Just got back from our stay and we can't wait to go back! The cabin is very clean and serviceable, but the most compelling reasons to stay are the long stretch of the beautiful San Marcos River and the large private space at the end of the lane. This is a much larger stretch of river and much larger outdoor space than you will get with most other rentals on the San Marcos. They keep it nicely trimmed up for nice views of the river, but not overly groomed. There's a good spot to walk into the river to swim or for launching a canoe or kayak. Disregard the prior commentors statement about snakes. I've fished dozens of Texas creeks and rivers and this is the least "snakey" one I've ever seen. We kayaked 2 miles upstream from the cabin twice and didn't see a single snake. There are plenty of turtles and other river life, but I would say snakes are not very common. Plus this is a river, not a swimming pool for goodness sake, so if you see an occasional snake take a picture as you would other wildlife and just give it some space and you'll be OK! I wouldn't hesitate to swim or paddle this part of the river and our 3 kids enjoyed the river immensely. Theres a dam just downstream, so the current is very mild for a couple of miles upstream and we had no problems paddling upstream. There are very few structures for several miles upstream, so it's very peaceful. Also, we saw absolutely no tubers the entire weekend, so it was great not wondering what our kids would hear or see (past experiences in San Marcos and New Braunfels). We paddled for 3 hours Saturday evening and only saw one canoe and two kayaks. Bottom line, I'd highly recommend this for couples wanting a place to relax in solitude, or for families who desire a family friendly atmosphere for school age kids who like swimming/water/outdoor activities. If you're looking for a place for your 2 year old to swim or if you have trouble climbing stairs, maybe this isn't the place for you, but we loved it and will likely be back next summer!

Overall, great experience! Beautiful location, peaceful, quaint house. Most things available to use within the house, although would suggest a toaster. Great area, with easy access to the river and many family activities. The only disappointment was that my kids were hoping to be able to swim in the river right near the house, but due to great possibility of snakes, they weren't able to. The part of the river where there is a less chance of snakes, is a quick drive with wonderful tubing availability. Would definitely bring my family back!! Linda is warm, friendly, helpful, and informative making the stay that much more pleasant!!

This place was great!!! Nice little house set on some beautiful acreage. The river was perfect for swimming. All 6 of us had a blast and I definitely plan on coming back.
