Fantastic Place to Stay!

Glitter Bay is a wonderful place to stay -- the perfect combination of having your own apartment/kitchen and hotel-like amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they were very nice to our young kids. The pools are nice to have (our kids loved them!), having the pool bar is convenient and fun, and the beach is gorgeous.
Palm Trees is perfect. It is clean, spacious, with very nice, modern furnishings, and the patio is lovely. We did a lot of cooking, and it had everything we needed. Eleanor comes almost every day and keeps it spotless and even did our laundry. We felt very spoiled and taken care of.
I would highly recommend this property -- you'll have a perfect stay!
Palm Trees is perfect. It is clean, spacious, with very nice, modern furnishings, and the patio is lovely. We did a lot of cooking, and it had everything we needed. Eleanor comes almost every day and keeps it spotless and even did our laundry. We felt very spoiled and taken care of.

My wife and our 2 children aged 14 and 12 have just returned from a 12 night stay at Glitter Bay. The place is spotless and Eleanor who comes in to clean is just fantastic. She made sure we returned home with suitcases full of clean washing.
Glitter bay is in a fantastic location and the beach and warm caribbean sea are truly amazing.The pool was never busy and really safe. The staff were always ready to help and Duncan always made sure everything ran smoothly. We hired a car but in truth we could of managed without but it does give you extra flexibility .Only took the yellow buses once but what an experience. The people from the island were always friendly and willing to help. We did the island safari and Good times catamaran trips which were both great. You can mix eating out with either cheap eats or more upmarket restaurants . Our favourites for cheap eats were Just Grillin and Ramshackle and for more upmarket places the Lone Star and The Beach House. All in all a truly memorable holiday. Go on ! treat yourselves you will not be disappointed . Thanks very much Kelvin x

Lovely stay at Palm Trees June 2012

My wife and I stayed at Palm Trees in June 2012.
Kelvin responded quickly to our initial enquiry and booking was easy. We have been to Barbados many times over 15 years and so we know the West Coast well, and so what we were looking for.
Glitter Bay has a stunning beach and is located next to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion hotel with The Lone Star restaurant a 10 minute beach walk away. There are 2 beach bars nearby, plus its own bar/cafe facility on site. At Lone Star you can snorkel from the beach and swim with the turtles.
You can walk, bus or taxi to Holetown with little problem – the frequent buses drop you right at the Supercenter supermarket for $2BDS each way. If the tide is low you can beachwalk to Holetown.
There is a management team and concierge on site who will respond to any issue that may arise or provide any help you need. The grounds of the resort are immaculately maintained with a nice sized pool and, for fitness fanatics a small gym and tennis courts.
Palm Trees is a well equipped and comfortable apartment and you can believe the description and pictures – what you see is what you get! The fittings and furnishings are top quality. The king size bed in the master bedroom is incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.
Eleanor kept the apartment clean and tidy and did so discretely – she also did any washing we left out and on our last day insisted we give her all our dirty clothes to clean before we left. Can’t fault that!
So all in all we had a great 2 weeks and would wholeheartedly recommend Glitter Bay and Palm Trees.

We had a fabulous holiday in Barbados and thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and very comfortable accommodation in Palm Trees at Glitter Bay. We were met by Mr Medley-Jones' very friendly agent who showed us around the spotlessly clean apartment with some basic provisions in the fridge. We happened to arrive on a Wednesday which, during our stay, was the evening for complimentary rum punch cocktails in the beach bar. A very good way to get into the spirit of the Caribbean! We were thoroughly spoilt by Eleanor who arrived every day except Sunday's to tidy up, clean, wash dishes, change the sheets and do our laundry! We have never before come back to the UK with suitcases of clean and ironed clothes! After an early game of tennis followed by a relaxed breakfast on the veranda, it was just a few yards to the beach with plenty of space, clear blue sea, complimentary beach towels, attentive staff and a reasonable selection of delicious lunch time snacks. Just something to think about is where to eat each evening, perhaps before departing, especially for the night of arrival as you are advised not to walk in the dark to the nearby restaurants as there is no pavement so you will need a taxi (which the concierge will arrange - but ask the price beforehand!). Many restaurants get booked up at the most popular times to eat, especially if you want a shore-side table. We found the Glitter Bay apartments and Barbados in general a very happy place where we had no security concerns at all. The negatives in the apartment were few and very minor, eg the dripping and loose tap in one bathroom - but that might be fixed before you go. One day we couldn't get the dishwasher to work, but then Eleanor sorted that somehow! The TVs looked very high tech but we didn't turn them on once - there were too many other relaxing and enjoyable things to do! There was excellent WiFi connection in the apartment for those who need it but not by the beach. You do need to get a taxi or hire a car to get to the supermarket for food provisions. You could take the bus but we didn't try that. While mosquitoes are controlled in the apartments by fogging etc this might not be the case in restaurants so some insect repellent spray on your ankles is a good idea before going out. Altogether this was one of the better holidays we have had and our teenage children thoroughly enjoyed it too! We have no hesitation in recommending Palm Trees 207 Glitter Bay as a great place to stay.

Relax in Luxury

This was the first visit to the Caribbean for my wife and I, and we are glad we chose Barbados, and even happier that we chose Palm Trees at Glitter Bay. We had just the relaxing time we hoped for and since there was just the two of us to enjoy this large apartment it was truly luxurious.
Palm trees is well furnished and well equipped, but for us it was the large spacious balcony that gives it a wow factor. Coming from the UK it was a real treat to sit outside in tropical warmth to read, enjoy drinks and eat. The maid service is a real bonus and she was reliable, helpful and friendly.
The Glitter Bay complex is relatively small, with very well maintained grounds and the staff and management were always helpful. There is a really nice beach, a good pool, quality tennis courts and Holetown is just a few minutes drive with shops and restuarants. We would recommend "The Tides" restaurant for a special occaision and we also had a good meal at "The Beach House".
The owner responded to our initial enquiry very promptly and answered all of our questions along the way.
We have already recommended Palm Trees to friends and would certainly chose it again if we decide to return to Barbados.

