Great Honeymoon Cabin

This cabin is absolutely fantastic. I still can't believe how little we paid! I highly recommend this to location to all couples looking for a relaxing and romantic escape.

The location is ideal for anyone looking to stay away from the action. You are located near enough to more tourist-y cities like Kapaa and Princeville for activities and dinner to be a VERY short drive away, but far enough to not feel overwhelmed by the rush of people. Anahola itself is a small community and the cabin is located on a decent-sized farm with a total of 3 houses (this cabin, a 1 bedroom cottage, and the owner's house) which are spaced far apart.

We explored all over the island during our stay (we reached the end of the road on both sides of the highway). This cabin was the perfect launching point for those adventures.

As honeymooners, we were looking for privacy during our stay and we got it. Our only real interactions were with the adorable dog who lives on the property.

The pictures do not do the cabin justice. It feels much bigger than it looks. The ideal size for 2 people. The kitchen is well stocked, should you choose to cook some meals in (as we did to save money). Eating meals on the patio is incredible. You have one of the best views on the island of sunsets over King Kong mountain.

The farm is full of fruit trees. The owners make fantastic soap and the best anti-itch balm I have ever used from the coconuts they grow.

The cabin is stocked with all the beach-going equipment you could need: snorkels, beach mats, beach towels, beach chairs, and a body board. There is a washing machine and clothes lines (with the strong winds on the island, clothes dry quick). There is a nice TV and DVD player. We rented several DVDs from the RedBox-es, which are plentifully located across the island.

Like everywhere on the island, there were lots of bugs outside, especially after dark. Make sure to keep the doors closed as much as possible to keep them out of the cabin. We made that mistake on the first day, but no issues on later days. We had occasional night time visits from a couple small lizards crawling on the wall. The cabin does not have air conditioning, but, with the well-positioned windows, we never found ourselves wanting any.

Overall, a truly great find. We look forward to returning again!

A huge "Mahalo" to you for sharing your beautiful farm with us. We have been visiting Kauai for over 15 years and never stayed in Anahola. We finally heard our "kahea" and will surely be back! This is a magical place & to be blessed by Kalalea every day is truly amazing.

And then there's Sissy! They don't get much sweeter than her. We will miss her visits.

The cabin is perfect and the shower is "Deluxe"!!!

Mahalo for all, we will be back!

Charming cabin

This is a wonderfully charming little cabin. Feels very Hawai'an
The setting is beautiful and the privacy is exquisite. Great porch
with easy chairs - just to sit, read, look at the mountains, the birds,
coconut and plumaria trees. Not quite as close a walk to the beach
as we expected, but certainly doable.
The only downside is that although one can't see the Kuhio highway, it's
close through the trees, and one can really hear it. This bothered
me, but not my husband - so it's a personal preference.
The spot is central to exploring north or south. Would stay again
and recommend to others. Owner makes her own soap and healing
cream - nice touch in the bathroom. This place is very small, really
only for 2 people.

Memorable Experience

Staying at the cabin is one of those memorable experiences that will last for a lifetime. If you want the "real" feeling of being in Kauai, this is the cabin for you. It is a perfect place for one or two people that enjoy the outdoors. As you sit in the open-air living area you look up to see a beautiful mountain, while we were there we were treated to a double rainbow over the mountain after coming back from a sunrise at the beach! The cabin is well maintained, everything looked freshly painted, it has an excellent bed to sleep on, it was stocked with all the extras you might need ( plastic wrap, foil, cloth napkins, pots and pans, beach towels and chairs, etc.). The outdoor shower is amazing! Diana and Don are great hosts and their dog Sissy was a bonus to have greeting us each day. We would definately recommend this cabin to our friends or anyone who wants something more than a condo experience. We hope to return for another romantic stay.

Fabulous, unique place to stay

My husband and I had another reserved place fall through and so we found Mahinani's retreat on vrbo somewhat at the last minute, and thank goodness-- what an incredibly charming, cozy and comfortable oasis this cabin was, in the middle of a stunningly beautiful location. It ended up being much more to our taste than the place we'd initially planned. We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time.

