Beats staying in a motel

This house is in a good location and is certainly a reasonably priced alternative to a motel. However, we had hoped to enjoy a family Thanksgiving here and it did not suit that purpose. Half of the available rooms are really rooms associated with a health care practice and not intended as bedrooms. The kitchen was not equipped for either cooking or eating (we had to go out and buy disposable utensils), which was very disappointing. There was only enough sitting room for 4-5 people in the living room, so visiting with each other meant sitting on the floor (not easy for senior citizens!). It is important to note that there is neither a television nor a DVD player, which the listing says is available. So this year we missed watching the parades and football games and could not even gather to watch a movie together. The listing also states that laundry facilities are available. We did not need these, but we sure didn't see any if we had. Our deposit was very promptly sent back to us afterwards with no problem. Others have commented on the cleanliness of this house. Perhaps it was just an "off" time, but we did not find the house all that clean. Nonetheless, we had a very nice visit and would consider staying here again. I just would know better what to expect.
Owner's Response: I returned the deposit but did not know they were dissatisfied with their stay until today, because I did not receive any communication from them at all, despite several attempts on my part to reach out to them.
I would like to respond to all of their issues below:
1. I have utensils, forks, plates, bowls, and enough kitchenware for at least 10 people. They were all in the kitchen drawers and cabinets. If the guests had difficulty locating kitchenware, they could have emailed me or called me on my cell phone--my cell phone number is posted in every room.
2. I have enough pans and pots to cook a simple meal. Elaborate meals are not allowed--that is written in the guest agreement. Many of my other guests have cooked before and have not complained. Free coffee and green tea are provided.
3. The 3 rooms upstairs are fully devoted to our guests for a comfortable sleeping situation. 80% of the house is devoted to guests. This is a private house, so there are personal belongings in it, which we try our best to keep out of view. This is why we call it "Rent by Owner."
4. The living room can host more than 20 people. If there are not enough chairs, we have a bench by the fireplace that people can sit on. The dining room, adjacent to the living room, also has 6 extra chairs. There was more than enough space for people to sit.
5. In my guest agreement, I do not list that I have a TV. We offer free wireless internet, and our guests are always welcome to go on the internet to watch TV, the news, or play DVDs--the big screen computer is provided specifically for this purpose.
6. Laundry facilities are in the garage, which is downstairs. Just because they are not in the front of the house does not mean that we do not have laundry facilities--everyone's house is different.
7. I am surprised to hear that some places were not clean. If I knew about it, I would apologize and take care of it immediately. Cleanliness is a top priority for me, and I always clean my entire house thoroughly. I try to make the beds as comfortable as possible and I try to make the entire house as convenient, safe, and quiet as possible. These are, and always have been, my top priorities.
8. I reached out to my guests several times to ensure that they were enjoying their stay and to check up on any problems, but I got no response each time. I truly believe that these misunderstandings could have been prevented had we communicated with each other effectively.
Sincerely,
