We have stayed in private homes on the Big Island rented through VRBO on 4 prior vacations. Usually we stay beachfront, but we booked last minute for the holidays and were relieved to find this home in Wiamea. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us and was very clean. We cooked breakfast and most dinners in the well-equipped kitchen. We loved being 20-30 minutes from the Kohala beaches, yet having easier access to Hilo and Kiluaea. Wiamea is about 10 degrees cooler than the beach, and located in the lovely green Kohala mountainside. It was beautiful! We requested to stay an extra day, and that was no problem at all. Highly recommended!
