"The Best Kept Secret in Kona"- the Lani Kai was everything we'd hoped for. Gave us a feeling of tranquility right away- perfectly cleaned, private, peaceful, beautiful. Living room, dining room, kitchen flow together in a large space- perfect for entertaining and cooking- dodor is tasteful Hawaiian-themed but not overdone. Be sure to try out the Sonos sound system for great music while cooking or sipping wine. The kitchen is much larger than it looks in the pictures- plenty of space for multiple cooks and guests- and a 5 ft. pass through from kitchen to grill/ patio area (with large Weber grill) is wonderful. The master bedroom and bath- Wow, just beautiful- and with its own private lanai. The huge, walk-in, floor-to-ceiling installed closet/shelving in the master has enough room for about a year's worth of clothes, shoes, etc. The master bathroom is quite large with custom tile work throughout, a walk-in shower, separate Jacuzzi tub, and two sinks. The yard and pool (sparkling clean) are beautiful and the outdoor seating and dining area make the outdoors it's own living space. The location of the house is one of its best features. It's on a sloping, terraced hillside so that your view isn't obscured by other houses- you see the ocean, greenery, and the harbor area below. It's close to downtown Kona but outside of the hustle and bustle. It's in a residential area so you don't feel like a tourist. It's no exaggeration that it's so quiet that all you'll hear is birds chirping. I almost feel bad about writing all this because it may mean that so many people will flock here that we won't be able to stay here again (which we definitely would like to do again and again).

Everything about our week long stay at this beautiful home with gorgeous views was beyond our expectations. We loved waking up to the songbirds, drinking tea on the lanai, and planning our day with 180 degree views of the ocean in a quiet peaceful environment. Although it was sometimes hard to leave the beauty and peacefulness of the house, most activities are just a few minutes away. You can go on amazing runs right out the front door, there are beautiful beaches and snorkeling adventures close by, and grocery stores and fresh markets are just minutes away. We loved coming back after a day at the beach to a refreshing clean pool, a very well equipped kitchen, a large barbeque to grill fresh fish, and comfortable lanai furniture to sit on while enjoying a mai tai and watching a beautiful sunset (occasionally with whales in sight). We fit quite nicely in this house with 2 couples and 3 teenagers. We will definitely return!!

Gorgeous home with a jaw dropping sunsets every evening. This home has everything, a gourmet kitchen, beatiful living room with sweeping views, clean and well furnished. The kitchen opens to a stunning outdoor space for dining outside. You could spend all your time just sitting by the pool and soaking in the Kona view. Truly amazing.
It was quiet and very private but it was only a few minutes to the ocean. We spent a day driving the island and the different microclimates and gained a great appreciation for the drier, relatively windless side on the island.
Perfect location, perfect property, perfect vacation.
My only complaint is we had to leave.

The home was beautiful, spacious and clean in a very quiet neighbourhood. The pool was great, and the view was sooo AMAZING! We enjoyed watching the sunset daily and we truly didn't want to leave the property it was so relaxing. The listing photos are accurate, and don't capture how beautiful the property is, or that amazing view.
The grocery store, beaches and restaurants were close by. Jim (the owner) was very easy to work with and helpful in answering our questions.
I would highly recommend this property to everyone.

Perched high up on the hills overlooking the coast between Kona and Keauhou, the views from the patio / lanai/ pool area are magnificent, especially at sunset. It is a terrific place for outdoor living, cooking local fresh fish on the gas grill, dipping in and out of the clean, well-maintained pool and lying in the warm Hawaii sun. It was so nice that on two of our 6 days in the house we chose to just hang out there rather than getting in the car to go to one of the Kohala beaches, or sightseeing elsewhere.

Despite the views, the property is still very private due to the careful design of the lot.

Inside, everything is clean and tidy and the kitchen is well-appointed.

There were two families, each of us with one young child, and it was the perfect size for us.

You're about 5 minutes from the KTA supermarket, 3 minutes from the amazing snorkeling at Kaalahuu beach and 10 minutes from anywhere else in Kona. It's convenient, yet still quiet and tucked away in an exclusive community.

Nestled on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Kona coastline, just minutes from Alii Drive, beaches and local shopping, this beautiful home is the perfect vacation getaway. Situated to capture coastline views and evening sunsets, it's an easy choice to stay "home," lounge by the pool and barbecue outdoors. A lovely family room offers the perfect spot to hunker down for games or tv viewing, and a wonderfully appointed kitchen makes it easy to pull together meals. And with its great location and easy access to the coastal highway, it's just minutes to the beach, the hubbub of town, local sights, and area restaurants if you want to venture out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay... some days in and some days out exploring. Perfection!

We arrived in Kona mid-morning, thinking we would go on an excursion that afternoon, but once we got to the house, we didn't want to leave. Beautiful and comfortable all at once, this house is everything you could possibly hope for in a vacation rental, and a few surprises that you never even knew you wanted. We relaxed by the pool and had a great BBQ the whole first day. On top of the house being beyond-wonderful, Jim, the owner and Connie, the property manager were both super-friendly, helpful and accommodating. We could not have imagined a better experience, and in fact, we are plotting our next trip to Kona already and know we we stay here again.

We had an absolutely amazing time in Kona! The pictures, and discription of this home were beautiful. However, I have to say, I'm kind of glad that the photos didn't capture everything. It's usually pretty hard to surprise me, as my expectations can surpass the reality of what may have NOT been shared in photos. I felt refreshed from the moment I walkedin.

We had 2 days of horrific travel before reaching our vacation home. The snow storm in the East, and no available flights from Honolulu to Kona caused a 2 day delay in our vacation. My #1 recommendation for a visit to the Big Island is....Make sure you have secured tickets to Kona before you come. We came during high season, but I had no idea that there was such limited transportation. So, don't come thinking of hopping between islands.

WOW!! When we finally arrived the house....I almost forgot our 2 day struggle. The breeze flowing through the home, and the view, were second to none in Kona. The decor inside was upscale, yet had an at home feel to it, and very clean. The bedrooms were inviting, and very comfortable.

One day we drove a bit to try another beach, and we noticed a sign that said "Lookout Point". So we pulled off to take in Kona from another angle. We were literally back in the car in 1 minute, laughing. We were so spoiled! The view from this home was just as fabulous. We were dining and relaxing every day in front of this scenery. We watched dolphins, and even whales swim right from the back view. We rarely used the pool, though it was very nice and clean. We have children, and spent most of our days at the beach.

We have 7 children, ages 7 through 21. Our older boys stayed at a hotel nearby, but we spent most of our hours together as a family. It's usually difficult to entertain all ages at the same time...but not here. I was so pleased to have all of our children enjoying themselves, and interacting. The beaches, just minutes away, offered the best snorkling, boogie boarding, and surfing.

I'm not a blogger, and sadly, though I love to read reviews, I have only written a handful. I often wonder when I see a review this positive...if it was added by a friend or hired on. We are not friends of the owners, however, they were wonderful to work with. They even offer an auto rental with the home, which we used. I, honestly would recommend this home, and my husband and I plan to revisit in the future. I would definatly come to this home again.