This is not a commercial resort setting- rather a private cabin tucked on a gorgeous farm away from the more bustling parts of the island (though only about 10 minutes by car from restaurants, shops and groceries in Kapaa so still an accessible location). The inside of the cabin was tasteful, bright and clean and the bed was super comfy. LOVED the piping hot private outdoor shower (from which I enjoyed rainbows over the mountains every morning, not kidding). It ended up raining several days during our stay so we spent a lot of time cooking, reading and watching movies inside and were totally comfortable.

Also got out for walks to the nearby beach, about 15 minutes by foot on a small road (not a busy highway).

Diana was extremely professional and made the registration and deposit return very easy. She was welcoming and responded promptly to our needs during our stay but was not at all intrusive and the cabin felt nicely private.

If we have the good fortune of coming back to Kauai sometime, we would absolutely stay here again. If you're looking for something comfortable, unique and slightly off the beaten path, you can't do better.

A True Hawaiian Experience and Restful Retreat

After spending 3 nights in the 1 bedroom cottage on the wonderful Mahinani's Farm - we moved to the peaceful, quaint, artsy, and serene cabin for the remainder of our vacation. We were initially disappointed that the 1 bedroom cottage was not available for the full 2 weeks - but after 1 day in the cabin we were thankful for the opportunity to stay in such a comfortable and restful place. It ended up being just perfect for the 2 of us! The cabin includes a nice bedroom - with desk, bookcases side tables -- and all the room that 2 people need - very romantic! No cable or WiFi -- which was a blessing and not needed with the great 3G on the island. The bedroom does have a small flat screen TV for movies, with an assortment of CD's available. The bathroom was larger than expected - with adequate shelves and hanging space for 2 people. The outdoor shower was GREAT. A true island experience. The small kitchen - is located off the covered front porch and includes all the amenities you need. We so enjoyed the covered front porch (the only "living area") . . . morning coffee with views of mountains, sounds of the sea, and visit from Sissy, the farm dog. We spent hours on the covered porch reading -- listening to music -- and enjoying a cold local beer or glass of wine. We never felt cramped . . . it was peaceful, comfortable, and relaxing. It was all we were looking for and much, much, more!. We highly recommend for singles or couples looking for an authentic Kauai experience - away from the traffic and developments. We picked limes, avocados, and coconuts on the Farm - and bought local produce at Farmers markets and fish for the BBQ. We tended to "eat in" -- and just enjoy the privacy and serenity of the place. The owners, Don and Diana live on the farm and were wonderful hosts - always helpful, thoughtful, and engaging - willing to share their farm and local culture with their guests. The setting is spectacular - with beautiful native landscaping. The cabin can also be used as "over flow" for families staying in the 1 bedroom cottage. The farm is conveniently located for travel to the north or south shore with ease. The Anahola General Store is just minutes away and is surprisingly well stocked. The beach is a pleasant walk -- or nice drive - - no crowds. Overall, our stay was perfect -the most relaxing vacation we have ever had . . . peace and quiet, spectacular setting, wonderful accommodations, and outstanding hosts! Thank you.

Thank You Dianna for opening your Farm to us Tourist :)
I highly recommend this property to anyone who prefers having a local experience vs staying in a Hotel.
The property is beautiful and very peaceful with mountain views from the front porch, a great place to savor your morning coffee.
The weather was absolutely perfect which made the private outdoor shower feel amazing!
The Farm feels secluded from town but yet its only a few miles to anywhere you want to visit.
I will definately stay here again!

Honeymoon in paradise

This beautiful little cabin was exactly what we were looking for on our honeymoon, a romantic getaway for two! The property was at a great location and we could easily travel to different parts of the island everyday. Our mornings involved drinking coffee on the front porch enjoying the gorgeous view. There was a beach within walking distance, but we often drove a short distance to try out different beaches. The best part of the cabin was the outdoor shower! The cabin was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the supplies that we would need.

The property owner Diana was extremely helpful and generous. I hope we get a chance in the future to visit the property again!

If you stay there, you must try the pork at the Anahola farmers market on the weekend... oh my goodness! It was delicious!
