A wonderful place to chill for a week. Or more...
A lovely Villa, immaculately maintained, placed in an ideal spot within Siam Royal View.
I (English) stayed for on week with my Thai wife, 17 month old son, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and his 3.5 yr old daughter. I think I can speak for us all in saying that we absolutely loved it, and would love to return.
I can also personally attest that I felt - for us - it was a much better option than the 4* and 5* hotel we considered.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with, albeit briefly. Prompt, polite, very reasonable and efficient.
Similarly the owners local representatives did a great job, stocking the fridge for us exactly as per our order, before our arrival, at reasonable prices. They also provided no-nonsense, efficient, check-in and check-out procedures.
The villa really is as it appears on the photos. Internally it is immaculate. But more importantly (?) you can walk out of the lounge/kitchen, down the steps, across the well maintained lawn, onto the clean beach and into the lovely welcoming clear warm water. From my perspective it really doesn't any better than this.
The drop off in the sea is very gentle and ideal for small kids. We had two with us and they loved it. The adults loved it too - it's a slightly bizarre thing to be (maybe) 70m from shore and only chest height in water, but great to experience.
The onsite restaurant is also an asset. It doesn't seem to be very heavily frequented but does good food at reasonable prices in both European and Thai flavours. It won't necessarily be the most 'authentic' Thai food you will eat in Thailand, but most Europeans (myself included) will be happy with the 'International Thai' options. And I can attest that the pastas are more than adequate.
Downsides to this place ? : You should really hire a car to get out and about and see more of Koh Chang. On balance that applies if you stop in White Sands too though ?
Tip : It might not be for you, but my Thai relations went down to the landing next to ferry terminal (under 1km away) at 8 am on several occasions to buy fresh crab. I was fortunate to have expert Thai cooks with me, but after 46 years of 'not getting' crab, I now 'get it'.
Fresh crab, with a spicy Thai sauce and lots of Singha for lunch. Highly recommended.....
Do yourselves a favour and book this place...
