Welcome to your luxury retreat at Ski Granby Ranch (f.k.a. Sol Vista Ski Basin). The home is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the Tall Timber Cabins development. An aspen grove is off of the front deck, and there are great mountain views throughout the home. You will be within walking distance to the ski run served by the Kicking Horse/Owners' Ski Lift and a short drive to the base lodge. The home feels very private, yet is close to all Granby Ranch and Grand County have to offer. The home is equipped with a whole house humidifier so guests will be more comfortable in the dry air at 8200+ elevation.
The Master Suite features vaulted ceilings, a King bed, a walk-in closet, and private bathroom with tub and shower, slate flooring, custom light fixture and a 26 inch LCD TV with built in DVD player.
The Guest Suite has a California King bed, an aspen rocking chair, dresser, two rustic nightstands, lamps and a closet. A full bathroom is located adjacent to the Guest Suite that can be shared with guests staying in the Loft.
The Loft is accessible by a stairway and features vaulted ceilings, two comfy Queen beds, lamps, armoir with two drawers and a 32' TV with DVD player. A Wii Console, games and Netflix will keep the kids (or you) entertained. The loft is my favorite sleeping area.
The home also features a large living room with a gas fireplace surrounded from floor to ceiling in beautiful stone veneer. The living room also features slate flooring, vaulted ceilings, 8 windows with great views of the mountain, a Queen sofa-sleeper, leather chair and ottoman, rocking chair, beautiful persian rug, coffee table, along with a 46 inch LED HDTV over the fireplace. A small desk and printer also are next to the fireplace for your convenience. The living and dining areas have hand stained hardwood floors.
The kitchen features granite counter-tops, a large island with three stools, next to a round dining table with four chairs. Located next to the dining table is a buffet with an integrated wine rack. The kitchen also features an electric range with glass stove top, microwave oven, toaster oven, dishwasher, coffee-maker, ice-tea maker, along with dishes, mugs, utensils, and various and sundry cooking items such as pots, pans, cookie sheets, mixing bowls etc.
The home also has a covered front porch/deck and a small rear deck. Patio furniture and a small propane BBQ are available during fall, spring and summer.
During the winter you can ski-in to the property via the Home Again trail (snow conditions permitting). You can access the Kicking Horse/Owner's Lift via a short two block walk (3 to 5 minutes) and ski to the base lodge or take a very short drive or shuttle ride to the base lodge.
Snowshoeing, sledding, hiking and mountain biking are right outside my front and rear doors. Granby Ranch also features the Headwaters Golf Course, world class fly-fishing, and mountain biking. Great wild-life viewing is available from my living room and dining areas (e.g., fox, deer, elk, hawks, eagles), not to mention the reasonable drive to Rocky Mountain National Park for additional wild life viewing.
For the adventurous types white water rafting, zip line tours, Rocky Mountain National Park, Hot Sulphur Springs and Grand Lake are all within a short drive.
For the non-adventurous types, tubing, hot tub and swimming pool are available at the ski resort base. Devil's Thumb Ranch also is a short drive and has a full spa, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, horse drawn sleigh rides and other activities for day guests. Alternatively, you can visit Grand Lake, Fraser, Winter Park or the Y of the Rockies for many activities, including boating, horse-back riding, snow-mobiling, dog sled tours, cross-country skiing and shopping.
We love vacationing at Granby Ranch and exploring the Rockies. I have enjoyed skiing, backpacking, camping and hiking since I was a child. I've had the ski bug for some time and have skied all over California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Canada. Once upon a time I worked as a lift operator at Mammoth Mountain (Chair 4) and later worked in a ski shop at the base of Breckenridge.
We have enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking, golfing, and snowshoeing at Granby Ranch. We've explored Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake and love Devils Thumb Ranch for a good meal, happy hour and great spa services.
Granby Ranch is a great launching pad for a fun-filled activity based vacation, or a mellow vacation sitting in front of the fireplace and drinking hot cocoa. I never tire of watching the quaking aspens from my front deck in the summer and fall, nor the foxes that pass by my home.
My property is on the quiet end of a cul-de-sac, yet within walking distance to the ski runs. You may ski back to the back deck of my home via the Home Again Trail (snow conditions permitting). The property is within an easy drive of the resort base lodge, the Grange Hall and close to City Market to stock up on food for your trip, a liquor store, Subway, and McDonalds for the $1 value menu. You also will enjoy the Grange Hall swimming pool and heated in-ground spa, available only to homeowners and their guests.
My favorite room is the Loft. The beds are comfy and the view of the night sky is superb. It is a great place to hang out with friends and loved ones. Granby Ranch is a family friendly resort, great for first time skiers, snow-boarders, golfers and mountain bikers, but with enough variety for the experts too. Winter Park Ski Resort, Mary Jane, Steamboat Springs and the Front Range Ski Resorts (e.g., Keystone and Breckenridge) are within driving distance for those who desire the big mountain experience.
