Grand Marais Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Lake Front, 18 mins. from Grand Marais - 3 bdrms, 2 baths, 2 decks, 2 kitchen

Perfect for extended families and multi-family gatherings, this Pike Lake lakefront property, a former sawmill camp, was originally constructed in the 1930's. With 200 feet of shoreline, the property is now home to two cabins completely rebuilt on original close-to-the-lake locations and renovated to luxurious but comfortable accommodations styled in Western decor. The lovely cabin homes, just across the yard from each other, are each outfitted with a bedroom (two bedrooms in the main house), kitchen, bath, fireplace, and private lake-facing deck. On the property you will also discover the renovated boat house, now a screen house, located just four feet from the shoreline. Our favorite place for solitude. Wander the property some more and discover our lakeside slate fire pit. The property has been meticulously updated for modern living without compromising the Arrowhead heritage and the old country West.

We would love for you to bring your big family, friends, or relatives as our property offers opportunities for serenity, water activities, socializing, and privacy.

We do not rent out the cabins to seperate parties so if you rent with us, the property is exclusively yours.

Regardless of what season brings you here, the location is full of new experiences.

In the summer, our dock and our shallow water pebble beach are perfect for the kids to splash and swim. Lake Superior, picturesque waterfalls and parks, and hiking trailheads are minutes away from the property for the more adventuresome.

In the winter, our location gives you immediate access to the state snow machine trails and miles of cross-country ski trails including the Norpine Trail Association trail system (www.norpinetrails.org) with one of its parking lots/trailheads 2.5 miles from the cabin. It is 57km of cross country skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails. The trails wind through mature maple forests, mixed evergreens, and in the midst of North Country wildlife. A number of the trails have spectacular view of Lake Superior and connect up to the Cascade River State Park Trails. The trails are well marked and maps are available as a downloadable pdf file.

Close by, ski Lutsen Mountain (www.lutsen.com) with its wide-open, groomed cruisers and family-friendly activities. Lutsen offers a diverse variety of terrain spread over 4 mountains and boasts 1,000 skiable acres, 92 runs and 986' of vertical.

For those colorful Fall days, hiking and mountain biking trails abound for miles. For four seasons of the year don’t forget what we are internationally famous for ... fishing!

Your vacation may not be complete without a trip to Grand Marais, a short 15 minute drive up the scenic North Shore Highway. It is considered one of the most picturesque waterside towns in the country. There you can explore the enchanting namesake harbor, art galleries, fishing tackle, and variety stores, a marina, and local favorites like Sven and Ole’s Pizza and the Blue Water Café. For the bit more adventuresome foodie, visit My Sister’s Place (for their famous goober burgers) or Dockside Fish, Market both having aired on the Travel Channel’s acclaimed “Bizarre Foods” show hosted by Andrew Zimmern. Grand Marais holds festivities year round for locals and vacationers alike.

Or travel south fifteen minutes to the Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort complex where include great skiing, Gondola rides, golf and several super restaurants and bars like Moguls, Poplar River Pub, or Papa Charlie’s – (check the local listings link for live bands that play throughout the year.) For that special occasion where fine dining and water views are unmatched along the North Shore, visit the romantic and historic Lutsen Resort Dining Room located where the Poplar River spills into Lake Superior.

We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do, and we hope that your stay here will be filled with fond memories. Come back in different seasons to see this beautiful lakeside retreat in another light, and treat yourself to this fun and affordable refinement again and again!

We are sorry but we do not allow pets. Our wood floors, rugs and handcrafted furniture would not hold up well to pets and would be too costly to clean, repair or replace.

We have been property owners in the Arrowhead for over 40 years and love the area. This property was one we could not pass up and when it is not being enjoyed by our guests, our family and friends will be enjoying this lovely lake front property.

18 minutes from Grand Marais and Lutsen, our vacation home is a blend of Northern Minnesota lake front rustic and the great western high country. Comfortable amenities include comfy beds throughout, central heat in the large cabin and fully equiped kitchen and bath in both cabins. Our wood floors, walls and ceilings along with the open beam expanses and modern touches make our home feel like a truely unique vacation experience.

We had a fantastic time in your cabins. The cabins are cozy and warm, nicely decorated, welcoming and clean.

As for the landscaping, that was left to our imagination, as it was covered by a thick layer of snow, which was equally beautiful!

I am Kathy, Jim's wife and the recipient of a beautiful 65th birthday "treat" which was time together with our family (our 2 daughters, their husbands and our three very young grandchildren.) And this all took place at your beautiful home at Pike Lake. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely, beautifully rebuilt, lake home with us. The quality of the products used to refurbish your "cabins" was absolutely lavish feeling at times - and yet the adorable and quaint touches (loved the kitchen sink, windows, knotty pine with softly lit sconce-lights on the walls - and so much more!) - gave your home such a wonderfully warm and inviting feeling! We pictured our families coming back to share time together again at your home; that is if you continue to allow others to do so. We LOVED your home and the comfort and warmth it provided. We were also totally "blown away" with the awesome supply of towels, soaps, garbage bags, paper products - so much more than expected. Beautiful! Thank you!

