautiful Hawaiian sunset -- it can't be beat. After getting one of best nights of sleep you've had in a long time, thanks to some of the most comfortable linens available and awesome mattresses, you get the tough decision of what to do today... Catching the sunrise? Snorkeling? Surfing? Checking out the sea turtles? The list goes on & on.
The house has 2 private bedrooms with closet storage. There is also a queen bed situated off to the side of the great room, and the leather sofa is also a queen size bed.
For your entertainment, the house has WiFi, a 47' flat screen TV with DVD player, boogie boards, a surf board, snorkeling equipment, 2 bikes, etc.
Just bring your shorts, shirts, sandals, bathing suits, and toothbrush & you're set to go.
I am Don. I spent the early years of my childhood on Bellows Beach, just around the corner from Kailua. I love it here. One unexpected benefit of sharing our home is we are so excited about Kailua and Hawaii, in general that we love for others to experience this wonderful place. Our guests have told us how sad they are to leave. We remind them that the Islands will be here for them when they return.
Mari Stela is from Rio de Janeiro and grew up on Ipanema Beach. (She is my 'Girl from Ipanema.') She was skeptical that anything could compare with Rio. The moment she stepped through the beach access onto Kailua Beach she said she knew that this is where she wanted to spend the rest of her life. It blew Ipanema Beach away.
We both love the water and out of doors. Mari Stela is a Dance instructor and helps our guests with what they need to have a memorable Hawaii experience.
We live in Phoenix, full time due to other life commitments. Our plan is to one day, live in Kailua, Hawaii full time.
Kailua has the best location in all of the Islands. It has all of the charm of a small beach town with easy access to Honolulu.
I picked this house for my own retreat. I looked at many. It had the right balance of seclusion, beach access, compactness and efficiency, airport proximity, and charm. It made it possible for us to leave on the 8AM Hawaiian Airlines flight and be on the beach by 1. Where else can you do that?
We have outfitted this house with 'the best.' The bedding is all Martha Stewart 600 thread count, the kitchen pots, pans and utensils are all Williams and Sonoma first quality.
In July, we will be hanging a very large (7'x5.5') original oil by Pat Bailey on the dining room wall. If you stay with us before then and wonder about the 3 spot lights on the wall, they are for this art we want you to enjoy.
We have tried to ensure most of what you need to have fun is provided - boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, bikes and surfboard.
