The apartment has been created from the original 'palheiro' house. The views to the front are over the village rooftops of Arco da Calheta to the Atlantic Ocean. The views are breathtaking!. As the house is positioned almost exactly central in the Arc during the winter months the sunset is central to the property. There is a pool (10m x 5m) available to visitors to the apartment and is very private. The village of Arco da Calheta is 300m above sea level and about a 20 minute walk down to the yellow sand beaches of Calheta. As the walk back would take considerably longer there is very reasonably priced taxi transport available back to the apartment. A limited menu of evening meals are available as an additional service for visitors. There is dedicated parking at the property. It should be noted that this property is probably not suitable for wheelchair users. The house is built into the hillside on four tiered levels which is fairly standard for Madeiran homes.

When the new golf course is completed in Ponta do Pargo the apartment will be conveniently placed half way between the Palheiro and Ponta do Pargo courses.
More on island golfing ...: Arco da Calheta is about a 35 minute drive from the famous Palheiro Golf Club - Palheiro Golf Course
As you’re driving up the steep winding road leading to Palheiro Golf course, you may wonder whether you are going golfing or skiing and how on earth they were able to build a golf course up here! But Cabel Robinson, who designed it in 1993, has managed to integrate the 18-hole par 72 course perfectly into the dramatic setting.
Perched 500 meters above Funchal, Madeira’s capital, in the 200-year-old country estate and parkland of the Quinta do Palheiro, the course and Clubhouse's panoramic terrace enjoy stunning views over the Bay and the city of Funchal, and the Desertas Islands.
Fishing BIG and small Game: There is quite a culture of Game Fishing in Madeira and in recent past years have produced some of the worlds largest blue marlin, which is also reflected by the results of the annual July 4.th Blue Marlin World Cup. Madeira was World Cup winner in 1995, 1996, 1997 and narrowly missed the World Cup fish in 2000. The marlin season in Madeira runs from May through to October ,with a fish average of about 700 lbs. About one in every ten is that fish of a lifetime, a grander blue marlin. These huge creatures swim in its predominantly calm blue waters ,with the run to reach these leviathans being practically non - existent. Add to this a pleasant temperate climate in which to fish, and all of this set in a safe, civilised European environment you'll see why if there is a finer Atlantic blue marlin fishery we certainly don't know of it .
BUT if you prefer dangling a rod off the harbour in Paul do Mar and contemplating world peace that is available too!
