Happy in Scotland

Submitted: January 14, 2013 Stayed: June 2012
We really enjoyed our stay at Lochaber lodges. We arrrived late at the lodge and Frank was there to greet us and show us around. He also picked us up a few necessities for breakfast. We had a wonderful stay. The weather was beautiful and we made a lot of use of the deck. The cabin was well maintained. We were a group of 6, 2 small children, parents, and grandparents. We fit easily into a cabin with 1 double and 2 twin rooms. The living area was spacious and very comfortable to visit after the children went to sleep. The separate rooms were great for blocking light. Walls were thin, It was difficult to allow people to sleep in the AM once some were awake.
Frank was very helpful with recommendations for groceries and a stop on the beach between Glenfinnian and Malaig.
Would highly recommend!

20th Wedding Aniversary Holiday

Submitted: January 14, 2013 Stayed: June 2012
We stayed at one of the lochaber lodges and had the most amazing time. Frank was absolutely brillian, very helpful, extremely friendly as was his beautiful little dog Suzy. We done so much in the area, went in the cable cars up Anach Mountain, bathed on Sands Amorra, Ben Nevis (my husband climbed), loch ness, steam train & so much more. We seen stags on the site right by the lodges almost every single night. The views were utterly breath taking, quite literally took our breaths away. We have been to many countries abroad but we feel truly blessed to have had this week in Scotland and to boot 30°C most of the week. My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and it just was magical. We are now in the process of booking for Xmas in 1 of the 3 bedroom lodges for a bit of extra luxury.
We would highly recommend this as the location is "perfect". Thank you Frank for a wonderful stay.

Perfect

Had a great week here in June. Unfortunately weather wasn't great but the cabin and sage advice from Frank, who is a mine of information, was. Location means it is easy to explore Morar, Mallaig, Aviemore etc. Gondola at Aonoch Mor is fun but unnerving and boat trip on Loch Linnhe is good value. Best though is Andy Race Fishmoners at Mallaig - scallops and mussells superb. Also worth a fiver is the Treasures of the Earth exhibition in nearby Corpach. Thanks again Frank. Superb

Submitted: January 14, 2013 Stayed: July 2012
Our lodge was fantastic - tasteful, spacious, pristine, & lots of thoughtful touches, from coffee & tea to butter dish with lid! Every morning from the decking, we waved to occasional boats on the Caledonian Canal, saw 2 shy young stags down from the mountain, & watched the drama on Ben Nevis to judge (correctly) the best day for our 19-year olds to climb it - & a lock keeper stopped our car to show us an otter at play. We could happily have spent all 10 days at the lodge, and Frank & Ellen were always interesting, helpful & great company, but in between the luxury & relaxation we went to Eilean Donan, Glen Shiel, Skye (Armadale, Dunvegan & Portree), Inverness, Culloden, Clava Cairns, Invergarry's Highland Games, Glencoe, Glen Etive, Glenfinnan, the excellent West Highland Museum in Fort William & Cameron/Commando Centre at Achnacarry, had a sensational meal at Inverlochy Castle, & so much else - "perfect location" is an understatement! All 3 generations, from my 75-year old mother to the teenagers, had a brilliant holiday & could not believe our luck in finding Lochaber Lodges.

Wonderfull family friendly place in an Idylic sett

Submitted: November 17, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
We had such a wonderful visit and stay at Lochaber Lodges. We were traveling to Scotland for the first time with our 8 and 6 year old daughters. The lodge itself was lovely, with all the amenities we could possibly need, and then some. The kitchen was well equipped, Wi Fi was free and readily available, and our kids loved the deer roaming the grounds, as well as the playground located just outside our door. Our hosts were incredibly helpful and kind. They were so generous, offering to come meet us when we got turned around trying to get to the Lodges, asking if we needed rides to nearby attractions, and providing excellent advice about what to do. We strongly recommend Lochaber Lodges to anyone, but especially to families looking for a comfortable, high-end accommodation in an absolutely gorgeous setting.

Absolutely perfect Stunning best location possible

Submitted: November 17, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
We were a family with 2 children aged 7 and 9 years old, in our first trip to Scotland, looking for RELAX in a nice accomodation, and this was, AS MY HUSBAD SET, exactly the lodge and holidays he was ever looking for. Absolutely CLEAN , COSY, ALL IN THE LODGE IS BRAND NEW, with large windows and light. THE LOCATION IS PERFECT TO VISIT AROUND WITH NO TO MUCH TIME DRIVING: we visit with the children, in no hurry at all, Glencoe, Neptune's Staircase and rent a canoe in the Caledonian Canal, Eilean Donan Castle, Five Sisters Mountains, Loch Ness, Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary, Invergarry, taking the ferry in Corran the area of Strontian, where we saw seals...
Very often, we saw DEERS from the windows early in the morning or after the sunset. GREAT IF YOU TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN!!!
THE BEST OF COURSE IS FRANK, WITH SO KIND AND FAMILIAR SUPPORT EVERY DAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FRANK FOR YOUR SMILE EVERY DAY.

Had an awesome Time

We were 4 adults traveling on vacation and used this a base for exploring the highlands and the islands. The location and views are stunning with the canal and mountains in front of you. The lodges were well equipped, well maintained. All the amenities you could want. Frank and Ellen, the managers were very, very hospitable, willing to help in any way, and always only a call a way. Their friendliness was a big part of our great experience. Would not hesitate to stay again

Excellent

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodges. The accommodation is wonderful with every modern convenience available in a country setting.

It is peaceful and picturesque while being only a few minutes drive from dozens of restaurants and all the sights of the area. Ideal for tourists.

The hosts have managed a perfect balance of being extremely helpful and friendly, without being invasive.

We would recommend Lochaber Lodges without hesitation to families and couples alike, for anyone looking for some peace and quiet in the country side or for those who enjoy the outdoors.

Stunning Location

Submitted: November 17, 2011 Stayed: October 2011
Excellent accommodation in a stunning setting. Very clean, warm and comfortable. The decking was excellent for dining, relaxing and watching the boats on the canal and the people on the canal tow path running, cycling and walking. Very peaceful but interesting too. Also ideal to sit outside and view the stars as there is very little light pollution. The rural scene was enhanced by "our" herd of cows on our side of the canal wandering up and down. Frank, the manager, was very friendly and helpful.

Excellent Lodges

Submitted: November 17, 2011 Stayed: October 2011
We travelled here as a family of 2 adults and 4 children (ages 6, 8, 11, 13). The views upon approach down the winding country roads were fantastic, on arrival at the lodges they were ideally situated on the banks of the canal with amazing views of Ben Nevis. We received a warm welcome from Frank and Malcom who were helpful throughout our trip. The accomodation was very spacious with everything you could possibly need i.e washer/dryer, Flat screen TVs, microwave, DVD library at the main reception. etc... All bedrooms provided an extremely comforatble and peaceful nights sleep. We were lucky enough to be able to sit out on the verander where a stag paid us a visit on a couple of occasions. The children made use of the play area but also made their own fun exploring the site itself.

Fort William was a short drive away with Morrisons, Tesco, Lidl and Farmfoods all to hand, with a host of pubs and restaurants to choose from. There is plenty to do hiking and walking, the West Highland steam train (of Harry Potter fame), Anoch Mor mountain gondola, Loch Ness and the awesome Glen Coe within easy driving distance to name but a few.

All in all a fantastic holiday in a truely idealic setting, highly recommeded
