Fab time in Amsterdam

We had a great few days on the Prinsenboat. Stayed with my husband and three young children - bit of a squeeze but a great place to stay in terms of location and uniqueness factor! The boat was lovely and warm (one of our main concerns considering a February visit!) and was well equipped. We got there easily on public transport - walked back to Central Station at the end of our stay where we saw the less 'family side' of Amsterdam! Would really recommend a trip to Amsterdam with children and would have no hesitation recommending a stay on this house boat.
Owner's Response: Good to hear you had a good time with the children.
Thanks for the review and hope to see you back!

Best regards, Peter

We stayed on the Prinsenboat for 5 days and enjoyed every minute. It's in a great location, close to stores, pubs, parks and museums. As it has a stove, fridge and microwave, we were able to cook every day. And with the local markets, we had great produce and ingredients. Its very charming and extremely clean. Peter was helpful and provided a lot of information. We would definitely recommend the Prinsenboat for a wonderful, unique getaway.
Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice review. Hope to see you again!

We had a fabulous time on the boat. The children loved the experience of being on the boat, waving to other boats and feeding the ducks out of the window. The boat was quiet at night and everyone slept very well. Peter was very welcoming and was flexible about check out time as no other guests were booked in- this really helped us. The facilities on the boat are great and we really appreciated the wonderful hot shower. A wonderful relaxing time- great location, restaurants and bars and walking distance to the park. Perfect for a family with young children. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Place to Stay in Amsterdam!

My long distance boyfriend and I were meeting up in Amsterdam, and we wanted to stay somewhere unique. The boat itself was amazing...Good location, close enough to everything but still not a terribly busy street. The bed was fantastic, the kitchen was nice, it had everything you would need for a nice, relaxing stay. The owner was very nice and super helpful...he was flexible in meeting me, which was nice because I flew in very early and flew out fairly late. Usually hotels, you have certain check in/check out periods and if you are there before or after, you have to wait. He was also helpful with finding thing in Amsterdam...I needed to buy certain foods to make my boyfriend a special dinner and he helped me locate the nearest grocery store and provided the dutch word for the food I wanted.

All in all, this was an outstanding, unique place to stay in Amsterdam! I will definitely stay here again!

The magic holidays in a houseboat

4 of 5
Submitted: September 3, 2011 Stayed: August 2011
This summer my husband and I wanted to do something different and that is why we wanted to stay in a houseboat, so typical from Amsterdam. The houseboat has an excellent situation in one of the most famous canals of the city, even the Major of Amsterdam lives in Prinsengracht. It is comfortable with all the facilities and can accommodate four people without any problem. The sofa-bed is just for an only person. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. My children loved feeding the ducks from the window and lookint at the boat passing by, it is really something different. If you are going to stay for a long time there is a supermarket and a laundry at a stone ´s throw. Beware that foreigners can´t pay with any kind of credit cards in supermarkets, always cash. The best way to sightsee Amsterdam is to rent a bike, as trams are expensive. If you want to visit some other cities then to rent a car is the best option. "Sixt car rental" has got good prices and there is an office in Central Station and Schipol airport respectively (in Amsterdam).
If you go to Amsterdam you can miss the following places: Vang Gogh and Riks museum, Anne Frank House, the Heinneken place, the Jordan neighborhood, the flower market, Volendam park, the ice bar, and of course, if traveling with children "Efteling Park" (the largest and oldest theme park in Holland) in Kaatsheuvel and not very far from Amsterdam by car.
It is really worthwhile visiting Amsterdam but don´t forget your umbrella and raincoat.
Thanks

My girlfriend and I recently enjoyed a delightful four night stay on Prinsenboat. The houseboat is very comfortable and perfectly located in a pretty neighbourhood with fantastic restaurants and cafes. The owner, Peter, was very generous with his time and very easy to deal with. I thoroughly recommend staying here.

My wife and I had the best time staying on Prinsenboat. We had planned to stay a couple nights but emailed Peter to see if we could say another. He was great and went above and beyond in accommodating us, even giving us a gift for our oldest child. The boat has all of your modern conveniences but has a rustic folky Moroccan theme. The large windows open up beautifully to accommodate duck feedings and peaceful breezes. After much walking about Amsterdam it is easy to say that this is the best neighborhood for quaint living. Perfect restaurants, pastry shops (Kuyt) cheese shop right on Utrect. I cant wait to come back. I also rent a home on VRBO and only wish my guests can have this kind of experience.

Wonderful experience

We have never written a review, but, our experience was so positive, we felt we must. If you are considering a trip to Amsterdam and would like to hang your hat in accommodations other than a predictable hotel, do stay on Prinsenboat. Its was a divine experience. The houseboat was very clean, well equipped, perfectly located, and we simply loved it! Our stay fell over the "Queens Day" celebration, which was big fun. The houseboat has an ideal, safe location, we walked everywhere. Prinsenboat was everything we had hoped and the owner Paul is extremely attentive and professional.

Canal Life

Submitted: April 23, 2011 Stayed: April 2011
Brilliant location, both the boat and surrounding area. The perfect place to explore Amsterdam and experience the canal boat life. The boat accommodated 4 people (2 adults, 1 x 16yr old and 1 x 13yr old) adequately. We ate in on some nights and found everything we needed. The bed in bedroom was huge and the sofa bed in lounge was comfortable enough for 2 adults. We met Peter half way through our stay and after doing so felt nothing would be too much trouble. The accommodation was as described and expected but in our opinion to be rated excellent it would need some updating as some of the decor was a little tired. This however will not put us off visiting again. It would make a great romantic getaway for 2 people. We totally recommend the Prisenboat for your stay in Amsterdam.
