What a treat to stay in this beautiful and indeed authentic house in the old, historic centre of Edam! Our host, Cocky went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. We arrived with our two little boys by train in a nearby town and she picked us up, drove us to her house where sweet 'Sinterklaas' treats awaited us. During our stay she even offered to do our laundry, as there is no other place in Edam to have this done. We are extremely grateful to her warm care!
The house is very cosy, tastefully decorated with paintings and ceramics made by Cocky's husband and son. Dutch Delft Blue tiles behind the stove, books, CD's and movies on the bookshelves, plants and candles create a homey touch. The beds are very comfy! The kitchen is equipped with an induction stove, fast and safe for small hands.
The house is compact and efficient, ideal for a couple or when travelling with small children. We visited in the winter, but the rose garden promises a wonderful place to hang out in summer. The small city of Edam is full of character, history, sweet little stores, market places and squares. The bakery, small grocer, bar and restaurants are just around the corner. We rented bikes for a day from a nearby bike store, where they have great tandem bikes (children ride themselves in front of you). Cocky has put together all the information you need, gave plenty of tips and showed us the way.
Overall a really wonderful stay, we highly recommend it!
