About Janice Cole

We have lived and worked in the Fort Worth area for 28 years and absolutely love this part of our city. We raised our 3 children in nearby Aledo TX and are both native Texans.

Janice Cole purchased this house in 2011
Why Janice Cole chose Fort Worth

We couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase this little house and restore it to a cozy home for our daughter to live in during college. A complete renovation included new plumbing, A/C and heating, gas and electric lines, adding an addition, new bathrooms, restoring the original hardwood floors,.... the list goes on and on. You get the picture. Alice has graduated now and we would love to share it with you!

What makes this house unique

The location of this home makes it ideal for a visit to Fort Worth. You will be minutes to anywhere you need to go in town. The quiet, family neighborhood invites a stroll down the side walk or a back yard BBQ.

Alice's House was in a perfect location for our stay for our daughter's graduation from TCU. It was 10 minutes from campus, 10 minutes from the Central Market grocery store and 5 minutes from the Ft. Worth Zoo, which our grandchildren really enjoyed. The house itself was very clean, and updated with a great backyard for the kids to play in. There were four adults and three children under the age of 10 and we were very comfortable. It might have been a little tight with three active children if the weather hadn't been so nice, but we were able to use the backyard for eating and playing.

Fantastic House! Best I've Ever Stayed In

Fantastic House! Best I've Ever Stayed In

A group of six of us stayed here for a conference. It was so cute and clean, and everything we needed was provided for us. The one problem we had while we were there was taken care of within a couple hours while we were at dinner (a sprinkler system had been installed and the water line had issues that caused the clean water tank of one of the toilets to continue to spill water out of the top after flushing). Instructions for working everything are easy to follow and contained in one notebook. There's a Keurig and coffee, ice, and even toiletries. Uverse wi-fi and tv was superconvenient, and we even watched one of the DVDs provided.

The house provided ample space- the master bedroom with bath could have had an air mattress in there with the queen bed. One of the bedrooms had two twins that could be pushed together as a King. Another had a queen bed. The sofa turned into a bed, and the kitchen area is so big that we were able to put a large air mattress in there so everyone had their own bed!

The master and one bedroom had desks, plus there was a dining room table that could be used to work on, and there was a big armchair/ottoman in the master plus a large sofa and armchair in the living room, so we kept thinking it would be the perfect spot for a writing retreat. We didn't get to use the outside area, but there was a nice table in back with 4 chairs that would be perfect for eating/working outside.

The location was so convenient to the convention center- an easy trip down the freeway 2 or 3 exits. It was so simple and easy to come back if you had a long break in the middle of the day. With 6 of us on different schedules, we loved the convenience of having a keypad entry- we didn't have to keep track of keys plus we didn't have to wait for anyone else before coming back. There are lots of museums nearby, and a great park/bike trail. One of our group rented a bike and rode the trail while we were there. We drove into Dallas to a concert at House of Blues and it was an easy 30 minute drive. Six Flags was only about 20 miles away too, so this is the perfect house for that- close enough to be convenient, but far enough away from the madness

Highly recommend staying here, and we'll definitely stay here again! Thank you so much Janice!

Alice's house is precious! I met two of my girlfriends in Fort Worth for a girls weekend and this place was perfect. It was spacious enough for us to spread out and SO much better than a cramped hotel room. The decor is beautiful and well put together. The beds and furniture are super comfortable and we loved having a glass of wine on the back porch and catching up. Also, downtown and the Stockyards were very easy to get to. Absolutely zero complaints about Alice's house - we loved it!

Alice's House is an immaculate property that was true to description and even better. Janice is wonderful to work with - happily kept in touch with me before and during our stay. This is a charming refurbished bungalow with ample sized rooms and loads of comfortable Texas character. Extra large kitchen was equipped with modern appliances and the cabinets were fully stocked with any dishes or utensils needed. Being coffee lovers, we greatly appreciated the Keurig and the different options of K-cups. Plenty of elbow room and counter space in each of the modern baths, with the master boasting a walk in closet. The little touches - snack mix, facial cloths, fluffy towels, a folder chock full of area info and maps - exemplifies the pride this owner takes in her home and ensuring the comfort of her guests.
I was visiting my daughter at TCU, so this was an ideal location located centrally to restaurants, attractions, and the campus. The nights we came in late, the friendly family neighborhood and the sensor lights made us feel very safe during our stay. Neighbor's dog barked a bit, but it was usually when there was someone walking down the alley.
I highly recommend Janice and her charming Alice's House to anyone looking for a home away from home, a place to really unpack and hang your clothes, put your feet up, watch some tv, and enjoy a sit down, pajama clad breakfast with friends or family.

