This was our first visit to the big island, and I think we chose well in renting this condo. The location is excellent, a few minute's drive to Kailua-Kona, easy to get to the beautiful beaches north like Hapuna and Kekaha Kai. Longer drive to Volcanoes National Park, but very doable for a day trip. We even had time to stop at Black Sands beach on our volcano trip, though we chose not to take the 2.5 mile hike to Green Sands due to time.
The views from the condo are gorgeous, we saw turtles and many fishes in the surf right from our room, and it faces the west for amazing sunsets. The condo is very well equipped, we loved using the boogie boards and other gear provided, also well stocked kitchen, all the pans, dishes, utensils and appliances that you probably use at home daily. We barely used the A/C because of the cross breezes and huge ceiling fan.
The shower is great, nice size for 1 person, NOT one of those tiny corner things that you can't even turn around in. And 2 shower heads is a nice touch. The furnishings are comfortable and 'beachy' without being over the top or kitschy. The teak table and bar stools are beautiful, king bed very comfortable, dresser big enough for our stuff, and super-convenient to have a computer and wifi in the room. The room actually sleeps 4 because of the pull out couch and there are 4 barstools for dining.
The pool is moderately sized, but never crowded and nice to have if you just want to take a dip without going out to the beach. There are also 2 BBQs by the pool, with 2 large table and chair sets and 6 lounge chairs.
I think the only negative I could mention is also a positive, the 3rd floor location brings those amazing views and total privacy, it's just a little difficult to haul heavy bags, groceries, and gear up and down. So maybe not good for someone with limited mobility.
We would definitely stay in this condo again, and would recommend to friends and family. Wonderful stay!
