About Christine Wilkinson

I work for the Department of Education providing physical therapy for special needs children. My late husband was one of the leading landscape contractors in Hawaii and built the 9 hole golf course on our property to showcase his talents.

Christine Wilkinson purchased this estate in 1979
Why Christine Wilkinson chose Waikane

The property was a trout farm in the 1950's. Children from all over Oahu came to fish. We bought the property because it was perfect for my husband's landscape and nursery. He soon set his sights turning the many assets of the property into his private golf course.

What makes this estate unique

Along with the cool waters of the Waiahole Stream, the half acre pond, the many specimen trees (including one of the most majestic monkey pod trees in Hawaii), and the close proximity to the ocean, it is the magnificent views of Waiahole Valley that provide such a great Oahu living experience.

Staying here was quite possibly the best decision I have made in a very long time. Before the trip, I reviewed a lot of places online, and partly due to the fast and curteous response by Christine, I chose to stay here. Everyone was so glad I did. We arrived a bit later than expected, and clearly dragging after our 14 hours of air travel, Christine and her partner had the property fresh and ready. They provided us a very quick run-down a out the house, and local area -- offering some great dining suggestions (Haleiwa Joes was great and close).

The building is a lovely two story building with bedrooms upstairs, and a lanai that wraps around 3/4 of the top level. As the pictures show the view is that of a beautifully landscaped lawn and koi pond, surrounded by tropical forest with a cool clear mountain stream that winds around the property. (One of the best activities during the trip was going "stream walking" as Christine called it with my girlfriend and 8 year old daughter. Much of the time we were happy just standing on the porch or in the hammock taking in the view. The most amazing thing in my opinion was waking up in the morning to the sound of the stream, and distant birds in the forest. I considered taping the sound, as it was truly remarkable.

My gf's brother who is in the Navy stayed with us, and shared that it is by far the nicest house he has been in since he arrived on the island. It is also conveniently located approx 20-30 min from Kaneohe and 35 min from the North Shore and Waikiki. The only qualm we had was unfortunately something that nobody could help-- the weather. There was not a full sunny day the whole 8 days we were there. That being said when the sun did briefly peek out, we ventured to the beach at Kualoa, which is beautiful and roughly 10 minutes away.

Overall this rental far exceeded our expectations, and when we come back-- and we will-- we will be staying there again. Thank you again!!!!

Just spent a week at "Back to Eden" and can vouch for what a true oasis of calm and beauty it is. If you're looking to get away from the crowds this is the place for you. Sleeping with the window's open, listening to the little stream that runs through the property...wowsville for sure. Garden of Eden will inspire you to find the Oahu that doesn't come with shopping malls and mobs of tourists. You get more of what it feels like to actually live in paradise. And our hosts, Chris and Buddy, were as wonderful people as you could ask for anywhere. We'll be back for sure!!!

My wife and I with my sons family and my 2 daughters stayed at 'back to Eden' for a week, last January. This is set back next to the foothills it very secluded with a fully equipped Kitchen and overlooks a beautiful lake with beautiful fish . This site is surrounded by flowers and plants, The Owner (Chris) was always ready to help and suggested a great place to go when we had high tide. This place is really suitable for families with children. This was a place it was hard to leave to going to the city because of the gorgeous nature and lake. This was a great quiet retreat for us to relax. I can't wait to return.

TRUE HAWAII

Me and my wife have stayed at 'back to Eden' for a week, last december. The two storey house has been recently renovated, it's very cozy, fully equipped and overlooks a beautiful lake and a minigolf court. The position of the propriety is really secluded even if it is no more than a five minutes drive from the main road that runs along the ocean shore. The house is surrounded by an astonishing nature, gorgeous flowers and plants, and you can feel a comforting sense of peace and harmony as soon as you arrive, greeted warmly by Chris, the discreet owner of the lovely propriety, and Buddy, her companion, which they reside in the small cottage close to the rental, and they are always ready to help and give assistance for any questions or concerns. The accomodation is really suitable for large families with children and for groups of adventurous friends seeking for a great base for a full immersion in Hawaii's gorgeous nature, or also for anybody looking for a quiet retreat for a replenishing period of meditation and rest.
Definitely a great choice, worth every penny.

Everything we DREAMED it would be!

Our family of 5 stayed here this past summer for a week long family vacation/reunion. This property was everything we dreamed that our Hawaiian vacation would be--tropical, peaceful, a great gathering spot and LOTS of fun things for the kids to do! We hiked, did walks in the stream and danced under the stars. It felt like we were transported from everything stressful in life. We flew back to Texas feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and couldn't stop telling everyone about what a great time we'd had. We will definitely go back!!!
