We are located in the middle section of Manasota Key, the most tranquil area of this barrier island. There are shallow waters with no undertow making it great for swimming and of course shelling. Hidden among the sand and shells are fossilized shark's teeth that are thousands of years old - great fun for the kids to find. This area is known for its excellent game fishing with tarpon-fishing tournaments in the summer.
This beautifully decorated home has 3 large bedrooms providing sleeping for at least 6 guests. Each room is provided with fresh linens and towels. The master bath was recently updated; the guest bath has a tub/shower combination. There is a half-bath on the main level. The kitchen was also recently updated with all new appliances and granite countertops. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, and cookware - even a blender for your pina colas.
A two-lane road runs the length of this barrier island with a bridge at either end, pristine beaches, 3 public beaches, and a State Park (Stump Pass Park) at the southern tip of the island. The public beach closest to our home is Blind Pass Beach that even has a nature trail for hiking.
There are plenty of activities in the area. Boating or fishing right in front of the house, or in Lemon Bay (a protected watershed), or even deep-sea fishing in the Gulf are possibilities. There are plenty of fishing guides to help you catch your limit. Rent a jet-ski, parasail, or kayak. Or you may enjoy a wildlife tour through the bay and creeks.
There are at least 15 public golf courses within a 15 mile radius of our home. There is local shopping - located on the Key is a convenience store, gift shops, 4 very nice restaurants; in the town of Englewood, just across the bridge, are at least 4 grocery stores, local boutiques, and all kinds of shops. The closest movie-theater is in Venice, about a 15 minute drive.
For a short day-trip to Sarasota you might want to visit Mote Aquarium, Selby Gardens, the mansion Ca d'Zan, or shop at the high-end stores. Tampa, just an hour & 1/2 drive, has professional sports games, plenty of museums, and Busch Gardens, to name just a few. The new Salvador Dali museum is in St Petersburg.
We know you'll come to love this little piece of Paradise!
