Whittier lies deep in the natural beauty of North Carolina. It lies on the border of the Nantahala National Forest and just South of the Great Smoky Mountains National Forest. Instead of a front desk and bellhops, you'll have a cabin all to yourself. You'll be able to fully enjoy and appreciate the wonders that nature has to offer you in perfect solitude. Return to Nature.
From Hidden Hills cabin, you'll be able to see the forest, but you'll also be close to some of the best natural sights that North Carolina has to offer. You can take a ride north and just a short hike you can see the beautiful eighty foot Rainbow Falls. The Smoky Mountains holds numerous hiking and walking trails that just beg for you to explore.
We are retired, Dan from the United States Navy, and Mary from the Department of Justice. We're enjoying ourselves by occasional stays in our cabin, traveling the country in our 5th wheel camper, visiting family and friends and seeing the sights around the USA.
Dan and I bought the land on which to build this cabin in 2008. We began building about one year later. Over the next three years, we were there just about every free weekend and holiday to put together the dream of our vacation cabin in the mountains. We received our Certificate of Occupancy in April of 2012, almost exactly three years from the time we started to build. Needless to say, we were very proud of Hidden Hills Cabin. After the foundation was poured by professionals, along with an HVAC/plumbing company and a friend who is very experienced in construction work and a hard worker who came when we needed him, we did the rest of the work ourselves. It was an exciting goal, and we are very happy with how everything turned out. Whenever we look at it, we shake our heads in wonder.
Our favorite part of this cabin is its quiet and secluded location but still close to whatever we need or want to do. Beautiful colors during leaf season. Close to water activities, great restaurants, shopping, Smoky Mountain Railroad, Smoky Mountain National Park, Cherokee Casino, and many other attractions. Very relaxing to sit on the porch or lounge in the hot tub and look out over the mountain views, watch the sunrise and sunset. Hidden Hills Cabin is very spacious and has what you need to be comfortable. It's a great escape after a busy day of activities in the Smoky Mountains.
