EXTRAORDINARY !!!!!!

Staying at Gorda Vista was the best part of an awesome vacation !!!!! It felt like a home away from home. The view was amazing to see , and the ocean roaring at night was the icing on the cake !!!! The garden is great ( though not at its full potential ) we enjoyed it . The pictures do nothing for the actual experience of this home. Neil was Greatttt , very helpful & knowledgable . This vacation was our first experience abroad and I can't imagine what's going to beat the experience . I am so happy that we chose this home instead if a hotel , we would not have had the same experience and freedom !!!!! It's impossible to enjoy beautiful scenic Costa Rica from a hotel ( my opinion ) . You'll also need a 4wd vehicle to stay at Gorda Vista and to travel in Costa Rica period . This house is true to its specifications unlike some of the other properties we considered that we happend to see on the way ( a lot of places were surrounded by dilapidated properties especially the condos ) . You will not be disappointed . Food cooks differently up in the mountains so beware ( we cooked 1x) . The monkeys and the birds sever a an alarm clock which added to the serenity . There was a family of Toucans and what seemed to be several families of white faces monkeys . This house is close enough , yet far enough away not too touristy . Perfect location !!!!! We plan to take our son back as his high school graduation gift . The tours are pricey but will not disappoint ( diamanté verde tours & Karl was the best ). P.S if you have a smart phone download a currency conversion calculator app , it was very useful . Don't forget to visit Manuel Antonio National Park & Quepos ( Mid World Zip line tour ) :)

Gorda Vista is Pura Vida!!

Let's just start by saying I was skeptical that such a beautiful property was so reasonably priced but Gorda Vista was all it was pictured to be. The view is actually better than pictured. The landscaping was flawless and the pool was to die for. It's extremely private, and you feel safe and right at home unlike staying in an expensive boxed in hotel. The kitchen is well stocked and ready for any needs you may have. We saw white faced monkeys, Howlers, and plenty of Tucans in the surrounding forrest daily. There were four adults in my group and we were more than comfortable. Neil the manager is a delight and made our stay even better. Just be sure you have a 4x4 vehicle as the property is in the mountains. I also recommend the Atv tour with Diamante Verde, Carl is the coolest guy and the tour is worth more than the price of admission. PURA VIDA!!!

This house was amazing to say the least and the pictures do not do it justice. The privacy, infinity pool, gourmet kitchen, outdoor deck and grill, free internet, 360 deg views were just a few of my favorite things! The howler monkeys, birds ( toucans) frogs and more were daily visitors. Everything you needed was close by within 5 minutes of driving. ( 4 wheel drive a must for the short drive to the house-was an adventure in itself) Neil the house manager was VERY accomidating and helpful with tips of where to go and where not to/where to eat etc etc and always emailed me back in a timely manner. Words can't describe how great this vacation was and the surroundings. There were 4 of us (2 couples) which was a perfect amount of space! We hope to return in the furture. Loved loved this house and dominical!!

Thanks Doug and Janet for letting us stay in your Gorda Vista paradise. What an amazing place! I know we were the first family that stayed in your villa...so thanks. We absolutely loved it. The kids enjoyed all the incredible wild life that came to visit...monkeys, toads, geckos, frogs, tucans, and all kinds of tropical insects that were fascinating. We did the big circle starting in San Jose and going to Arenal, Monteverde, Jaco, and then staying at your villa for the week...what a great finish. Loved the pool, the outdoor bar (where I had my scotch at night and coffee in the morning...miss that!), the great kitchen for cooking our meals, the fantastic 50+" TV and 300+ library of movies, awesome working internet, nice outdoor grill....where to stop. Also appreciated your manager "Neil" and his great recommendations for fresh fish, groceries, pharmacy, tours, etc. Also nice having the two cell phones (although we had trouble working one of them).
We look forward to coming back again some day soon.

