Wonderfull Pioneer Trip
I could not be happier with my trip to Golden and my stay in the Pioneer Cabin
My trip was everything I hoped for. I’m considering this Form & Forest design to build on my own land, so the opportunity to rent this property for a test drive and enjoy British Columbia was too much to resist. What a great decision to make the trip!
Ryan was extremely helpful prior to my arrival and provided directions and tips on local grocery stores and other necessities. As soon as I walked through the door I noticed he had left several maps and fliers about local attractions as well, which was both thoughtful and handy over the next few days.
The cabin is well constructed and well appointed. As advertised, eight people could stay in four beds (two beds are in the loft space, and two are in private bedrooms). I found the cabin to have a much larger “feel” than I anticipated due to the high ceiling of the main living area and the open floor plan. The design is fantastic, with views to the outside from almost everywhere.
My visit allowed me to see a number of nice design details that I would not have fully appreciated from just studying floor plans. The sliding doors at opposite ends of the ground floor allow a cross breeze through the kitchen and living area, which would be very nice in the summer. From the entry, you can see out the far side of the cabin, and the window at the top of the stairs adds light and space to the stairwell. Just a few of a dozen or so details you can only pick up in person, and all superbly executed in the Pioneer.
The Blaeberry River is only a few meters away, and the sound of water running over stones is constant whenever you are outside or have the doors open – fantastic. The kitchen has all the plates and silverware and tools you need for a stay of several days, and the grill works perfectly.
Aside from the cabin, I enjoyed seeing Thompson Falls just up the Blaeberry River (watch out, the bridge is out so you have to go around the less improved side) and up to Mt. 7.
The cabin is not especially close to town or the ski area. If you want to get away from it all that’s not an issue, but if you’re looking for a place in Golden for some event this might not be right. The bathrooms are adequate but the only part of the cabin that aren’t spacious – just the requirements is all.
As for a recommendation, after staying in the cabin I’m both very likely to buy the plans for myself and likely to return for another visit.
