St. Augustine House Rental Photos and Description
House, 3 Bedrooms with private baths (Sleeps 6)

'Vacation rentals offer more space at a lower price (than hotels)...'

- MONEY Magazine, May 2012, Best Deals on Travel

Our Victorian frame home was constructed in the 1880s, the first of many period homes that now populate the picturesque neighborhood, in an historic city recently named by Forbes Magazine among the nation's top 'prettiest towns.'

TVs with DVD are located in the first-floor living room and in the upstairs sitting room.

Upstairs, two bedrooms, each with king bed and private bath, can accommodate up four guests. On the first floor, a bedroom off the main parlor includes a private bath and a king bed that can become two twin beds. (Inquire about adding our Studio if you need to house more than six guests.)

The house is available for small weddings. Booking the house for a wedding is priced differently than vacation rentals. Please contact us for pricing and terms for wedding bookings.

Porches and gardens offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the breeze that wafts in from the ocean, often scented with the fragrance of the property's citrus blossoms, flowering jasmine or roses.

French doors in the dining room open to a lovely brick courtyard with a delicate fountain, a peaceful, private retreat for a morning cup of coffee or an evening meal al fresco.

The 2001 renovation of the house included restoring the amber glow of the old heart pine floors. The house is tastefully furnished in both period antiques and contemporary pieces, encouraging relaxed comfort just like home.

The galley style kitchen is clean, compact and efficient, with granite countertops, oven/range, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster. Cookware, dishware, cutlery, glassware, etc.,are provided.

Parking is on the property - a rarity in St. Augustine. Once you have parked here, the historic sites, restaurants, shops, city marina, tennis courts and more are within walking distance. Beaches, as well as golfing and fishing charters, are only 10 minutes away by car.

SEVEN-DAY MINIMUM STAY REQUIRED for Vacation Rental. Terms and pricing for weddings are separate; contact us for details on wedding bookings.

The owner was a daily news journalist/editor for 25 years before before being won over by St. Augustine's charms and moving here in 2001 to renovate and run a bed and breakfast inn. His involvement in the community has included hospitality marketing, fund-raising for local music and arts events, civic affairs councils and beautification efforts. An amateur musician and songwriter, he encourages visitors to enjoy the grand piano in the living room - but no 'Chopsticks,' please!

St. Augustine is the nation's oldest city, rich in history, culture, recreational resources and wonderful, friendly people who love and celebrate their town. It never gets boring! It is a location radiating beauty and charm, from the hidden Old World brick-paved streets to the dolphins splashing in the bay. The climate is ideal with pleasant breezes, sunshine and low humidity most of the year.

The Uptown neighborhood where Our House is located is a destination for chic boutiques, galleries, funky antique shops, restaurants, gift shops and more. Surrounding this vibrant San Marco Avenue shopping district are quiet residential streets and historic sites. With most of St. Augustine within walking distance, we enjoy the best of small-town living and 'soft urban' NON-car-dependent convenience.

With 2 teenage girls, we found "Our House" to be a perfect rental for us. With a reasonable rate, we each had a bedroom with a very comfy king sized bed and en suite. The girls had the upstairs to themselves with a cute sitting room and little refrigerator so they never had to leave if they didn't want to. The house is in a peaceful neighborhood and it was a joy to wake up in the morning to the birds singing in the backyard. The gardens were lovely and plenty of seating outside in the yard or on the porches. For the extra $10, it was wonderful to have access to laundry right outside our bedroom door for the week. The owner was away for a good part of the week across town, yet was a phone call away if we needed him. He immediately took care of any problems such as burned out lights and a little mishap on my part with the sink drain. Downstairs was spacious and the kitchen had all we needed for our stay. The location was perfect as we were in walking distance to everything in town. The house is in the area known as the antique section with cute little boutiques for shopping or just looking. Every morning we enjoyed walks exploring the neighborhood. And St. Augustine-as several people on the trip told us, you cross the Bridge of Lions and you don't want to leave! And just a short ride to the other side of that bridge is the St. Augustine Beach or beautiful Anastasia State Park Beach. We would highly recommend "Our House" as the perfect rental for a wonderful vacation!

We rented this historic home recently with 2 other couples for a weekend getaway. We chose this home because it offered 3 king bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms. The bedrooms were comfortable and a good size as promised. The disappointment was in the living areas. The "spacious and cozy living room" was crowded with uncomfortable period furniture that wasn't conducive to relaxation. There was no "large flat screen over the mantle" There was a small 20" sitting in front of the fireplace that was way too little for watching any kind of sporting event on. (The husbands were looking forward to catching some football games). We ended up going to a sports bar so they could watch a real size TV. The dining room is fine with enough seating for 6. The kitchen is galley style and very tiny, fine for us as we didn't make anything but coffee and use the fridge for beer and soda. The porches are nice and offer a nice view of the neighborhood. The yard is nice and well kept with many native plantings, there is also a table and chairs that can be used.

We noticed a small camera in the front window pointing to the front door. We felt the owner (who lives next door) was watching our comings and goings and this made us uncomfortable because a couple of times as soon as we walked out the front door he would appear. One time he asked if he could go in the house while we were out to get a key he had left in a desk. We didn't like that the owner entered the home while we were not there, even though he did ask for our permission. We all feel he should have disclosed the camera to us ahead of time. All in all we had a nice time and we love St Augustine.

Owner's Response: Hello recent guests,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed St. Augustine and had a comfortable stay in our historic Victorian home. As you know, we offer convenient location with parking, amenities (such as high-thread-count bed linens and spa robes) and services such late check-in in your case, that most in-town vacation rentals do not include.
You mentioned that the security camera at the front door puzzled you. It is not an active security camera - it was disconnected months ago, but I neglected to remove it. Thank you for mentioning it, as it is now GONE. (Also, I can assure you that I do not monitor guests' comings and goings. I try to stay out of the way. )
Having to retrieve a key from my desk in the house was a rare, singular occurrence, and as you noted, I humbly asked your permission before doing so. I now have extra copies of keys stashed outside of that location.
If you have a supersize TV at home, the flat-screen in our living room is no doubt smaller than what you are accustomed to, but it is by no means a mini (for the record, it is a 26-inch TV, not a 20-incher). I have updated the Website to include the exact dimensions of the TV so future guests will know in advance that it is historic Victorian house size and not sports-bar size.
The weather has been glorious, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it on the open porches. Thank you for appreciating our gardens and grounds, which we take pride in maintaining.
Best wishes,
Dave Brezing