This was our 3rd visit to Barbados,having previously stayed at Crystal Cove and more recently Colony Club.We decided on the apartment route due to our teenage son joining us and the two spacious bedrooms were ideal.The apartment was well positioned on the complex....close enough to the beach and far enough from the main road.The apartment exceeded our expectations,it was well maintained very clean, and the furnishings were of a much higher standard than you would expect of a rental unit.The spacious balcony was private and ideal for drinks al fresco.The daily maid service was excellent and the maid was charming.The communal facilities were ideal and the beach at Glitter Bay is probably one of the best on Barbados.....more spacious and with plenty of walking space.We would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family.

Luxury on the beach

My wife and I and our two teenage children spent 10 fabulous days here in August. The apartment was spacious, clean, of a very high standard and well maintained. A huge balcony with sofas, chairs and dining table was fabulous for relaxing or eating out on. The kitchen was well equipped and the owners have thought of everything you might need (couldn't believe my luck, there was a blender for making rum cocktails!). The owner was efficient and pleasant to deal with in booking our stay, as were all the staff on the complex who looked after any requests.
Glitter Bay is a superb location on the West Coast not far from Holetown, ideal for restaurants and shops. You could just about get away with walking and buses if you wanted, although I suspect most would find a car more convenient. The apartment is set in immaculately-kept tropical gardens and only 50m from its own beautiful beach complete with sun loungers and parasols. The extent of the gardens meant that we were situated well away from the road and enjoyed relaxing tranquility. The pool was clean and all facilities were well-maintained. It was great having a bar with drinks and light lunches (all reasonably-priced) available on our doorstep.
For us it provided the facilities and services of a luxury hotel combined with the independence and privacy of a villa. We really couldn't fault it and would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Palm Trees far exceeded our expectations

This was our first visit to the Caribbean and, although we went with high expectations, our experience at Palm Trees beat those expectations by a country mile. Palm Trees is a superb, stylish property, equipped with everything you could want on vacation and it is perfectly situated overlooking the beautiful gardens and swimming pool of the Glitter Bay complex. A walk of about 50 metres takes you to the lovely, uncrowded beach that you can see in the photos. The housekeeper and property manager went out of their way to be as helpful to us as possible, which left us only to enjoy our stay. Holetown is a very charming place with great restaurants and shops and we had a lot of fun using the local bus services to travel in and out. My overriding impression of Barbados is that it is a place with all the laid-back characteristics that you might expect from the Caribbean, with people who are amazingly firendly and helpful. I can't wait to go again and I would be very happy to go back to Palm Trees and Glitter Bay. The highlight of the various activities that we enjoyed was an excursion on a catamaran up the west coast with a company called Cool Runnings, which included swimming with turtles, snorkelling over coral reefs among the tropical fish - and, of course, lots of nice food and drink. This was a great vacation and I would highly recommend it to anybody.

checkout fiasco

property needs a little attention to improving bathrooms (hot water tap not working in bathroom two, door on shower in bathroom one needs repairing also lights) Otherwise this property is in good condition. However very bad experiance over check out arragements, means I will not be returning to this proberty again.

The guests were second time renters at Palm Trees. At no time did they call our apartment manager to inform him of any issues, even though he left his phone number. So we did not have opportunity to address concerns during their stay.
We have had no other complaints regarding hot water; the water is always very hot. The review complains about a light bulb not working, and a loose handle on the shower door. These very minor issues would have been fixed if the guests had called to tell us.
The guest’s complaint is that they were given very little notice (same day) to vacate the apartment at 1200. I have since apologised twice to them for this. Our view of the checkout problem is as follows.
Our receipts show 1200 as the checkout time. As goodwill, at time of booking, I offered these guests a late checkout. Subsequently, I received a late booking with new guests arriving the same day as the current guests’ departure. I contacted our apartment manager 4 days before their departure, and asked him to inform them of the need to vacate by 1200. Our apartment manager was not able to contact the guests as they were out by 0900 each day when he called. He left his phone number but the guests did not call him. Hence the late notice of the need to vacate by 1200.
Our manager did ensure that the guests had help – at no cost - to move their luggage to, and use of another apartment to shower before leaving for the airport; this is not even mentioned in the guest review.
The guests make no reference in their review to any other aspect of their stay. No mention is made of the otherwise great service they received from us; nor of the excellent facilities and comforts within Palm Trees; nor of our lovely, helpful housekeeper; nor of the fantastic beach and beautiful grounds here; nor…. readers will draw their own conclusions from the review and my response to it.
The lesson I have learned from this first poor review of a stay at Palm Trees is to make clear the 1200 departure time to guests when they book. This is already 1 hour later than many apartments/ hotels. I will continue to try to offer late checkouts, but cannot guarantee them.

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY

We have just enjoyed a very memorable and happy 10 day break at the apartment. From our initial enquiry, through to our arrival at the apartment, everything was taken care of in a very professional and uncomplicated way. Special thanks to George and Eleanor for their kind assistance. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The apartment is tastefully furnished, clean and tidy and has the benefit of WiFi, which is excellent for Free Calls home using Skype.

We enjoyed the benefit of a car to sightsee the Island, however a car isn't necessary, as everything is close at hand. The adjoining beach is as good as it gets and is probably one of the quietest on the Island.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, The Lone Star probably takes top spot, excellent setting, fantastic food, superb ambience. If you are looking for another favourite, Flindt's in Holetown, is a must.
Everything about the apartment in first class and we hope to return in the near future."
