6 bedroom luxury house in the centre of Ireland beside Shannon & Lough Ree
Six bedroom modern dormer house on own grounds, sleeps up to 12 people. Garden runs down to riverbank. The house is located about 1 mile (1.6kM) from Athlone town. The spacious open-plan living / dining room / kitchen has a wood burning stove. The house also has a separate sitting room, one en-suite shower room and two family bathrooms. Outside is a large South-facing deck with outdoor dining facilities & barbecue. The large garden is bordered by a small wood. Entertainment is provided by indoor & outdoor games and satellite TV. There are numerous riverside fishing locations nearby. Boats are available for hire in Athlone town.

Three generations holiday in House on Coosan

We, our four children, their partners and assorted small children got together for a family holiday.
First of all the house was great, plenty of space and very good facilities, much needed for wet weather! We all spent most of out time outdoors sailing, swimming and fishing - all a short walk from the house. We were able to moor a sailing dingy near the house. For children the large lawn was a godsend- football, cricket were played daily. There is plenty to do in terms of visiting historic/archaelogical sites, we went to Clonmacnoise, to Birr Castle and various children's activity centres.
MIraculously, the skys cleared most evenings and we had a barbecue on the Australian Barbie and ate outside on the lage deck.
Everyone in the family thought the place was great!
The owner was very helpful and friendly -and they have great neighbours!

Wonderful spot!

We chose Athlone because it was fairly central to all of Ireland -- the house is wonderful - spacious, immaculately clean, and well equipped. We drove all over Ireland from there, returning each night to the house. We made good use of the outdoor grill and were very glad to have both internet availability and a washer and dryer. The owner was great -- gave us ideas about where to find everything from groceries to activities we'd enjoy. We loved the porch looking over the garden; the river is just a short walk away. We would recommend this house to anyone wanting a very comfortable 'home base' for a visit to Ireland.

My father is from Athlone so we took him over to meet all his family for his 80th birthday. There were 12 of us altogether so the house was lovely and perfect for us. There was plenty of room for us with two lounges and as it was beautiful weather we sat out on the decking for hours. We were able to invite my father's siblings over for lunch and there was more than enough room. The river Shannon was at the bottom of the garden which gave lovely views. I would recommend this house to anybody and hope to go back again in the future. Jim was very kind and let us rent the house from Thursday to Thursday which was brilliant as we did not have to have so much time off work.

Beautiful home, Great location.

Our family of 8 stayed at Jim Doran's home for 9 days - the house was perfect for us and we enjoyed the location of the town nearby. Athlone provides an excellent spot to see much of Ireland with the charm of a small city without the crowd. The train and motorway system workout grand. The home was immaculate and could easily rent for more. We could not have chosen more wisely. I would recomend this property to anyone.
