A Lovely Oasis In The Desert

We enjoyed our stay here. Pete was always responsive prior to our arrival, answering all my questions. The home is a little older, but still beautiful and more than enough for us (2 couples). No neighbors close by – it was nice and quiet. We had a great time reading by the pool and dining alfresco almost every night. The kitchen was well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Pete and Janeen are very generous with their toys. Would recommend to do your major shopping prior to coming to town; Borrego Springs is a small town. The Friday market in Christmas Circle was a great place to find fresh produce and interesting home-made items. Our favorite restaurant was Carmelitas, but go early on a Saturday night to avoid the wait. The pool and hot tub are beautiful… but chilly -- even for us northerners! Enjoyed walking around the golf course. Interesting reading about the history of Rams Hill. Recommend hitting the visitors center soon after you settle in. The hike in Palm Canyon and the Jeep tour were both highlights. Our nine days went by so quickly . . . Came home so rested . . . Thanks to Pete and Janeen for being so welcoming and sharing their home. I hope to return.

We were thrilled to find such a quiet elegant spot waiting for us after a fascinating drive into the desert. The view across the desert to the mountains was so calming and the birdsong made it perfect. We were so comfortable, lovely house with everything provided. We sat out every evening and followed the night sky. We look forward to a return visit.

We never expected this nice of a home when we booked. What a pleasant surprise! The owners left nothing to chance. Fully stocked kitchen, beautiful furniture, pool, etc etc. Fabulous location and the views from the deck were endless. We escaped from the Real Estate world and did we ever relax! We will be back...no question. Thanks, Pete for a wonderful experience.

Really nice house &location. Owner extremely helpful. Clean&well maintained. Pictures of house are accurate. Kitchen& barbecue great. Swimming pool water too cold when we rented (early march). I would highly recommend this property to both family and friends.

Four magic days/nights!

No words will be sufficient -- this place has to be experienced. Great property/amenities, fantastic views of desert/mountains in the day time, at the night you will see unbelievable vistas of stars, nebulae, galaxies, etc. Owners of the property did a great job of preparing everything for our visit, so we really felt ourselves at home and were really sad to have to leave. We'll be back for sure!

Delightful desert destination

If you desire solitude wrapped in the convenience of a secure, nicely appointed gated community with an eyeball expanding view, huge open areas to wander, and a spacious home to restore yourself in, we'll, look no further. The property was very clean though just a slight touch dated by time and the harsh desert weather, but I really feel that the owners are constantly working to make improvements and they are both delightful to deal with. My only complaint is that it was already booked when we wanted to go back!
We had a few meals at the Red Ocotillo, 2220 Hoberg Rd. very good food but don't be in a hurry! Arrive for lunch early if you want to enjoy the patio while in the shade. Kendall's Cafe located on the back side of the mall is good for all three meals though I miss wine or beer at dinner.
If you're a first timer and hike, the highly rated Palm Canyon hike deserves its' accolades. Lots of boulder scrambling at the top for those who want some challenge. Hellhole is another.

Large Executive style home in Rams Hill.

Shortly after arriving at this beautiful home I had the pleasure of meet the owner. He is very helpful & walked through the home showing me how everything operates, including the TV remotes. Sunday the wind blew very hard, but the home never complained & it remained quiet & very comfortable in the spacious living room with a fire burning in the fireplace. On Tuesday morning we were rewarded with calm weather, blue sky’s & snow capped mountain peaks which are breathtakingly beautiful.
The kitchen is large with double oven, four burner stove, dish washer, large refrigerator & microwave. There is a separate small freezer in the garage which is great for storing extra ice & frozen items. The breakfast nook & formal dining areas are large & can seat 8 adults comfortably. Having a separate bar area helps to keep things organized & clutter free. The master suite is enormous with an over size spa tub, double walk-in closet & double sliding doors that open up to the swimming pool & beautiful views of the desert floor.
Sitting on the patio in the morning watching the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee or a Bloody Mary was one of our favorite times of the day. The views are spectacular of Ocotillo Wells, Split Mtn., Sand Damn, Fonts Point, the Bad Lands, Coyote Canyon & Montezuma grade. Sipping a refreshing cocktail in the evening was made much more enjoyable when you are surrounded by such gorgeous views. The pool area is large & completely walled in with latching gates makes it a great place for kids & small pets to play. The town of Borrego Springs is a short 5 minute drive as is two other award winning golf courses. The Rams Hill community is very private with security personnel at the gate; it’s very clean & great for evening walks.
As avid off-roaders my family & I have been coming to Anza-Borrego & Ocotillo Wells since 1969 (yeah that officially make me an old-fart) & I can honestly say that this is the first time that we have been so comfortable & had such a pleasant stay. We normally stay at our “Sugar Shack” off Split Mountain Rd. in Ocotillo Wells, but as is customary this time of the year a large crowed of our friends arrived & some of us decided to explore other accommodations. We were fortunate to discover that this home was available for the dates we needed. During our last day at this magnificent home a friend of mine asked me if I would consider staying here again next year, my reply to him was “Why wouldn’t we”?