Alice's House was perfect for our one week stay in the Ft. Worth area. My brother and I came with our families for a wedding. We wanted more room to have our kids play together and relax as opposed to staying at the hotel designated for the wedding. It was a great decision! We were able to escape the Ft. Worth traffic (major construction on most freeways right now) and cook many meals at the house while being close enough to all the other wedding activities with family.

It was a perfect set-up with one wing for my brother, sis-in-law and their baby, and the other two bedrooms on the other wing for my husband and I and our two kids. We live in the mountains so a flat backyard with grass to play ball, run around and eat outside was so much fun for our kids! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with (along with the grill outside which we used most of the time!) plenty of games for the kids and in a quiet neighborhood. There is a track and outdoor exercise equipment about 1/4 mile down the road if you have the need to workout during your stay (or run along the neighborhood - very little traffic).

Janice was easy to work with - responding to any emails very quickly. We had two minor maintenance issues and she responded ASAP and had one fixed while we were out for a few hours. Deposit returned very quickly.

Great house, very clean, very convenient to freeway access, etc. Great stay - Thanks Janice!

Great place to stay

This is a great place to stay, It was in walking distance to some very well known places Amon Carter Museum. the zoo is within ten miles from the place. We visited the Botanical Gardens and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Great Wolf Lodge is about forty minutes away. There was some great shopping areas for food around as well, so you could enjoy the Kitchen in the home. The property was clean and well maintained. i would recommend this property to friends. There was several places of worship in the area. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We had our three year old with us he enjoyed the back yard. There should probably be some outlet protectors in the house to be used at the renters discretion. There was some plants that had berrys on them that where questionable.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the input, I will get some outlet covers to have available for guests to use. I'll check out the plants too. Been a long time since I had to think about that!

My girlfriends and I stayed at Alice House for a little staycation last weekend and had a great time! Alice house comfortably sleeps 8, the house was very homey with bright colorful colors and comfortable furniture. The first night we stayed in and played board games and the next night we had dinner off 7th before heading down to Sundance Square. The location of Alice House was a quick and cheap cab ride from somegreat restaurants and bars. Overall, we were thrilled with our stay and will definitely recommend to our family and friends

Great house!

This home had everything we could need and, beyond that, was super cute and cozy. We were able to walk to the stock yards, museums, and botanical gardens. There were plenty of towels and linens, and the kitchen had everything we needed to eat in. My only (small) complaint would be the pet hair found in the living area couch and rug. Though the house has a no pet policy, I wonder if maybe a previous visitor broke that rule. I couldn't seem to stop sneezing all weekend.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the great review. To answer your concern, I don't think there has been a dog in the house but the living room rug, being new, does tend to shed. The sofa, being dark brown, really shows those rug fibers.

Best VRBO we have ever stayed in

5 of 5
Submitted: January 15, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
We have stayed in a dozen or more VRBO apartments and houses in 4 or 5 states. We have almost always had positive experiences .... but this Fort Worth property was by far the best. In fact it prompted this, my first-ever review!

The location is superb - 2 minutes from the Museum District, close to downtown, restaurants, Zoo, TCU, Central Market etc. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and it is a wonderful place to stay. Spacious, very comfortable, spotless and extremely well-appointed (great appliances, COMPLETELY-equipped kitchen, wonderful bed, nice bathrooms, fast internet). Off-street parking for 2 cars, fenced yard, BBQ -everything you could ask for. The house has been furnished and decorated with great taste and style. It is even nicer than the photos and it made a wonderful base for a great weekend in Fort Worth for the 4 of us. Better than any hotel in every way.

The owners are nice folks and extremely easy to deal with - they provided very prompt and professional responses plus a guide to local favorites/sights on the kitchen table. We are really glad that they rent out this wonderful house.

All in all, Alice's House is highly, highly recommended.
