Sayulita Cottage Rental Photos and Description
Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

The Garden Cottage is located within the properties of Hacienda de La Costa, an adults-only destination located just south of Sayulita in the Patzcuaro neighborhood. This is an area of mostly estate homes located on acreage which is largely left in its natural “jungle” state. Our area has been designated as an ecological preserve for the protection of nesting sea turtles, birds and other animals.

Our location and amenities make this an ideal setting for those looking to “get away from it all”. You'll enjoy many of the same amenities available to the guests of Hacienda de La Costa. During the day guests tend to spend quality time at the villa or explore the nearby beaches. They wander into Sayulita occasionally but are always anxious to return to the comfort and privacy the property affords.

The Garden Cottage

A few steps down from the pool terrace you’ll find a short cobblestone pathway leading to your private stone patio. The charming 600 square foot Garden Cottage is a nestled within a tropical garden. Designed for double occupancy, the house features vaulted ceilings in the bedroom and living area, marble floors, a walk-in shower, a fully equipped kitchen, ceiling fans, DVD player and queen-size bed.

A washer/dryer are also available for your use.

The Pool Terrace

The epicenter of tropical living is the pool terrace. With ocean views, comfortable double-wide loungers, and a fully stocked honor bar you may just find that you have little reason to wander far.

The Beaches

We’re fortunate to have secluded beaches within walking distance. One of the best is just a 10-15 minute walk on cobblestone road. We have boogie boards, beach towels, coolers, and beach umbrellas on hand for your use.

With owners and staff also on site you can truly relax, check your cares at the door because we're here to make sure your vacation is a wonderful and worry-free experience.

My husband and I left the frozen north in the late 90's, a Canadian and an American living in our Mexican paradise. We've worn many hats over the years but they were all just stepping stones to bring us here. Providing you with the ideal atmosphere for your hard earned vacation is our goal, it's a responsibility that we take seriously. On that note, I should mention that we have a habit of rescuing dogs in dire need of a loving home so please be aware that there are dogs on the property. They’re an independent group and we do our best to limit guest contact but I want to make sure you're not surprised by their existence here.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the garden cottage for 3 nights. We arrived in the evening just in time to watch the sun set over the ocean and whales jumping out of the water - what a welcome! The gardens are beautiful, the kitchen is fully equipped and the cottage is very clean and private. Terry and Steve are very welcoming and knowledgable about the area and happy to help book outings and taxis. They provided boogie boards and beach umbrellas to use at the two secluded beaches which are within walking distance from their place. We can't wait to return in the future.

My husband and I stayed at the Casita last week and absolutely fell in love with it. Sadly, we only stayed 3 nights; next time, we will definitely book a longer stay. Here are some of the things we loved about the Casita:
- It is in it's own separate building that's maybe 50 steps to main house, pool and bar. Being in our own building gave us a sense of privacy and seclusion, which we craved.
- Private patio surrounded by lush foliage (the entire Hacienda is filled with beautiful trees and flowers.)
- It is multi-level, which gives it a spacious feel. We also liked the high ceilings in the bedroom and living room.
- We took advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen. We recommend that you stop at the grocery store on the drive from the airport.
- Even though we only stayed for 3 nights, we felt like we were actually living there temporarily, not just visiting.
- Whether at the pool, bar or the Casita, you can't help but hear the crashing waves of the ocean down the hill... and who doesn't love that?!

Terri is a fantastic cook... don't miss her breakfasts! She also offers dinner twice a week; we weren't there those nights, but our friends said that her dinners were delicious as well. I hope she publishes a cookbook some day.

Steve did not steer us wrong on his restaurant recommendations. He also booked us on a whale-watching trip; there were 4 of us on the boat (it wasn't one of those big boats with too many tourists). We were lucky enough to see Humpback Whales and Dolphins, and then we went snorkeling. It was honestly one of the best days of my life.

Having rescued cats myself, I love that Terri and Steve have rescued dogs and cats at their home... the animals are sweet, gentle and good-natured.

We wanted a place that was off the beaten path - and we happily found it here at the Hacienda. We didn't rent a car, but next time we probably will. If you don't rent a car, bring good walking shoes. However, taxis are plentiful and cheap, and we had no problem at all with them.

The Hacienda was very clean and well-maintained (both the buildings and landscaping, including the pool.) We also loved that the Hacienda is adults only.

Be sure to bring your camera to the pool for the sunsets; the sun goes down fast, but it is a sight to behold!

We cannot recommend Hacienda de la Costa enough, and I am certain that we will return... and for a longer stay next time!
