We recently stayed a week with our two young kids and found everything to be absolutely wonderful - just as described here. When we made the reservation there were no user reviews yet, so we hoped for the best. I think the pictures capture the condo very well. We walked through the Waikoloa area very extensively while visiting, and thought that Kolea was the best location for overall comfort and access to the beach. All of the other condo complexes in Waikoloa seem to cater to golfers rather than beachgoers and we are not golfers. Within the complex, this location was also great. The kids LOVED being able to run out and play on the grass, and we found that the lanai was much more private than many other units. Though there was no view of the beach, we also didn't face a busy sidewalk or driveway. It was very peaceful. The unit is located on the side of the complex closest to the beach access and is an easy walk to the swimming pool, fitness center, etc. The furniture is very comfortable, appliances are high quality, and all of the cookware, dishes, linens and even beach toys that we needed were there. Except for some stains in the heaviest traffic areas of the light-colored carpeting (which didn't bother us a bit), everything was clean and in perfect order. The owners were great to work with - very prompt with communications, helpful with the logistics, and refunded our damage deposit within 48 hours of our departure. Absolutely no complaints. We went away very happy.
The Waikoloa beach area may not be for everyone - it is exclusively vacation oriented, so if you want to be among the locals, Waikoloa is not the place to do it. But it is vacation paradise and if we ever make it to Waikoloa again we will hope to rent this property.
