This Pike lakefront property, a former sawmill camp, was originally constructed in the 1930's. With 200 feet of shoreline, the property is now home to two cabins completely rebuilt on original close-to-the-lake locations and renovated to luxurious but comfortable accommodations styled in Western decor. The lovely cabin homes, just across the yard from each other, are each outfitted with a bedroom (two bedrooms in the main house), kitchen, bath, fireplace, and private lake-facing deck. On the property you will also discover the renovated boat house, now a screen house, located just four feet from the shoreline. Our favorite place for solitude. Wander the property some more and discover our lakeside slate fire pit. The property has been meticulously updated for modern living without compromising the Arrowhead heritage and the old country West.
We would love for you to bring your big family, friends, or relatives as our property offers opportunities for serenity, water activities, socializing, and privacy.
We do not rent out the cabins to seperate parties so if you rent with us, the property is exclusively yours.
Regardless of what season brings you here, the location is full of new experiences.
In the summer, our dock and our shallow water pebble beach are perfect for the kids to splash and swim. Lake Superior, picturesque waterfalls and parks, and hiking trailheads are minutes away from the property for the more adventuresome.
In the winter, our location gives you immediate access to the state snow machine trails and miles of cross-country ski trails including the Norpine Trail Association trail system (www.norpinetrails.org) with one of its parking lots/trailheads 2.5 miles from the cabin. It is 57km of cross country skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails. The trails wind through mature maple forests, mixed evergreens, and in the midst of North Country wildlife. A number of the trails have spectacular view of Lake Superior and connect up to the Cascade River State Park Trails. The trails are well marked and maps are available as a downloadable pdf file.
Close by, ski Lutsen Mountain (www.lutsen.com) with its wide-open, groomed cruisers and family-friendly activities. Lutsen offers a diverse variety of terrain spread over 4 mountains and boasts 1,000 skiable acres, 92 runs and 986' of vertical.
For those colorful Fall days, hiking and mountain biking trails abound for miles. For four seasons of the year don’t forget what we are internationally famous for ... fishing!
Your vacation may not be complete without a trip to Grand Marais, a short 15 minute drive up the scenic North Shore Highway. It is considered one of the most picturesque waterside towns in the country. There you can explore the enchanting namesake harbor, art galleries, fishing tackle, and variety stores, a marina, and local favorites like Sven and Ole’s Pizza and the Blue Water Café. For the bit more adventuresome foodie, visit My Sister’s Place (for their famous goober burgers) or Dockside Fish, Market both having aired on the Travel Channel’s acclaimed “Bizarre Foods” show hosted by Andrew Zimmern. Grand Marais holds festivities year round for locals and vacationers alike.
Or travel south fifteen minutes to the Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort complex where include great skiing, Gondola rides, golf and several super restaurants and bars like Moguls, Poplar River Pub, or Papa Charlie’s – (check the local listings link for live bands that play throughout the year.) For that special occasion where fine dining and water views are unmatched along the North Shore, visit the romantic and historic Lutsen Resort Dining Room located where the Poplar River spills into Lake Superior.
We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do, and we hope that your stay here will be filled with fond memories. Come back in different seasons to see this beautiful lakeside retreat in another light, and treat yourself to this fun and affordable refinement again and again!
We are sorry but we do not allow pets. Our wood floors, rugs and handcrafted furniture would not hold up well to pets and would be too costly to clean, repair or replace.
A family of four, a chocolate lab, fish, and a lizard. We love almost any activity that includes the outdoors and wilderness!
We have been property owners in the Arrowhead for over 40 years and love the area. This property was one we could not pass up and when it is not being enjoyed by our guests, our family and friends will be enjoying this lovely lake front property.
18 minutes from Grand Marais and Lutsen, our vacation home is a blend of Northern Minnesota lake front rustic and the great western high country. Comfortable amenities include comfy beds throughout, central heat in the large cabin and fully equiped kitchen and bath in both cabins. Our wood floors, walls and ceilings along with the open beam expanses and modern touches make our home feel like a truely unique vacation experience.