Wow Gorda Vista aka Fat View.You'll have it all-the sky,sea and jungle.The house is incredible with its hotel quality construction but it really feels like home.The kitchen is a dream for any foodie to cook in..Being able to open the walls to the outside area really felt like you're living one with nature. Big bonus no mosquitoes!The pool with the lounge chairs was a welcome relief as was the outdoor shower.If you are lucky you will wake to the "song of the jungle" the Howler Monkeys in the trees right besides the house.A walk down the road is like a nature preserve .You will see toucans,tree frogs,lizards,and Blue Morpho butterflies,etc.The garden path is a surprisingly good workout too.A waterfall swimming hole and Dominical Beach with its amenities is a short drive away. A 4x4 is definitely recommended.This place is a MUST STAY!! Thank you .We will be back.

Outstanding!

We spent seven wonderful nights at the villa and everything you have read from the previous reviews is true. We drove over from Puerto Viejo which was about an eight hour drive over the central mountains and needless to say, we were tired, hungry and ready to relax. Our arrival could not have been handled more smoothly, Lupe was just finishing preparing for our arrival and Neil made us feel at home and welcome. There is an excellent grocery store just down the road in Uvita and we had a wonderful dinner and also bought fresh shrimp to grill at La Macha. Definitely do NOT miss watching the stars from the pool, it's an amazing experience. We took the Dolphin/Whale watching tour and although we saw no whales, we had a great time with good snorkeling. If you're looking for tropical elegance in an outstanding setting, this is the place to be!! Ted and Joe - Evanston, IL

Awesome!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Gorda Vista.
The house is very clean and well equipped.
The outdoor living area was great for meals and relaxing out of the sun.
The pool and deck were well used.
The abundance of wildlife (toucans & monkeys) was a bonus.
The views are outstanding.

Better Than The Photos

Just returned from a week long stay at Gorda Vista, and I have to say it was awesome. Having rented vacation properties online before, and knowing that the properties aren't always as advertised, we were wondering how it would stack up to the pics that are posted. Wow! It is even better than we expected! The build quality on the house is outstanding and way above what you typically find in the area. Neil met us when we rolled into Dominical, and showed the property, explaining everything and answering all of our questions. The owners, Doug and Janet, came over the next day and brought us some coffee and visited for awhile. We had a troop of howler monkeys in the trees right next to the house, and there were white face monkeys nearby also, as well as toucans, parrots, iguanas and a Jesus lizard who spent his evenings at the top of one of the pillars by the pool. This house is definitely a premium find and we will be back. The Dominical/Uvita area is one of our favorite places for relaxation, but we also enjoy the numerous waterfalls (really nice one just down the road from the house) and beaches. Playa Ventanas is not to be missed. Osa Mountain Zipline was great, if you are adventurous. We bought fresh fish and shrimp from La Macha, which is very near the house, and grilled fresh veggies that we bought at the farmers market in San Isidro. You have to experience Tortilla Flats, get some wings and watch the sunset at Jolly Rogers, and check out Citrus (excellent dining in Ojachal). So much to do in the area if you are into getting out and exploring, but at the end of the day a cold Imperial, the Gorda Vista pool, and a nice sunset are pretty hard to beat.

Gorda Vista is an unusual combination of a luxurious, well planned, brand new property with breath taking views and a very professional manager living close by and always ready to help the newcomer. The house, pinned in the jungle slopes faces the Pacific from most of its windows as does its ample infinity pool. Wildlife traffic can be observed daily at the tree tops guarding the property on both sides.
Plenty of unspoiled volcanic beaches and adventure travel type activities are available close-by, but the tenant is always thankful to have well supplied Gorda Vista to return to when the sun bites too much. Also near one finds good fresh fish restaurants and reasonably supplied supermarkets. The road up to the house, requires a well kept all terrain vehicle. The description and photos are accurate. The house is clean and kept and I recommend this property.

My wife and I spent 5 wonderful but short-lived days at Gorda Vista and could not have had a more enjoyable experience. The house had the perfect design for the area as it opens up to the wonderful surroundings. The secluded settings were perfect for relaxing and privacy and enticed us to remain on the property as much as possible. We were not wanting for amenities and the owners were friendly and open about their experienced in CR. If you are looking for a house that welcomes you and enhances your Costa Rican experience, look no further.
