The apartment is a sunny and open space with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and seating, loads of storage, a washer/dryer, and elevators to a prime waterfront location. In one direction you can see Snaefellsjokull in the distance across the bay. There are brighly colored fishing boats going into and out of the harbor, and in the other direction, a composition of multi-hued houses crowned by the dramatic tower of the Hallgrímskirkja. The apartment is within a 3-minute walk of the main shopping street and there is a super bakery and a Bonus supermarket handy. You can also see the beautiful new Harpa concert hall and the docks. The apartment is very comfortable and cosy with geothermal heating and a balcony with 'concertina' style glass panels that enclose it snugly for windy days (of which there are many). The bus station is not far but you can get the FlyBus to drop you off and pick you up at the Kexx hostel which is at 28 Skulagarta, just down the street. There is also an inexpensive car rental place (ProCar) right across the street. The Golden Circle bus tour is expensive, you are in a pack, and you are forced to a timetable you don't pick and you can't just randomly stop and take photographs. A small rental car is economical in comparison. We rented one day from noon until noon and did the Golden Circle the first day and toured the Rejkanes peninsula the next morning. For $100 including gas, this was a much better deal for the two of us than the equivalent bus tours. Eat dinner in and lunch out! Buy duty free wine coming into the airport because it is VERY expensive (25% tax). We recommend seeing the botanical gardens and children's petting zoo, and the Aldbaer complex which has old houses from around the area in an enclave and the park along the river leading to it. Alas, the concert hall was dark - but that'd be an experience too. We highly recommend this apartment.