Wow! Wow! and Wow! This place was absolutely stunning. The owners spared no expense with these cabins. They were very clean and beautifully decorated. Our group had five adults and four children and we all fit comfortably. We took advantage of the canoe and boat that were included and the children enjoyed playing in the crystal clear water and catching crawfish. We sat on the dock and looked at the beauty of God's creation all around us. He is so good! From the gorgeous lake to the mature trees to the sound of the loons. We renamed the livingroom in the main cabin "the library" due to the books provided. They have a wonderful selection of Louis L'Amour books which the guys spent a good portion of the time in the evening reading. They also have a game cabinet in case of rainy weather. We drove into Grand Marais on one of the days, but to be honest, there is no reason to leave this place. Our days went by much too quickly and we were all sad to leave. The owner, Bryan, was great to work with. He was easy to get in touch with and answered all questions we had. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of God's creation in total comfort.

Hi Bryan and Marguerite,
Just returned from a wonderful 3 days at 149 Pike Lake Road. What a lovely place. Cabins are really impressive and so comfortable and cozy.
We had a great time. Spent Wednesday on the Gunflint Trail and certainly enjoyed the scenery. Sat on the dock in the evening and watched the visiting loon. Thank you so much and great job with the renovations.
Loved the southwestern theme. Again thank you.

Although the pictures of the cabins looked very well-appointed and updated, we were delighted when we opened the doors and found these two cabins to be welcoming, nicely decorated, comfortable and with high-end features. Both cabins were virtually spotless and the beds were very comfortable. There was enough room for 3 couples and 2 toddlers in the two cabins. We all ate in the bigger cabin and on the deck. The fire pit was wonderful and every night we sat around it enjoying northern Minnesota. It was more than we had hoped for and nothing about it was disappointing.

Our family of 7 (5 teens) had a wonderful visit to Pike lake. The cabins were well stocked, clean, and inviting. We enjoyed the canoe rides and the large yard. The location is close to Grand Marais and many state parks. Great outdoor experience both at the cabin and in the surrounding areas. The pictures online show the true detail of the cabins. We would rent again and recommend to friends.

We loved this vacation. Our travelers include two young kids, two teens, four parents and a grandma. We all fit nicely into the two cabins and we could maintain everyone's preferred sleeping and waking. All of us enjoyed pulling crayfish from the dock area (tip: use a fishing pole and worms) and gathering in the big cabin for meals. Everything we needed was right there, and top of the line. The owner provides a crystal clear contract and a reasonable schedule of deposit and payment. Great experience. Book with confidence.

"Just got back from a weeks stay here. Absolutely wonderful!!! Pike Lake is so clear and the fish and crawfish were easy to catch and yummy! Loved the location and the cabins were fully stocked with utensils, shampoo and conditioner, crockpots, life jackets...so many things one would never remember to bring! The dirt roads leading to the cabins were lined with wildflowers and perfect for a nice walk or run with the family. Hope to go back next summer! We didn't want to leave!"

We took our 6 and 8 year old sons for a family trip here over the 4th of July. Nana came too and had the other cabin all to herself. It was just a perfect trip! Pike Lake is a wonderful place. Especially if you have small kids because the water is so clear and doesn't get really deep around the dock. We were able to let our kids enjoy without having to stress about the water (our older son has special needs and cannot swim). They were able to play on the dock and wade in the lake and truly enjoyed themselves! We caught so many crawfish (which we made for lunch one day...YUM! They hide in the rocks and will keep your kids busy for hours!) and we caught some great fish too. Plenty of room to run around outside and the cabin was stocked with everything...from life jackets to crockpots! I loved the decor and personally appreciated the attention to detail. From the Tommy Bahama bedding (heaven) to the Restoration Hardware vents, everything was top notch. Beautifully built and decorated. Great location and all around perfect place to relax with family. We didn't want to leave!

Family Getaway

I recently traveled to the cabins for a three night stay with my husband and 2 boys (ages 5&7) and my brother in law, sister in law and two nieces (ages 3&5). We had a wonderful vacation. The cabins were clean, cute, cozy and well equipped. The property is even better than the pictures. This was our first VRBO experience and I would definitely do it again, it was a very smooth and simple process. I have already recommended this property to others that I know would enjoy it as much as we did. The cabins were easy to find with the directions provided. It is about a 15 min drive into Grand Marais, and also 15 min the other direction to Lutsen....the perfect distance away from town. Our kids had a blast fishing off the dock, we also took many canoe rides, had bonfires and just relaxed. I was impressed with how well equipped the cabins were. I had brought extra blankets, pillows and lawn chairs but never needed to take them out of the car. We all felt as though we found a place we would love to return to year after year. Highly recommend!
