This unusual Loggerhead Cay Condominium has been totally renovated structurally and professionally decorated in 2004 to an open floor plan for more spacious living. This is a front corner unit so you can enjoy an expansive view from the lanai of beautiful white sand beach and the calm blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Our family has been visiting this wonderful sanctuary island for close to 20 years because of its unique charm and respect for nature. It doesn’t take long to realize that Sanibel Island is an eclectic village with a mellow attitude, boutique shopping and wonderful restaurants. It takes an even shorter period to get into the Sanibel “mindset”, there’s no reason to hurry or worry.

Early on we identified Loggerhead Cay as our favorite complex and unit 522 as one of the most desirable in the complex. We were thrilled when the unit we always dreamed about became available and snatched it up immediately.

We were drawn to this unit because it is located on the front corner of the building so it has a much more expansive view than other units. The lanai has two screened walls instead of the usual one wall. It is on the second floor which gives you wonderful privacy when relaxing on the lanai. It is only one short flight of steps up from the ground floor and the stairwell is located just a few steps from the front door of the unit making it handy when going back and forth from the beach (no walking down the long hallway dragging beach chairs and umbrellas here!). The stairs are also located at the corner where you exit for beach access so once you are at the foot of the stairway you are on your way to the beach! This side of the complex has a much shorter walk to the beach and to the pool. Both the beach and pool are easily viewed from the lanai and living room window (wonderful for keeping an eye on the kids). The parking space for the unit is located straight across from the elevator making it easy to unload and carry up groceries.

The Loggerhead Cay complex was built in the seventies before the building codes dictated that a structure had to sit back so many feet from the beach. So when we brag that we are closer to the beach than anyone else we aren’t pulling your leg. Our unit would not be able to be built today. So when other families are heaving and hauling their chairs and umbrellas down sidewalks and across bridges you are enjoying extra time on the beach!

We live in Kansas City, MO and have enjoyed Sanibel for 20 years. My wife's parents used to rent a condo on Ft. Myers Beach. During a trip in 1989, we visited Sanibel and fell in love with the warmth and peacefulness of the island. We were told that Loggerhead Cay was a wonderful place for families to stay. Until we purchased our unit, we stayed at many units in the complex to appreciate their location and how owners had updated their units. We believe the unit we bought embodies the very best of what we experienced as a renter. Our three daughters have grown up loving Sanibel. We hope they continue the tradition as they get older.

Sanibel is a environmentally-friendly, barrier island community. There never will be high-rise condos here. Because of limited development land, home values have appreciated, while neighboring areas have declined. We like the Loggerhead Cay complex because of quick access once you cross the Sanibel Causeway. Our unit is situated in Building #5 and its reserved parking place is directly across from the elevator. Because our unit is at the end of the building, we have a spectacular view from the lanai. When it's time to hit the beach, a stairway next to our unit allows you to be on the beach in less than 60 seconds. That's a perfect location for parents with kids and beach chairs in tow.

Beyond the incomparable view, another benefit to renting our unit is the quick access to the beach. One reason is our building is much closer to the beach than newer construction on Sanibel. When you compare pictures of our unit with others in Loggerhead Cay, you'll notice we opted for high-end Tommy Bahama/Key West type furnishings. There is no dated rattan furniture with floral prints like you see in other units. When you open the door, your first impression will be 'WOW'. That's how we feel every time we visit.

We spent Oct.8-15 at this really nice condo.wonderful views, great shelling, dolphins swimming close to beach! Everything was as advertised or better!! We will definitely stay again.

We have enjoyed staying in this condo for several weeks over the last two summers. The owners are delightful to work with each year. They are enthusiastic pet lovers, too! Beautiful views of the beach from inside and outside the condo replete with a large, lush courtyard and extensive amenities. Modern conveniences surrounded by tastefully appointed furnishings and super clean. We enjoy the close proximity to natural landscapes, coastal vistas and bike-friendly trails to explore. The Shell Museum and C.R.O.W. (wildlife rehabilitation) tours are exceptional experiences. Extraordinary restaurants, unique art galleries and a multitude of shopping areas abound throughout the island. Our favorite place to stay after vacationing on Sanibel and Captiva for 28 years...a magical place!
