On arrival to faro airport we followed the owners instructions to the apt, which we found were very straight forward and were at the apt within approx 30 mins. we were pleased to find the apt as described, and were impressed with its size and specification. We hired a car with holiday auto's which was competitive and stress free, and within the airport ,we would definately recommend car hire as guia is a small village with a few nice restaurants but relatively quiet, however a short 10 min drive to gale, you will find a nice beach, with a couple of nice restaurants for lunch and drinks. also situated in gale is everisto beach which has a fabulous seafood restaurant, which comes highly recommended. To sum up our week spent in portugal we found the locals to be very friendly, the seafood superb and the climate ideal .
The owners manual is very thorough and we have to agree with their restaurant choices. (if you are looking for a very special and EXPENSIVE evening, which is to die for then book a table and an experience at VILLA JOYA (2 michelin star) expect to pay 200 euro's per head inc wine!!!!
A most enjoyable stay.

Recent stay in Guia

Thank you to Nigel and Rosie for providing a beautiful appartment which totally lived up to expectations and more! It is very much 'our style' as we thought it would be from the information given and we immediately felt at home. The facilities are in the luxury bracket and we enjoyed them all.
We would certainly recommend this appartment to anyone wishing to experience the lovely town of Guia and surrounding area and we were particularly impressed with the comprehensive and useful information provided - you didn't forget anything!

What can I say that hasn't already been said - a fantastic apartment with everything you would need for a wonderful holiday. All mod cons - and the air conditioning in the rooms was fantastic as we had unusually hot weather!

The small welcome pack left in the kitchen was also a nice surprise - thank you!

Great location for the village of Guia, with plenty of good restaurants and bars...highly recommend The Palladium just around the corner.

Our only negative (which is totally out of the control of the owners of the apartment) is the close proximity to the school. The loud music they had a habit of playing late afternoon meant quiet times outside were not always possible.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments about the apartment!
It was unfortunate that your stay co-incided with the end of the infant school year, as some of the celebrations for school leavers did apparantly involve music in the school playground which could be heard from the apartment block. However, we can assure other potential guests that such noise is rare from this small school.

My husband and I have been coming to this region for the past five years and this is by far the nicest apartment we have stayed in.

Not only is it spacious and beautifully furnished, it had everything we needed provided for – including an impressive range of cooking equipment/utensils available in the kitchen. The addition of the dishwasher and washer/dryer also proved a godsend!

I’m surprised to read previous comment made regarding the heating facility, as we used the heating system ourselves during our stay and were perfectly satisfied - and I in particular feel the cold.
Really loved the under-floor heating in the bathrooms as well which was an unexpected luxury, I only wish we had it at home!

The private leisure complex which had been an initial attraction of choosing this apartment was, ‘state of the art’ and the gym had all my favourite equipment (treadmill, cross trainer, etc). As we were holidaying out of season we found we had the swimming pool and its fantastic 'current system' to ourselves on most days which was an added bonus!

Location wise the apartment is only a minutes walk from the unspoilt Guia village, so the local shops and restaurants were all within easy reach - so much so in fact that we rarely used our hire car during our entire holiday and were able to properly relax.

Personally, this apartment ticks all the boxes and we have already booked to stay here again at the end of the year, but for two weeks this time!

Long Winter Stay

Review Submitted: May 10, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We spent 7 comfortble weeks in this apartment during the period January to March 2009.
The accomodation was well furnished, with comfortable beds and sofas, and as you would expect for a new build, everything was in good condition. Two bathrooms were useful, but the shower cubicle was uncomfortably small.
The dual purpose air conditioning/warm air heating system is commonplace in Portugal and Spain, everyone complains that it's inadequate for Winter use, but the developers continue to use the system almost exclusively.
Any small problems we encountered during our stay were quickly resolved and the owners really CARE about giving value for money to their visitirs.
The village of Guia was quite busy, and there were a number of good restaurants open out of season.
The nearest beaches are at least 10 minutes away by car, and not within reasonable reach on foot.
The complex was almost empty during our stay, so we had no experience of life along side neighbours etc
Overall, we liked the apartment very much, but have decided to be nearer the beach next year.
Owner's Response: We’re sorry you had a problem with the heating - it is a high tech piece of equipment. As a result of your feedback we have now provided a simple user guide to ensure all our guests enjoy total comfort

Our Stay at Nigel and Rosies

JeremyandPauline Birmingham, UK
Review Submitted: May 9, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
A very well equipped apartment with all conceivable gadgets. The fitness centre was well used by us and a pleasant surprise. The location is quiet but within easy walking distance of basic shops and good restaurants.
You will need a hire car to get to the beaches but then there is a good choice.
The apartment is clean, tidy and modern.
Nigel provided copious notes on how to get there and how to operate the facilities.
Recommended, Jeremy
