I Have Only One Wish - That I could have stayed here forever!
My wife and I wanted a unique Wine Country weekend, and decided to give Meadowlake Getaway Guesthouse a try. It is exactly as it says - a designer influenced guest house. It was so well done, that we really wanted to stay there far longer than the two nights that we had rented it for.
The interior was spacious and very comfortable, with a kitchen containing a new convection oven, fridge, wet bar, and plenty of plates, bowls, glasses, etc made for a very comfortable stay. We arrived to find complimentary non-alcoholic beverages in the fridge, various munchies and two bottles of EIEIO wine; a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. While I hadn't heard a lot about this winery, my recent online research found that EIEIO is one of Oregon's highest rated and yet these were provided as part of our stay. What a great addition!
Views from the deck were just incredible; a panorama that seem to go on for miles into the wine country. And if we chose to eat in (we didn't) a full gas Weber grill is on the deck as well. The owner directed us to trails on the property where he said we would find "surprises". And indeed we did - amazing nicely built decks that had even better views of the wine country.
Back to the room. Bed A+, Comfy and very nice. Kitchen A+++, for the limited space, a showpiece. And the bathroom was nicely stocked, and also deserves an A.
Lastly, Meadow Lake Guesthouse offers more than just a "place to stay". We loved hiking the trails through the woods and seeing the views from the lookout decks. We enjoyed running nearby on the quiet hilly roads for a pleasant morning run. We loved driving to the top of the hill to the cottage - into the woods, seeing wildlife (deer) and feeling like we had our own little "romantic place in the woods all to ourselves". Yet despite all that, we were a mere two miles from wineries and restaurants in Carlton, five miles from McMinnville, and a very short drive to many wineries.
We will be back - and soon!
