Perfect Location and
We have stayed at this house many times and always enjoy it. The location in mid-coast Maine puts you about 1 1/2 hr drive to Bar Harbor/Mt. Desert, Freeport, Augusta or Boothbay Harbor attractions. The house is located on a quiet side of the inner harbor with great views out to sea, yet is an easy walk to the shops, restaurants, and public wharf area in downtown Camden. The house itself has been extensively remodeled in recent years and offers plenty of indoor and outdoor space, so a larger family or group of travelers are not crowded. The patio, and two levels of decks offer great views and a perfect place to sprawl out with a cold drink, a good book and binoculars to check out the boats and harbor. The wood stove is great on a rainy and chilly day or park yourself in the big bay window in the kitchen and watch the clouds roll across the bay. Large screen TV w/cable is now available or bring your own movies for watching (this room not included in the photos.) There is plenty of natural light throughout the house. A supply of books and puzzles helps to fill in some of the blank hours or you can just doze on the deck. Being on the "non-tourist" side of the inner harbor, you are also on the working side and, for a change of pace, can walk down to see some of the large boats in for provisioning or repairs. There are several nice walks around the neighborhood, too.
2 full baths & 2 half baths, laundry facilities, gas range and a dishwasher are some of the other benefits of this house. The house is always ready for new renters - clean and with detailed information/instructions for the new person, plus some information on local attractions. The owners are available by phone to help with any questions and quick to respond to any problems that might come up. The Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville area has plenty of things to do from a sail on a schooner, visiting a winery, touring a lighthouse or visiting galleries/museums (not to mention shopping.) Nearby Mt. Battie has many hiking trails. Check out the local Chamber of Commerce building at the Public Landing for information on what to see, do and where to eat suggestions. Skip the chain restaurants and eat local. There are several great diners - Marriners's in Camden, Moody's in Waldoboro and a real bargain is Scott's lunchstand in Reny's Plaza on the south end of Camden.
We have stayed here in three seasons, and it has always been a great place to relax and make ourselves at home.
