Step back in time in this charming cottage dating from the 1800's, nestled into a stunning Burgundian valley in rural calm.
10km from the market town of Montbard and 15km from the picturesque, medieval town of Semur en Auxois.
The house has everything you could possibly need on holiday; a fully equipped kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, both with quality bedding and mattresses, bathroom with large shower, and a seperate toilet. Spacious, comfortable sitting room with television, dvds, and a good stereo system with a great selection of cd's. A diverse collection of books, games and wifi available throughout the cottage. A big open log fire and central heating for those cold winter nights. Romantic, very cosy and warm in winter months and cool on hot summer days. It is a home from home, you will feel relaxed from the moment you arrive!
It has a secluded, beautiful walled garden at the rear of the cottage, with terrace and BBQ.
From the moment I entered this house with its medieval features I fell in love. It was like stepping back in time. A house that wraps its arms around you, a stillness and calm I have rarely felt before. A traditional Burgundian house with the steps leading up to it and underneath, the most important, a big cellar for wine! Walls half a metre thick in places, giving a natural cool in the summer and warmth in the winter.
Having spent a lot of time in the area working I realised I wanted a home here, in rural calm, where you feel away from everything but with a fantastic TGV connection 10 mins away which means I can be leaving the cottage at breakfast and arriviing in London for lunch! Paris is an hour away and Dijon 40 mins on a train. A perfect situation. Right on my doorstep so many wonderful sights, you can spend a week here without going far visiting many differant abbeys, chateaus and beautiful medieval villages. Close proximity to the world renowned wine route of Burgundy starting from Dijon all the way down to Macon, immerse yourself into the sights, sounds and smells of the fresh food markets around every corner. Steeped in history, rich in culture, there was no question, this was where I wanted to be!
