About The Owner

I'm an active duty Air Force pilot from Michigan, husband of a wonderful lady, and father of two smart boys who hopes to one day retire to our house in Harbor Springs. We enjoy our home away from 'home' when leave allows, and my family has a place of stability during the lengthy deployments.

Why The Owner chose Harbor Springs

Harbor Springs is a wonderful community in the truest sense of the word. The people are warm, genuine, and welcoming. There may not be a better place on earth to enjoy four distinct, varied, and beautiful seasons. The long, sunny summer days and natural air conditioning of Little Traverse Bay. The uncrowded, undeveloped sandy beaches. The smell of fudge. Fall colors that would leave a New England leaf-peeper breathless, and miles of empty roads and paths by which to enjoy them. Three months of real winter, complete with downtown sleigh rides, a great town sledding hill, a municipal ice rink, and the best skiing in the midwest. Watching the world wake in spring. Marvelling at the wildflower colors on display while out for a morning walk in one of Harbor's nature preserves, then passing through clouds of lilac on the walk back through town. Mackinac Island. The Little Traverse Wheelway bike path. Wilderness, Petoskey, and Burt Lake State Parks. Fishing the Bear River or Walloon Lake. Sailing Little Traverse Bay. Hiking the North Country Trail. Biking the Tunnel of Trees. Headlands dark sky park. Golfing some of the finest courses in the nation. The opportunities to enjoy the unspoiled outdoors are practically endless. This is the place I wish I'd spent my childhood, and I'm hoping to give that experience to my two young boys.

What makes this house unique

You won't find another property that combines the solitude and privacy of the North woods while offering such convenience of proximity to town and recreational opportunities. We love the feel of the wood stove in the winter. The house has such a warm feel, and lounging with a book under the skylight in the loft is so relaxing. I love to have my morning coffee on the upper balcony, listening to the songbirds and looking for wildlife in the woods. We particularly like that we can park the car and access nearly all of our favorite activities by bicycle.

My family and I had a fantastic time at this charming home. We had more than enough space with 4 adults and 2 kids. The owner was quick to respond and very informative about things to do in the area. The home was very well stocked, super clean and in a great location. Lots of bonus features too like toys for the kids, sleds and a beautiful fireplace. We'd recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the area.

This was my first time up to the Petoskey area and there wouldn't have been a better place to stay. You know you are in for a treat the moment you head down the driveway. The house is absolutely amazing. It is very spacious and clean, and very well maintained. The pictures that you see here are exactly what you see when you walk in the home. A beautiful home indeed. The location of the house is absolutely perfect as well, just right outside of town and very close to Boyne Highlands and Nub's Nob. Other great places nearby include the Petoskey Brewing Company, and Roast & Toast (fantastic coffee and breakfast). This property is one that I would return to time and time again, and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Lovely Place for Family and Friends. Just like the pictures - beautiful and many windows to allow plenty of natural lighting throughout. Close to town and to skiing.

I had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful home! It was absolutely perfect, and I would go back in a heartbeat. It was clean, gorgeous, and filled with love. I could tell a lot of time and heart went into this place. It was nestled in the woods, and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Yet, right down the road there is an amazing little town. There is so much to do such as dining, breweries, shopping, skiing/snowboarding, the lake, golfing, and I am sure so much more. If only I would have had a week to spend there!:) I am grateful to have found my way to this place, and I hope to go back someday soon. Maybe next time with my child, as it would have been a great place for children to spend time as well. It was just the vacation we needed. Thank you!

Our stay at this property met our(3 couples) needs nicely. We loved the location, as we were close to Harbor Springs, Petosky, & only a half hr. drive to Wilderness State Park for XC skiing. The amenities in the rental were perfect. We bought some wood, & enjoyed playing games & sipping wine in front of the fireplace @ night. It was left very clean for our stay, & the owners were easy to deal with prior to our stay.

Winter Wonderland

My family spent a week in this sweet little cabin enjoying all northern Michigan has to offer. My husband, Dad, brother-in-law and nephew went snowboarding, and the girls explored the downtown shops. We took the kids sledding in the back yard and at the park, and went snowmobiling to the bridge. We felt like we were away from it all, but everything was so close! There were spices in the cabinet, sleds in the garage, and lots of towels. A perfect place to celebrate christmas and the new year. Thanks for lending us your home to allow us to reconnect and relax.

Owner's Response: When we first listed the house we were hoping that people would enjoy it as a getaway as much as we do. It's location, amidst so many great activities, was a huge factor in our decision to purchase this home. It is wonderful to hear about others enjoying it for the same reasons.

Winter holiday

Our three day rental went very well. Two couples were happy to have this spacious home during a blizzard! We were plowed out by noon and able to ski at Highlands as planned after some cross-country skiing in untracked snow that morning. It's a short walk down the driveway to a golf course where there was a beautiful view of the full moon and the bay. The kitchen is the best equipped we have ever found. We enjoyed the food burning stove as the power went out one night for about 4 hours. Hope to rent here again. Thanks Niki!

Owner's Response: We love the layout of this house for couples. It's nice to have separate floors to retire to at the end of the day. I am glad our neighbors' hospitality allowed you to access Wequetonsing golf course for XC skiing. THE ACCESS IS NOT OURS, HOWEVER, AND IT IS NECESSARY TO GAIN PERMISSION FROM THE NEIGHBORS.

Anniversary weekend

My husband and I spent a fall weekend here to check out the area towns and the fall colors in northern MI. Other than the fact that it rained the whole time, we had a very enjoyable time. This house was very close to alot of the small towns and attractions in the area and easy to find. The house was very clean and would be plenty big enough if we would have been with several of our friends. Our hostess left use some very good homemade sweet treats to enjoy during our stay! The pictures accurately reflect the appearance as well as the discription of the property. If you are looking for a private wooded area close to town, this is the home for you. I would recommend this property to friends and would rent here again if we stay near Harbor Springs again.

Owner's Response: We did try to find pictures that were accurate. We have a wonderful friend, a professional photographer, who took the photos. I am glad you enjoyed your anniversary with us.

Charming Home in the Woods

Everyone in the family loved staying at this charming home. This custom built home gives both a comfortable and rustic feel. The kids loved going up to the loft area and watching TV and reading books. I'm already looking forward to renting this home in the winter. The kids will love skiing at a local resort and my wife and I will enjoy spending time with a fire in the beautiful fireplace. On our visit, we had a child playing in a large soccer tournament in Petoskey. If you have a child in soccer, consider attending one of the two large yearly tournaments and staying at this home. We highly recommend it!

We Just arrived home from a wonderful week stay at this Harbor Springs Charmer. Pictures dont do this home justice, even more beautiful in person! We had a family of deer in the back yard 2 mornings to enjoy with our coffee, and the 2 fawns laying down in the woods together. The master bathroom is so unique and wonderful, I enjoyed having such a fancy bath for a week! The owners of the house are wonderful to work with and we have rented many vacation homes, never felt so taken care of, lots of supplies you may have forgotten and a wonderful grill. We got to see all the sites and beaches, and it was great to come back to. Thanks so much! Our girls had a great time and were sad to leave. We would love to stay here again!
