If you love Bermuda for the adventure and prefer a quieter home base, this is the place. Donna met us at the door, toting a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit, gave us a tour of our private grill and outdoor patio with an ocean view, as well as their secluded pool available for our use, and--of course--the studio. She had pre-purchased bus passes for our use (I recommend!) and then it was like we owned the place: no pestering hotel attendants or bumbling tourists to disturb the sounds of wind and waves. The grocery store is an easy trip, The Reefs resort across the way has a couple restaurants, beaches are within a few minutes walk or short bus ride, and the famous Henry VIII's is about a mile and a half up the road (two bus stops away). I'd go on and on but I think you get the idea that this place is fantastic and, as the other reviewer said, I'd happily keep it a secret.

My husband and I had a wonderful 5 day stay with Donna and Chris. The studio was just as described in the photos and the location was spectacular. Donna was so helpful with the VRBO process and even picked up bus passes for us so we'd have them when we arrived. She also supplied tons of brochures about the island and was very knowledgable about restaurants and attractions nearby. We'd recommend this studio to any vacationer looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet place to call home while in Bermuda.

My husband and I stayed in Donna and Chris's studio for a week in February. They were the most welcoming and accommodating hosts. Donna drove us to the grocery when we arrived, a great help. And the fruit and bottle of wine were much appreciated. The studio was quiet, comfortable, clean and located very near our favorite beach, Church Bay. Our son joined us for the last three days of our visit, staying in the other apartment above ours, which both he and we thought was wonderful in that we were able to spend that much more time together. This was our third visit to Bermuda, a country we have come to love. Our son was also immediately struck by the warmth of not only our hosts, but of all the people we encountered. We will return and hope to have this great accommodation available again.

Traveling to Bermuda for the Bermuda Triangle Challenge: this studio was perfect! The ease of making meals before a race (or after), the proximity to the bus & the location make this an ideal rental for your next vacation! It's a quiet, clean property, beautifully furnished and the view is amazing. Chris & Donna are impeccable hosts - it felt like we stayed with friends - they offered to have bus passes & groceries ready for our arrival.

We traveled the entire island - took the bus to the Dockyard & also to St. George plus the ferry (recommend the ferry from Hamilton to Dockyard - faster than the bus) and had the best time exploring the island & meeting its residents. The picturesque beaches you see photos of everywhere are mostly along the south shore & within a mile or two (a cab driver told us you can walk from one beach to another). The north shore is more rocky (less to no sand to lounge on) but equally gorgeous.

Rock Sound comes highly recommended & I can't wait to stay here again.

I picked this vacation rental for our 15th wedding anniversary trip and first time to Bermuda. After reviewing many other options, Rocksound had superior amenities like proximity to Southshore beaches, full kitchen, washer/dryer, pool and high quality furnishings (huge, modern shower). Beyond a clean and comfortable rental, Chris and Donna are the most fabulous hosts you will ever find. Donna drove us to the grocery our first night, so we could stock up for a few meals during the week. Both were so useful with answering questions and anything else we needed. Small things like having beach towels to use and not needing to buy any paper products were so helpful. Plus, the bottle of wine and fruit on arrival was a nice touch!

I highly recommend Chris and Donna's rental and hope to return again to lovely Bermuda. Since it was low season, the island and beaches were so quiet and relaxing, a perfect getaway. The amazing moderate temperatures from morning to night, make it ideal for spending all day outdoors. We sunbathed by the beaches (recommend Horseshoe Bay and Jobson's Cove) and even swam once, but will probably come earlier next time so we can snorkel. We rented a scooter to explore the island, with all the breathtaking scenery and local British/island culture. Since everyone spoke English and US currency is used, it is so easy to get around. Plus, the food and restaurant quality is top notch, just beware it is quite expensive. The tap water in Bermuda is clean to drink, and you feel completely safe on the island, unlike other Caribbean destinations.

Just a side note that our Verizon cell coverage didn't work there, but Chris and Donna have wifi access on the back porch, so emails were a breeze.

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and cannot say enough good things about this vacation rental and Bermuda. We cannot wait to go back!

We have just spent 6 nights at this wonderful apartment and though we would love to keep it a secret, that really wouldn't be fair!

It was our first visit to Bermuda and we decided to split our stay between two properties. Having spent 4 nights on the north east coast and having visited the caves, the aquarium and St George's whilst there, we had hoped to spend the majority of the rest of the time on the south shore beaches relaxing and snorkelling. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas! Nevertheless, we had an excellent holiday.

The apartment was beautifully furnished and wonderfully comfortable and the owners extremely welcoming and helpful. We had already bought monthly bus/ferry tickets and with the bus stop at the end of the driveway, getting around was no problem at all. We went into Hamilton and, as the sea was too rough for snorkelling on the south shore, on to Spanish Point from there where it was wonderfully calm. Another day we went in the opposite direction to Somerset Bridge and then walked the railway trail to Fort Scaur which was very interesting and from where there were wonderful views. On from there to the Dockyard where we ate at the Freeport Fish Restaurant. After that, with a tropical storm nearing the island and the rain pouring down we had a quick look around the shops before returning to our little sanctuary at Rock Sound.

With a full kitchen in the property (and a gas bbq outside), cooking was not a problem and with the private outside seating area we could quite happily have eaten all our meals there. We felt though that we should sample some of the local restaurants and had Sunday brunch at The Reefs which was enjoyable (though would have been better had it not been raining) and an evening meal at Henry VIII on our last night which was excellent. (Had the fish chowder followed by the Chateaubriand steak and both were great.)

The pool at the property is lovely and it was ideal to have the use of it. We spent one very restful afternoon lazing there. The day we had to leave, the seas finally became calm enough (just) to enable us to snorkel at Church Bay and we got an idea of how amazing it must be when the water is really clear. As it was, we found ourselves swimming with huge Midnight Parrotfish. Quite spectacular!

If you're looking for a very comfortable apartment with beaches and easy transport links close at hand, this place would be hard to beat. We loved it!

My wife and I spent 4 nights in this nicely renovated apartment. The hosts were wonderful and accomodating. The unit was clean and nicely decorated, perfect for a couple. The pool was nice to relax in after a day at the beach or exploring. The location was perfect for us with a nice view and nestled atop a hill on the south shore. We felt safe and welcome the whole time. Plenty of privacy but nice to know your hosts are a few steps away if you need something, advice, etc. While Church Bay is walking distance, we rented a scooter (rentals at the bottom of the street) and visited/snorkeled most beaches on the south shore. We cooked in a few nights and ventured out as well. We are the type to pack lunches and a cooler and head out for the day so this was a great quiet home base to come back to. Not much to walk to(other than the Reefs accross the street) but the bus stop is at the bottom of the driveway and scooters are easy to get around on. I would definitely recommend this location as it had all we needed and more! Great spot! Thanks to our wonderful hosts!
