Coming home again after 12 years
Twelve years ago my wife and I spent our honey moon in this lovely one bedroom sea side cottage, it was great to get back here after so long; it was like coming home. The amenities are a bit spartan: kitchen (recently refinished) has full size fridge, a range, microwave and toaster oven (no oven), but with all of the great restaurants within walking distance in Grand Case you don't need much more. Bedroom still has 2 twin beds which we pushed together, though for a couple trying cuddle across the beds it can be a bit of a challenge. Bathroom contains a shower, commode, and vanity. The best feature of the house is the covered front porch where you can sit in lounge chairs and relax while watching the sail boats out on Grand Case Bay.
The house sits on the water at then end of a little pedestrian alley in the residential section of Grand Case. You can get a real neighborhood feel, the property behind this one is occupied year round by local residents, and the one accross they alley is the long time winter abode of a nice snow bird couple from NY. The friendly neighbors where a boon when we did lose water for a day due to maintenance by the city, but the loan of a bucket and an outside shower got use through until service was restored.
Though the house sits on the water, the beach immediately in front of it is seasonal so it may be there or not, but there is ample room in the white sand front yard to put down a towle between the Palm trees and soak up some rays after a refreshing morning swim.
All of the features of Grand Case are within walking distance. I would recommend though renting a car to see the rest of the island while in St. Martin. Parking is catch as catch can on the main street but we never ended up parking vary far from the house during our 12 days there.
Over all a great retreat for a couple or small family, and at about a fifth of the cost of the local hotels a night, losing water for the day and having to sleep across twin beds were not big issues.
